As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

You are getting so close now. Sorry about your tailbone Coop hope you are feeling better soon in time for Zumba. I ended up buying the tapes because I could never make it to class - the girls love it, so it is our family work out time but it does not even feel like working out because you are just having so much fun dancing around the room (even though I am probably more apt to dance around the room because it is just me and the girls )
Thanks! I know we are getting close now, right? I just hope the Zumba doesn't kill me! I figure it'll help build up my energy for WDW!

Thanks for the pixies. Getting better everyday. Working on the cover. Pictures as soon as it's done - I promise!

Fortunately (and unfortunately) for us, we were there because my DH was having chest pains and shortness of breath so we got right in and into a room without any problems. It turns out he has esophageal spasms. Thank God it wasn't worse!!!! Still painful, but it could have been a lot worse.
I've enjoyed following along with your PTRs. Can't wait to read the TR and hear about all the wonderful dining you have planned.
Glad it wasn't more serious with your DH but still - ouch! Hope he feels better! Thanks for following along. I know it's been confusing with our PTR switch up.

Thanks Cam. Getting better everyday. Gotta love "found" money!
I did hit KMart and got a couple new tops. 2 crinkle t's, a polo, a polo-tank, and a night shirt with Winnie the Pooh on it. all for under $50 total! Then I did all my online purchases last night. A new swimsuit (same as the old one - so I know how it fits, etc - just a different color), 2 hand held battery operated fans (one that squirts water and one that doesn't both on caribiners - good for "personal power surges") and Jeep accessories (an armrest cover that DH wanted and the plain black wheel cover so we can put our Mickey design on it). We will do "underwear inventory" during the next month so we can get what we need as far as undies and socks.
We got that refund and if we didn't put anything else away - we would be set money wise. But we are continuing our "savings plan". It just works for us and there's always the next trip - right?
We have decided on our last morning breakfast. (If any of you have followed my post in the Feasting thread) We will go to the Grand Floridian Cafe, as that is one resort we don't already have a reservation for. It will be easy to zip over there from BLT and have a breakfast before hitting the road. It was a toss up between that and Kona but we may just do that on a different day. We have a couple days where we have nothing (eats wise) planned until late at night so a breakfast there would work.
Thanks for all the pixies for my tailbone. It is getting better every day. Now it only hurts when I sit a certain way - not all the time like before. That also means my sciatic pain eased up (probably because I'm not walking funny anymore). Thursday is a staff meeting and then I have to scoot out a bit early (I will sit in the back) so I can make Zumba. I hope this Zumba doesn't kill me! I have never taken it before and I am just starting to try to get back into shape. I always say "I'm in shape - round is a shape"
“Too many people grow up. That's the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up. They forget. They don't remember what it's like to be 12 years old. They patronize, they treat children as inferiors. Well I won't do that.” - Walt Disney
Getting ready to do some pre-pre packing during this next week.Underwear inventory is a must.So many things sound silly BUT it's true that 14 days away from home is a long time, probably the longest we will ever go for.Honestly I'm not a big "fan" of the yearly vacation. Disney changed that.At the Guild(Where I do the plays) there are a lot of Disney fans, and a few DVC members. As a matter of fact there are about 5-6 couples that will be there starting Yesterday thru NewYears Eve. We will have a PG.ofD.(Players Guild of Dearborn) presence. If you see people with different names of Plays on their Tshirts, you'll know it's us.
We did get out mini M&M holders. What a chore it is to force feed each other M&Ms to empty the containers HAHA. Talking today about taking the new Jeep versus the Mini, and bringing Duffy buckled in the back seat. Although he demanded that we go thru a drive-thru so he can have a soda with a straw. Not sure what's up with that?
You two seem to have everything under control! :waytogo; And today's Walt quote is another of my all-time favorites because I don't intend to ever grow up.
I received a picture of one of my theater buddies biting the ear off a Mickey icecream. I would LOVE to see everybody start doing this(or continue) for passporter peeps. Universal has the butterbeer mustache photos, why not the WDW Mickey icecream photos!
the Walt quote!!! It reminds me of when I was in High School and we did a survey in a class and one of the questions was do you want to be older or younger. And I was the only one who wanted to be a kid again. And even at 35, I still feel like a kid!

Once we get it all together then we forget where we put it! LOL.

I think Disney keeps us all kid-like!

Just finished another work week. Last night was CRAZY busy and we had a lot of call off’s. One RN called off on the 7pm to 7am shift then posted on fb how she only had “one more get up” until she was on her way to FL! (and she wasn’t even going to Disney!) So we worked short because she didn’t have the forethought to schedule herself off a day in advance to pack her, her partner and her 3 kids (all under 3) and all their stuff. Thanks. Thanks a lot. Because of this people weren’t getting their breaks and 3 of us didn’t get out on time. Yeah - it was that busy. We are an ER. Anything can roll through the door at anytime. Working short is not a good option. I can’t, in all good conscience, leave just because my shift is done if they are drowning. I’m still in disbelief at the things people try to get away with. If I tried to pull any of these antics - I would be called into the director’s office so fast it would make your head swim! But nothing will be said/done. She’s lucky I’m not manager!
Ok - sorry about that - rant complete.
As far as Disney goes - DPW. A friend of mine (from work) went to Disney and Universal in the spring of this year and I saw in pictures that she had a neck “wallet”/holder thingy. I really liked it and asked where she got it. She said “the Philippines”. Oh. Ok. But then she said “I can have my sister get one for you” Yes! Please! Well last night she brought it in and said “my sister couldn’t get one in time so here’s mine” I told her that I wasn’t leaving for over a month (43 days to be precise). But I think it would take longer than that to get it and then get it here. So I told her I would borrow it and bring it back after our vacation. She said “No, because I ordered the new one anyway so you can have it” So I asked her how much do I owe her and she wouldn’t take any $$$. I’m going to see if she wants it returned after the trip and still may get her a little souvenir. She is really sweet. There’s another nurse we work with who is going on a cruise at the same time I will be in Disney and she got one for her too! Then I had brought in my 2010 Passporter because my supervisor (the one who GAVE us her DVC points last year) wanted to look at it. I didn’t have anything in the pockets and didn’t really use the pockets or any of the stickers etc, and since I have a 2011 Pass porter - I told her she could have that one. So even during working short, etc.- we still had a minute to bring smiles all around and pay if forward. That’s a great thing about a small crew - you really stick together (you kind of have to when it is life and death) but you do notice where the weak links are.
This week consists of eye doctor, work staff meeting, Zumba, DH has the play he is working and we want to go see The Lion King in 3D. (One of my favs!)
Thanks for listening (reading) and letting me vent. 43 days! I know I don’t do a quote every day but I am doing a quote with every post. So here’s Walt -
“People look at you and me to see what they are supposed to be. And, if we don't disappoint them, maybe, just maybe, they won't disappoint us.” - Walt Disney
We have a lot of bags, and holders and whatever to hold stuff for WDW and here.We are always looking for the perfect bag, backpack, purse, ect. When we find it it's a joy. Coop, and I have some weird hobbies, but that's kind of how we are,and I'm not sorry for one darn minute of it.It's kind of fun to see Coop get all excited about finding a new item, and she has no problem getting me stuff like that.
We got a couple of things for the jeep today, mainly the new spare tire cover. So now I can start the Mickey pirate project.Coop got some cool stuff today too,but I won't spill the beans.
41 days and the list is getting shorter in days and longer in those final chores. There are so many things that can't be done till almost the last week,or two before departure.I am trying to make all those things go smoothly so the last few days are as stress-free as possible. It's almost like a target, you gotta work from the outer rings first. The outside needs to be taken care of this weekend.Close pool, cut grass, pull weeds ect. This is the second weekend of the play,so time needs to not be wasted.Coop will chime in with some her "cool" happenings" today, and I'll probably check in later this weekend. Thanks everyone for all the support!
