As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I've just finished reading your pre-trip report from start to finish, and are so excited for you! I loved it how you organised the trip as a surprise for your Mum, and hearing how you compiled a book for her and had to keep it a secret till last Christmas
Going by my calendar, you've got a week to go! I can only begin to imagine how excited you are, as I've never been on a cruise before. It's definitely on my holiday list of things to do next though!
Good luck with your packing! It's never a task I enjoy doing, as it seems to take ages and I can never seem to fit everything in. (Then when I get back, it turns out I didn't need half the stuff to begin with! LOL!)
Looking forward to seeing all your photos and hearing about how everything went. Have an awesome time!

It won't be long!! I am so excited about this cruise. It's something I 've wanted to do for years and now it's happening! Maybe we will bump into each other. We are on the same deck it seems.
Yes I have been waiting since DCL said they were going to ALakska to go. And its hard to believe that we are only a week away. I can't wait, so excited, and yes we may bump into each other. Level 7...can't wait.

THank you for the trip wishes. Yes 1 week, next week, so excited. It was great giving my mom this trip as a gift. And packing well I don't like it either...and like you said you never use half of what you take anyways.

Its the only thing I don't like where I live is the travel time to get to a major airport...but you deal with it. It makes the trip fun, plus its a extra day off from work.

Hard to believe that this time next week I will be hitting the raod on my holiday with my mom. Now question is this week going to go by fast or slow??
Hi Nikki,
I don't see Palo on your list. A lot of the reservations are already gone. I am planning to go on the last night, but I want to change my reservation when I board if possible. The last night is really fun with your serving staff, so I don't know what I was thinking when I picked this night for our reservation.
The dog actually tore all my my magnet paper up, so now I'm off to Michael's again tomorrow. I got everything printed - just have to iron on my design to the tee shirts, and laminate the papers for the magnets.
Oh yeah - I better pack, too.
We spend Sunday night at hotel near BWI airport. Depart BWI Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. and arrive in Seattle. Then we take Amtrak at 6:00 p.m from Seattle to Vancouver, arriving around 10:00 p.m. to stay at the Ramada. Sleep late the next morning, then walk or take taxi to port for embarkation. YEAH - we are so excited........

Mom and I decided not to do Palo at all. We look at the food and what not, and nothing really excited us to try. Plus for the extra money...why when everything else food wise is free.
What time are you all heading there to check in?? We aren't going over till about noon, I have some friends picking us up at 922am when our flight gets in and then we are heading out for some breaky to visit.
I am getting more and more excited as the day gets closer.
Hi Nikki,
That makes sense about Palo. But since this is my 4th cruise, I decided I needed to give it a try. We will head over to the terminal around noon, also. I need to print out all of my travel directions since we have so many connections to make.

HI Enver, I have friends picking my up at 922am and we are doing breaky before they drop us off at the port/terminal. They are traveling up from California to see not only me, but to see Vancouver. So they are excited. Their first time in Canada. So my one friend has all the directions. I am so excited to see them and to get some photo opts with them and the ship.
I am making progress on the packing park. Found a way I can get everything into my suitcase. Which is great.
I know you pmed your room number...I have to look mine up I can't think of it right now. Plus we even see each other in the terminal thing if we are both heading there the same time.
Have a great day, and hope you get everything printed off. TTYL
Hi Enverm. Are you staying at the Ramada Limited on Pender St? That's where we are Monday night before the cruise. Our cruise check-in time is 11. We, too, are coming up from Seattle on Monday, but we are coming on Quick Shuttle. I can't believe it's next week!

Yes, we are staying at the Ramada on Pender St. What a coincidence. What is the Quick Shuttle? I tried to find something other than AMTRAK, but didn't have any luck, but I didn't look too hard. Our flight lands at 11:45, and our train doesn't leave until 6:00 p.m., so it will be a very long day and we will have to tote our luggage around, but it will all be worth it once we are on that ship!
Nothing like changing plans at the last minute. Cancelled the AMTRAK tix and now we are travelling on Quick Shuttle, also. A bit more expensive, but much more convenient. Now if I could just get everything else ready - this working business is really interfering with my Disney stuff.........

I hear you on the work thing. I have been packing on weekends. Thank goodness today is my last working day, I have all weekend to get ready for my departure on MOnday.
