I have to go potty! A Destination Wedding TR - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I must say I'm sick of the snow and we haven't gotten nearly as much as all of you in the NE. I try to think about that whenever I want to complain about the weather here.

Great update & pictures Kelly. I have to agree the beach & pool look so inviting right now, and I too am so sick of the snow here. Your brother & Becki got a nice upgraded room. Looking foward to more please.
Tonight we had dinner at the Italian restaurant, Il Botaccio. I think most of us expect for Becki’s parents, sister, her boyfriend, and her parent’s friends all ate here together tonight. We met in the lobby at I want to say 6:30pm as the restaurant opened at 7 and they didn’t take reservations. Il Bataccio had a dress code so the boys had to wear pants – I think a couple of the guys had to go back to the room to change as they had shorts on. Us girls wore dresses or skirts. Dinner was really good and for being an Italian place there was a lot of seafood on the menu. In fact, I ordered tilapia (I think) as I thought I’d share with Dylan since I didn’t see anything else that he might eat. Shouldn’t have been worried because as they got around to us for our order they asked what he wanted and they were able to make him spaghetti with red sauce (which there wasn’t anything like on the menu). The fish was really good, and that’s saying something as I don’t normally eat fish too much. Dylan enjoyed his spaghetti and then decided he was tired and fell asleep in Becki’s lap. J We all had dessert, most had cheesecake, but I had something else and it was good. Too bad I can’t remember what. I do know that if you had wine you had no idea how much you really drank as they just kept coming to fill up your glass – like it was water. I had to have a cappuccino with dessert so I’d sober up a bit.
After dinner we headed out to where they had a band every night, or some form of entertainment, near the bar outside. We got some drinks and sat down. Dylan had woken up a bit by this time, but soon needed to head to bed. My Mom offered to take him back to the room and stay with him. Thanks Mom!
We moved over to a different table, more drinks were had and lots of laughter. Soon the entertainment staff had a fashion show – some things you could buy at the resort. The end was great (see the pic below)! Too funny!
Many of these drinks were consumed over the week. They called them Toucans. They're grenadine, 'OJ', vodka & blue curacao. YUM! We had them over Christmas to bring us back to the islands as it was snowing outside.
We only took pictures of this guy from the fashion show. The rest of it was pretty normal.
Next up they were going to have a dance contest for the men. My Dad and ‘Uncle Steve’ got picked or volunteered to go up. My Dad is not shy! And add that to all that he was drinking…I’m surprised he never got sick as he’s not a drinker (like 2 beers & he’s done at home) but he was downing those mixed drinks! It was hysterical watching them try to do the dance the staff wanted them to do. First they had to take a shot of mamajuana. Now that looks (and sounds) a lot like what most of you are thinking. This is a drink made with rum, red wine, honey and put in a bottle with tree bark. Every Dominican referred to it as ‘Dominican Viagra’. J Then they basically had to kind of thrust and pull their arms back. It was funny. Too bad it all got ruined by some drunk guy who was very obnoxious and a fight almost went down, but luckily the staff separated everyone and made the drunk guy go away. We never did get a winner for the contest.
Mamajuana shots
After the drunk guy was gone and the contest was over everyone just danced or hung out.
Becki with a member of the staff.
Steve dancing with the staff.
Yes, this is my father!
After that we all headed to the 10pm show, which was similar to a cirque du soleil show. It was entertaining and seeing as I’ve never seen a cirque show I was pretty impressed.
Here you can see how the seats were set up. They were quite comfy. And well spaced.
I gasped several times during this stunt.
After the show it was time for bed as tomorrow we had an excursion tomorrow.
What a fun night and all those drinks sound delish! Your dad definitely looks like he's having a great time. Your poor mother didn't really know what she was in for while she was back at the room.

I just wish I would have had the video camera with me that night! We told Mom all about it the next day. She was a little peeved that he didn't stay in the room with her & Dylan, but not about what he did while he was away. She says she doesn't really like to dance, so at wedding receptions, etc. he's always dancing with other people.
And those toucans - are quite tasty! Just the right amount of sweet so you can knock back several without getting that sugar high/rush/sickness you can get with other mixed drinks.

That just sounds like a bad situation waiting to happen.
