Prickle Pants, Pinky and the Brain, Party in the World - Live Trip Updates 12/3/10 - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Okay, Now I can officially share my new, I had planned out my whole trip then decided to transfer it to a wonderful travel agent on the boards (Thanks Judi), since I was going back to work. Anyway, I wanted her to know about the cancellation before I posted it here. I'm so sorry Judi.
So here is my wonderful story. I've been talking off and on since the summer with a DVC guy, but I just couldn't make it work. Jim called again yesterday and I said, you know Jim, It's really too late for December because there is no way you could get me a DVC room at AKL at this late date. So he says let me call over there and see what I can do. (Yea Right) He calls back just a few minutes later. . . Well, they had a 1 BR for our first night then we could move to a studio, Now, that would just stink, being in a cool 1BR then moving down to a studio. Jim called me back again and said, well the pixie dust is really flowing today, you could have a 1BR Savannah View in Jambo for the whole trip. Seriously? Wow, so how could we not do that. The downpayment was really less than I was going to be paying and we would have an awesome room. Even if I include deluxe dining in the reservation.
So let me recap. . .
I am a proud new DVC owner of 160 points at Bay Lake Tower. But, I will be staying in December at AKL in a 1BR Savannah View in Jambo house. Wow, things sure can change in a hurry right?
So jealous!! We have gone on and off for two years about DVC ownership with a resale at AKL. Now that we have beanie, I think we are going to do it!! I can't wait to hear about AKL!

Congrats on becoming DVC members. One day I will too!
Sorry you can't swing WWOHP, but I know how you feel. I promised my older DD, who is a complete nut when it comes to HP, that we would go on our next trip to Disney. It just isn't in the budget for us this trip. Hopefully next trip though.
Well!! Congrats on DVC and all those changes for the good!! Day 4 sounds good!

Beanie makes me smile everytime, but I'll be beanie is getting bigger and bigger . You know we love to travel and we are kind of hotel snobs so it kinda makes sense!

Your plans all look great too.
I know it kind of seems silly that we can't afford wwohp but are buying into DVC but it's like this, my downpayment for DVC was less than we were paying for our vacation. And, we just refied our mortgage and decreased our payment and length of loan and that covers my DVC payment, huh?
I keep checking out the room pics online and I am just so excited, I may not want to leave the hotel room (yea right). Anyhow, I keep remembering the night I spent alone in the room watching TV on our last vacation while Pat and Lily were at the arcade. I kept laying on one bed and then the other trying to get comfortable. I have a metal plate in my neck and sometimes it is so hard to get comfy having an actual couch to sit in will be very helpful. (See I can rationalize anything) . Plus, having a room to ourself . (Who am I kidding, I am always so exhausted at Disney!)
Todays countdown trivia: Who said, "I shall call him squishy"
This will be our very first time ever at DHS. On the July trip we decided on an extra park day and after taking a poll decided to hit Epcot rather than DHS for a first. And, as you can probably tell. . .We love Epcot! So, this will be a first for all of us.
I have a reservation at Hollywood and Vine in the AM, we hope to make rope drop hit TSMM then onto breakfast.
(The meals on this day have been in a constant state of flux for about 5 minutes one day I had 6 reservations for this day, for some reason I couldn't plan it out)
For some reason on the dining plan I am obsessed with character meals, and even though Lily isn't really into the Playhouse Disney characters anymore I made this reservation! I just love Handy Manny. .
Now, my dear daughter Lily has an obsession with rides that drop. At the age of 2 at the Mall of America she rode the frog hopper ride, 10 times, she loved it, so I'm guessing that Tower of Terror will be a big hit.
I want to ride the Great Movie Ride, it just seems pretty cool to me!
We will lunch at Sci Fi. Now, we are huge Drive in fans. We have the nations only 100% wind powered drive in theater about 25 miles away and we manage to go to the drive in 4-5 times in the summer. (The summer I was pregnant, we literally went every week, and the summer after that we went just as often, you can't beat a drive in for taking a baby too, if they are grumpy you sit in the car and watch so you don't disturb anyone. . . So I think that scifi will be a hit with our family, notwithstanding that Pat is a huge Ed Wood fan.
I can hardly wait to see the Osborn lights. That is going to be a big highlight for me. In will take everyones advice and not hit the beginning, being on a scooter it is really hard to negotiate when people are milling about and not paying attention so we will hang back before seeing the lights.
We are also Pixar junkies so I plan to scout out characters galore here.
Lily is really into art and drawing so Animation Academy will be a must do at least once. She still talks about leaning to draw Mickey Mouse when she was five on our Drisney Cruise so I know that she will love the Animation Academy.
I really want Pat to try out for American Idol. We met because he wrote and sang a song for the wedding of his best friend, I fell in love before I ever saw him. He also sang on our honeymoon. . .people came up to us for the rest of our trip saying man, I've got you on video tape you rock.
He's been in a band and does a great version of CCR's fortunate son.
Here is a link to a song he wrote and sings on you tube . . . My rocking DH Pat on youtube I took the pics for the slide show.
So, I want him to try out for American Idol, that would be so much fun.
We are skipping Fantasmic because I know Lily would rather do other things and I am pretty sure that my current reservation is for Cape May that night. (Lily and I love seafood, she recently ate 30 shrimp at endless shrimp from Red Lobster) . So, I think I will leave that one alone!
It sounds like a jam packed day but we of course will play it by ear. We are pretty good a guaging our selves and DVC helps us realize that we will be back, again and again.
