♥ ♥ Lovey Dovey in Disney! -- Our PTR for Dec 2010 - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well you can tell Miss Lily that I'm bettin' she's right!
Day 4 -- Dec. 9th
We went back and forth a few times on the decision of where we were going to have breakfast on day 4. First it was Kona Cafe, then Captain Cook's but now that we have the deluxe dining plan, it's Kona again!
Wise decision, Me thinks! Ya wanna know why?
I have two words for you guys: Tonga Toast.
I've read the most amazing tales of this heavenly piece of.... uhm, heaven...
Look at it. Just look at it!
This banana-stuffed deep fried goodness will be ours, oh yes... it will be ours.
Okay, moving forward!
What's the plan, you wonder? We're going to be making our way through Epcot's Future World and doing puh-lenty 'O shopping at Downtown Disney-perhaps with a few special surprises along the way!
I'm familiar with FW and DTD on account of the 2008 trip with my family, but there's been some changes and new things added to each so there'll still be lots of stuff to check out and re-visit!
So, as Pinkyt's DD would say:
Now, I want to talk about Future World.
What are we most looking forward to?
Captain EO - DFH
Club Cool - Me (though, I'm sure the look on my face after trying Beverly is what future hubby 's looking forward to )
Spaceship earth - DFH (something I've done that he hasn't gotten the chance to yet. I LOVE the ending.)
The Sea with Nemo & Friends Aquarium - Me
MISSION: SPACE - Both DFH & I
Cookes Of Dublin's Doh-Bar - DFH
Creating our own snack @ Goofy's Candy Co. - Me
SOARIN' - DFH
The Sum Of All Thrills @ Innoventions East - Me
Okay, so I have a favor to ask of you guys. As I mentioned before, we're going to be celebrating Christmas early with one another while on the trip. You know what that meansss... Presents! -- So the favor. I want some suggestions on unique gift ideas from FW and DTD (or anywhere really!). Feel free to PM me!!
Here's a little FYI about my love to help narrow it down:
DH2b is a huge Michael Jackson fan.
He loves videogames.
He's interested in Walt Disney himself, I purchased a biography in the past, Inside the Dream, that he really enjoyed.
Bigtime history buff, you guys. So even something on the history of the parks would be great!
He'd be more than willing to cut out the majority of his diet to make room for the Dole Whip.
Fun tees, hats, etc.
And he's a major movie aficionado.. and I mean major.
Make of this what you will, I'll appreciate any ideas or suggestions!
We plan to have lunch at DTD's Earl Of Sandwich and let me tell you, I'm ecstatic! I'm a huge fan of Subway (funny that. I love subs, they're amazingly nummy, and I'm always in the mood for one. There's no way EOS won't be completely tasty!
Doug has decided to have the The Full Montagu - Roasted Beef, Turkey, Swiss & Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce, Roma Tomato & Earl's Mustard, with a side of potato chips.
And I'm going to have the Hawaiian BBQ - Grilled Chicken, Roasted Ham, Hawaiian Bbq Sauce, Aged Swiss Cheese & Fresh Pineapple, also with a side of potato chips!
Remember the possible surprise I mentioned earlier?
Wanna know what it is?
You sure?
......
Okay, okay!
Yup! That's, right, we're going to check out the Characters in Flight hot air balloon ride.
Straight from wdw.com, a little info for those of you that are thinking about it but are still not sure about all the deets:
Quote:
over the idea of trying this place Characters in Flight operated by Aérophile takes you up in a giant tethered balloon 400 feet above Downtown Disney Area! Ascend in the sky for approximately 8 to 10 minutes and experience a breathtaking, 360–degree view of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
And you'd know those silhouettes anywhere — it's Mary Poppins, Aladdin, Dumbo and other characters from some of Disney's most famous films! See them across the surface of the internally illuminated balloon that rises above you! It's a special design just for the Walt Disney World Resort.
This whimsical balloon — the Aéro30 — was built by Aérophile S.A., a company with headquarters in Paris, France. It's the world's largest tethered gas balloon! The balloon itself is attached to a gondola that is 19 feet in diameter and holds up to 29 Guests and the pilot at a time. Guests board from a specially designed platform and then, once in the air, revel in a spectacular view of vistas up to 10 miles away!
Weather permitting, the hours of operation are every day from 9 a.m. to midnight.
Ticket Prices:
$18 Adult (tax included) - Guests ages 10 and up
$12 Children (tax included) - Guests ages 3 - 9
Free- Guests 2 and under
Tickets may be purchased at the attraction's ticket window. Guest Policies
Guests under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Gondola is wheelchair accessible with assistance. Guests must transfer from an Electric Convenience Vehicle (ECV).
Weather conditions determine the number of Guests who may board the gondola in any given flight.
All flights and times subject to change due to inclement weather.
And the other major must-do is having an ornament personalized at Disney's Days Of Christmas store. I'm so excited about this! It's one of the very first things I had set out to do once we decided the time of year we wanted to book our trip. -- I think I heard somewhere that this can take up to a day or so, is that true?
So uh, guess what we're having for dessert? No big deal or anything. It's just GHIRARDELLI!
DFH is going to have the Butterscotch Hot Fudge Sundae - Butter pecan ice cream smothered with butterscotch and golden almond nuggets, under a layer of vanilla ice cream, our freshly homemade hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped almonds and a cherry.
I'm going to have the Mint Bliss Sundae - One scoop each of mint chip ice cream and chocolate ice cream, topped with freshly homemade dark chocolate hot fudge, whipped cream and a Midnight Reverie 86% Intense Dark chocolate. - YEAH, BABY!
Wow, okay. Just give me a minute. I need to gather myself here..
Alright, I'm good. Let's continue, shall we?
Okay, so we've checked the schedule and Fantasmic! is supposed to show at 6:30 pm, so what I'm thinkin' is this: we'll gather our things, head to the rental and make our way to the Studios to check out what I'm pretty positive will be one of the biggest highlights of our trip! -- Future hubby says it's an absolute must, so we're fitting it in wherever and however we possibly can.
We had to schedule dinner a bit late on account of the restaurant we're going to be dining at is incredibly popular... and I'm sure just as yummy.
We got the very last ressie for The Contemporary's California Grill on the 9th (at least, at the time of booking ADR's, 9:30 pm).
We've really lucked out on reservations!
My love is having the Triple Cheese Brick Oven-Fired Flatbread - with Pecorino, Asiago, and Provolone with Sun-dried Tomato and Arugula Pesto, (first course) the Maine Lobster Salad - with Sugar Snack Tomatoes, Hearts of Palm, Avocado, and Tomato Water Vinaigrette, and (main course) Wild Pacific Salmon - with Roasted Fig Risotto, Wild Forest Mushrooms, and Pinot Noir Reduction.
I've decided on the Grilled Flat Iron Steak Brick Oven-Fired Flatbread - with Peach Compote, Vidalia Onion Rings, Tillamook Cheddar, and Petite Arugula, (first course) the Masumoto Peach Salad - with Frisée, Spiced Pecans, Peach Vinaigrette, and Belle Chèvre, (main course) Grilled Pork Tenderloin - with Goat Cheese Polenta, Button Mushrooms, Zinfandel Glaze, and Sage.
We're shooting for a really special wine or sake to try together, any suggestions?
So you may have noticed, there's no desserts listed. There's a reason for skipping out on the sweets, and that reason is no other than The Yacht and Beach Club's Beaches and Cream!
What are we having, you ponder? We're going to be sharing a No Way Jose - a Peanut Butter and Hot Fudge Delight with Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Morsels, Whipped Cream and a Cherry! Oh man, the goopy peanut butter in this thing is enough to bring a pb-lovin'girl to her knees!
At this point I'm guessing we'll be pretty stuffed and ready for some entertainment. Our last stop for the night will be Jellyrolls! -- Doug has been super jazzed about this place ever since he heard about it, and I can't wait to check out the dueling piano players, it sounds like a blast! - Anyone know the entrance price? What kind of fun drinks they offer (preferably the frou-frou kind as dfh calls them)?
Before I end this, I wanted to throw in some really great news (or so it looks that way so far!). Remember the interview I mentioned before? It's for a job where I'll be making twice as much and actually getting a set schedule, guaranteed full-time, amazing benefits and they're set to OK my vacation! -- I was told I was one of the best interviews he's ever given! Who'da thunk it??
G'night folks!

It sounds like your plans are great. I just wanted to let you know that it sounds like you are planning on ordering an awful lot of food at CG. The flatbreads are huge! You could probably split one and be happy!
Oh my where do I start, first off I think we may be long lost sistahs!
I just about fainted reading about your Ghiardelli sundae, three of my fave things, mint chocolate chip ice cream, chocolate ice cream, and dark chocolate fudge. I'm drooling and will so have to get one of these!
(PS I have insomnia so this is not helping,
Thanks for the nod to Lily, she is very insistant when I type for her that I type exactly what she say and she reads over my shoulder,
Oh how I wish my DH didn't suggest I cancel our Cali Grill ressies that I scored early on in planning, what was I thinking? You make me laugh, because I have so planned exactly what I want to eat at every restaurant too.
I was looking at your FDH's list of loves, too cool, I'll be trying to think of some ideas for presents.
EOS: That is exactly what I would order as well. So yummy.
Now I must put in this request, I know you are honeymooning and all, but it just so happens that my DH, Lily and I will be in DTD on this day too and I would love to meet maybe to have that sundae? I will PM you my cell number, if you are interested.
And lastly, Good Luck on the job, how cool. I start my new job on Tuesday, I've been out of work since April (haven't been looking that hard, since I wanted to stay home with Lily for the summer).
WOW! I am hungry now!! Love all the foods!! I am a huge dark chocolate fan you are speaking my language! I wanted to do the wishes dessert party but my mom doesn't & I'm afraid they won't her sit there... so that's out!! O well we will find plenty of other stuff to do! I am going to Beaches & Cream if I have my way about it....& yes-way-Jose I am eating up!!! I hope you get the new job it sounds perfect!!! Prayers & pixies!! I agree I think some of us on here are long lost relatives!! Maybe descendants of Walt himself!! Can't wait to read more cuz!

The more food the better! We decided to go with the DxDP so we could try as many new and different things as we possibly can. There's no way we'll be able to eat it all, that's a fact, but we'll get to nibble a bit of everything and to me that'll be so worth it!

Oh my goodness, I LOVE mint and chocolate together. Almost as much as I love peanut butter and chocolate together.
And that's so cool how you and Lily journal together. The trip report idea is such a fantastic idea, and such a freedom for her I'm sure!
I ran the idea across DFH, we're totally up for it! It sounds like fun! -- I put your number in my cell, we'll have to keep in touch the next couple months. I can't believe how close we are to Disney vacay time. -- Has Miss Lily decided on what sweet treat she's going to have (DFH found the menu for me the other night, I bet she'd have fun looking through it)? ..If only we could try them all.
Good luck to you with your new job as well!

We thought about looking into the dessert party, but since we're going to be munchin' our entire stay, we're gonna skip out on it this time and maybe try for it next year. What's the pricing like, do you know? -- And that No Way Jose is going to be HEAVEN in a dish! I look forward to hearing the choir of angels sing as soon as I take that first bite.

Hi mojjo! Well a lot of the big events we're planning out, the rest (even though I've organized everything to a tee!) once we get there we'll be more relaxed and probably play some stuff by ear (I hope that's what you meant!).

Yeah, countrykid, I'm thinking Britt and I are going to have to do that too. Not sure how we can go to Beaches & Cream and not try to tackle the Kitchen Sink.

Whoa, that's way less than I thought. That's great, we'll definitely look into it for our next trip!
LOL, the kitchen sink is monstrous! Have you ever seen the list of ingredients for one of those things??
The Kitchen Sink includes eight scoops of chocolate ice cream, strawberry ice cream, coffee ice cream and mint chocolate chip ice cream. Saturated with hot fudge sauce, marshmallow, strawberry, caramel, and pineapple topping, almonds, bananas, Oreos, Snickers, angelfood cake, brownies, cherries, sprinkles and then to top it off, an entire can of whip Cream is thrown on!
Thanks for complimenting my smileys, they're allover photobucket!

No way jose! (see what I did there? ) I'm terrified of the Kitchen Sink. I'm afraid once it's put in front of me that it'll gobble me up instead of the other way around.
