The "Hold On Harry; Hello Mickey!" PTR ~ Sept 10-17th - COMPLETE 9/4!! - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great plans for your first two days. Glad you were able to book the room and get to WDW earlier. I love POR for the boatride to DTD and we planned that for our first day as well. Its such a perfect way to start off the trip.
Plus I had not had a chance to watch the video because I was at work when I read the post where you put the link so I made a mental note to watch it when I got home. Well my mental notes for myself have not been too good lately (LOL) so I just remembered and watched it a few minutes ago...
What a great video, I can't get over how little they looked. They were just adorable.
Number 1 is that my friend and her family will NOT be at MK on Sunday, so we’re going to shoot for meeting on 9/14 in the afternoon at MK. This means we’ll need PHs, and I’m going to need to reschedule our Afternoon Tea at GF but I know it will all work out.
Still no joy at scheduling the Dessert Party. I’ve called every day; I know if it’s meant to be, we’ll snag our ressies.
Another planning issue is also resolved. I bought a pair of Croc Capri flip-flops a couple years ago. They are by far the most comfortable flips I have ever worn and I wore them every day for our last trip to WDW. And, I wear them almost every day at home (as long as it’s not cold outside!)
Unfortunately, the tread on the bottom is beginning to wear out – which means they’re getting slippery. So I’ve really wanted to get another pair. BUT – Crocs aren’t making them exactly the same anymore. I can’t even find a pair in my size on Ebay or elsewhere! So I’ve had my eye on the Keen Florence flips.
Yesterday, I saw that a favorite store of mine had them on sale for $20.00 off – so I ordered a pair!! Hopefully, they’ll be as comfortable as my Capris and as water-resistant in case we run into rain.
Not much else in the shopping department. We all have enough summer clothes to take and with fall approaching, I really don’t want to get any more warm weather gear. I have a feeling we may end up as Cam feared last year – showing up in our trip photos in the same stuff we wore a year ago!!
On to our touring plans…
9/13 Epcot : This is Kevin’s Around the World at Epcot tour morning, so we’ll all be at RD. The girls and I will do as much as we can at FW (Soarin’, M:S and TT) and then meet with Kevin when he finishes. His tour will be over at 10:30 so he’ll get a chance to pick up some of his favorite attractions before WS opens. I have a lunch AND dinner ADR for Les Chef de France (so we can decide whether we want to meet Remy or not. We may stay for Illuminations or we may catch in the next evening…not sure yet.
~ Goals & Must-Dos: Kevin – I think his main focus will be on his tour (he’s so excited about it!!) but I know he wants to spend as much time at WS as possible. He also wants to do Spaceship Earth.
Me – I’d really like to try and see Ellen’s Universe of Energy (I know, I’ve heard the good and bad, but I’d like to see it at least once!)
Taking in as many of the movies in the different countries as we can.
I’m looking for some plates in Italy or baskets at Morocco that I can display on my wall at home.
Hoping to find some Totoro plushes in Japan!
Kelley – She fell in love with M:S last trip, so it’s a definite must-do (several times!)
Shopping for cool Hello Kitty merchandise at Mitsukoshi.
Corinne – Characters! We’ve been making a list (and checking it twice!) to see which characters we want to meet. Marie is on the top of the list this year for Epcot.
Try on a kimono at Mitsukoshi and maybe buy one! And maybe a paper parasol to match.
I the looks of your Epcot day. BTW -- I'm one who loves Ellen's Energy Adventure, but then I'm a nerd, too. I can't wait to hear about Kevin's Segway tour! The flip flops look comfy and adorable!
Sounds great to me (except Ellen--I find her a great time for a snooze--we have skipped that one for awhile now . . .) Have fun trying on Kimonos! Thats on my shopping list for next trip!
Ok--I know from Cam's TR what Marie looks like--But who is she??? I have no point of reference for that character...
Love your flip flops!
Sorry about having to retool your schedule. I am not sure how I would feel about adding PH's for all when they are only "needed" for one day. Hope you make good use of them throughout your trip.

Marie is the little white kitten from The Aristocats.
I know what you mean about the PHs. I've always wanted to have them, but we tend to like to stay in one park the entire day (probably because we're not staying as long.) But, if it'll give me more than 1 day at MK, I'm all for it. MK is my favorite park, and it's soooo hard for me to say goodbye to it after only 1 day. That was one of the reasons I loved going for MNSSHP last year - it was like having 2 MK days.
Great plans for your day at Epcot! We are going to try Le Chefs de France too next trip, and I'm trying to decide lunch or dinner??? I have Crystal Palace planned for our first night, so after meeting Pooh & friends, I'm not sure if Peter will be up for meeting Remy the next day!! That might be pushing it a bit, since we going to be on our "just the 2 of us" trip!!
