Lydia's Make A Wish TR - 11/29-12/05 - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I think this thread should carry a large warning - TISSUES REQUIRED...
What a wonderful TR - thank you for sharing. I can't wait to find out what happened next.
Shelly I have been reading your trip report through tears and smiles. I can't wait for you to continue the trip report. I loved Luke's pirate outfit and paint. Lydia looked sooo happy as did everyone else. A big welcome to your sister for joining passporter boards. I have been keeping the whole family in my thoughts and prayers every day.
Oh, Tina, I can't wait for you to read all about the magic you supplied for us. I am still floored when I think of the day you told me you had those ADR's I had been searching for. I just hope you know how big of a deal that was! You're so sweet!

Humm......Maybe I should have one of the moderators change my title.
Great TR - you are doing a fabulous job and I can't wait to read more. As I read my eyes are filled with tears. Such a precious little girl and a precious family. You all are in my prayers. I pray for a miracle for Lydia.

Since Minnie's chair is gone, I had to find a new place to have our photo taken this past Oct. Not sure this will be the permanent place.
Sorry for the delay in posting the next installment. I've been staying with Lydia and her family for a few days. We've been figuring out my new Cricut. Lydia doing crafts, so the Cricut has been a big hit! I should have an update later this week.
Praying for Lydia's miracle (and praising God for all those who are doing the same),
Shelly

Day 3 Continued – MVMCP and Mickey makes a house call
I just can’t get over all the thoughtful encouragement I’ve been receiving from you all. I know Stacey and our mom (who are also following along) feel the same. I’m so grateful to be connected to such a compassionate group of Disney lovers! On with the show…
Day 3 Continued – MVMCP and Mickey makes a house call
So, at this point in our fabulous trip we have had two incredible days in MK! After we all took a quick nap, we repacked our backpacks and strollers for rip-roaring night of Christmas partying with Mickey and company.
We arrived at the MK gate at 7:15pm and waited in the short line for our MVMCP bracelet. After looking over the MVMCP Map and Times Guide, we decided to head to Storytime with Belle. It was so packed there wasn’t even standing room available. No problem – there was a dance party going on at Cosmic Ray’s across the way. We’d shake our booty until the next storytime came around.
I can’t dance. I realize this but I don’t care. I think I danced off every calorie I had taken in since getting on that plane in Raleigh. Stacey and I had the best time shaking our groove thing on that dance floor. She said it took her back to her college days. Lydia and Luke didn’t do as much dancing as Stacey and I, but they thoroughly enjoyed spectating. Willie videotaped most of the antics, which takes me back to “I can’t dance. I realize this but I don’t care.”
Lydia and Luke rode mine and Stacey’s hips for a good bit of the dance party. They lit up every time a character would come onto the dance floor. The first two to arrive were Pluto and Goofy. Let me tell you, Goofy can groove! Later Chip and Dale came out. Lydia got a kick out of standing right next to them as they were dancing. Good times....
One of the cutest things I saw at the dance party was when we first arrived. The DJ came into the crowd of kids and they all gathered around his microphone. He played “Party in the USA” (for any old fogies, that’s by Miley Cyrus [for any really old fogies, that’s Billy Ray Cyrus’ daughter]). All the kids blared the lyrics into that one lone microphone with their hands in the air. During the chorus he’d pick one sweet voice for a few solo lines. Absolutely adorable! Just last week I spent a few nights at Lydia’s house and do you know what song she was blaring in her kitchen? Yep. It plays right after Travis Cottrell’s “Sanctuary.”
Totally exhausted, we stepped back out to the oh-so-refreshing night air to catch the next Storytime. No luck… packed to the gills. We decided to reride Tomorrowland Speedway and we visited with Alice and the Mad Hatter on our way to catch the fireworks.
I’ll spare you from the oodles of fireworks photos. The kids loved it although it had been a long day and I think we were all starting to wear down by then.
Once the last bangs were heard, we moved a few steps up Main Street to stake out a spot for the parade. I went to load up on free hot chocolate and cookies for everyone and just as we were finishing our treat the parade began. When it came to an end, it was getting very late so we filed out the gate with the masses and hopped on the monorail for the short ride home. I knew what was coming up, but I was the only one.
It was 11:45pm… we were beat. Dog-tired we lugged ourselves up to the 7th floor. Willie opened the door to our room and instantly an eruption of excitement overcame us all. Mickey had come! His footprints led to the bed where a giant box sat with confetti sprinkled all around. There was a stuffed Mickey and Minnie, two autograph books and pens, a Mickey blanket for Lydia and one for Luke each with their name embroidered, a Mickey flag, a beautiful vase with huge Rice Crispy Treats spelling out “Welcome”, and a gorgeous frame with a personalized note to Lydia and Luke. Inside the giant box were two Mickey gloves, a Hidden Mickey book and pretzels and chocolate bars. [My mom had arranged for “Mickey’s Grand Welcome” through the Disney Florist.]
I could kick myself for not turning the flash back on. I had it off earlier for the fireworks and totally forgot. Crummy photos, but at least I captured it. It didn’t take long before the excitement turned into exhaustion. We all hit the sack to rest up for a new park tomorrow.
What a day! Praise God for another day full of fabulous memories for everyone! Can it get any better? Yes, ma’am it can. Stay tuned for the next installment.
What a wonderful day! I can hear the squeals in my head when you posted about the Mickey's Grand Welcome in the hotel room. It made me smile in delight. Can't wait to read more. Praying for Lydia's miracle too.
