Dylan’s 1st Birthday Trip, October 2-7, 2008 **Updated 4/16/09** COMPLETE - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The rain had let up so we headed to DHS. Before heading in to our seats characters came out for meet and greets so we had a little mini parade. We had an ADR for 5:10pm at Hollywood & Vine. I think this was a first for all us (well I know at least for my family it was). We also had the Fantasmic! Package and would be seeing the show at 7:30pm. Dinner was good; I don’t remember it being fantastic or anything, although I did have seconds on the Caesar salad. Dylan wasn’t a very happy camper during dinner so I tried to keep him calm and under control, therefore I was not able to enjoy my meal. Our server did bring him out a GINORMOUS cupcake and a card signed by JoJo, Goliath, Leo, & June for his birthday which was very nice of him. I think I ate most of the cupcake and it was yummy.
After dinner we headed to Star Tours and took our flight to Endor and shopped in Tatooine Traders. Then I think it was time to start heading to Fantasmic! I just LOVE this show! It’s definitely one of my favorites and I’m sad I may not be able to see it in June. The show was great as always. Dylan liked it too I think.
Tonight DHS had EMH so we headed to see Muppet Vision 3-D. This is another family favorite and is always a must see. DH’s Dad loves Statler & Waldorf. After a good does of some Muppets we headed to Pixar Place to check it out. Unfortunately we didn’t get to ride Toy Story Mania – too long of a wait; hopefully we’ll get to experience it in June. We continued on and heard music from the Playhouse Disney area and Dylan started dancing like crazy in his stroller. It was so cute. He just loves music. We stayed in the area for a bit and let him get his groove on. When he started to go away from it though Dylan threw a FIT! He was so mad we were leaving the music. But it was getting late and we needed to get him to bed. So I’ve made a mental note that the Playhouse Disney Dance Party is a MUST DO in June!! As we headed out of the park we grabbed some PP pics as I wanted to get our “Today is Dylan’s Birthday” shirts with all of us in them.
What a great birthday for Dylan! It makes me look forward to celebrating my birthday at MK! 30th...1st...I guess all birthdays are the same when you're in WDW! I the pic of all of you with your back to the camera and Dylan facing the camera. Too cute! Keep it comin'!
So glad I found your TR! My little boy will be 1 on April 10th. We actually too him for his first disney trip back in December 08 at 8 months and he had a blast then. We are going back in October and he will be 1 1/2, I can't wait! Its great to read about someone elses experience with a child around the same age. My little one isn't eating a ton of finger food yet, so I am hoping by October, he too will devour the disney food! I was hoping to get down for his 1st birthday but the dates just didn't work out. I am wondering if I will still be able to tell them we are celebrating his 1st birthday, even though it was 6 months ago. If I can hold out that long for a hair cut, maybe we will get his 1st hair cut there too.
I love the photo pass pic by the fountain in France, never saw that one before. We bought the cd back in December since we had over 250 pictures taken on Sam's first trip!

Thanks everyone! I do love that picture with our backs and Dylan facing the camera - couldn't have planned it that way if I wanted to though.

Have fun on your birthday! That's so exciting. DH & I want to spend our 30ths in the world too - next August. Hopefully we will be able to.

Happy early Birthday to Sam! It was a blast. We're going back in June, so Dylan will be 20 months and now that he's walking it'll be a whole other ballgame. I'm sure your little one will love the food. Dylan was on all table food when he was one, but he got teeth kind of early too.

Sam actually has 8 teeth that I know of and I think he might be teething for his molars. He just isn't all that great with food yet, he likes certain things, will try what he feels like, but I think he has that sensitive gag reflex. He loves strawberries and peeled grapes. He started walking at 11 months on his own. When we went last December, he was crawling, so we will be in a whole different ball game in October too!

I'm sure he'll grow to like food. We were lucky I guess, Dylan pretty much eats anything you put in front of him. Dylan was a late walker though - he started at 16 months, but now he's running around like crazy. We'll be there in June with one of those teddy bear backpack harnesses. Never thought I would, but I think it will come in handy.

I was wondering about those backpack harness things, I saw one that I think was a monkey at our bj's wholesale store today. Caught my eye and had me seriously thinking! I know Sam is going to want to get out of the stroller and walk and by October he will be even more steady on his feet, shoot he already cruises the whole house, but I know how children don't always like to hold hands and I can't see not having some sort of hold on him!

I have a question, I have not planned a trip this far ahead of time in a while, usually we throw them together 3-4 months in advance. I want to get our adr's as soon as they come available in order to get our fave places and times, is it 90 days out for restaurants?? I thought they were starting adr's online, what happened with that?

Dylan doesn't like to hold hands when he walks, so I think the 'harness' will be good especially when standing in lines since he could just walk right under the rails.
Yes, ADRs can be made 90 days out. I'm not sure about the on-line option. I know I heard about it, but it must be taking longer than normal to get up and running.
