Live Trip Report From WDW 2/2 - 2/9 - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We had a great time at Rose & Crown last night! We valet parked at the Boardwalk and checked that out again for a while before heading over to EPCOT (yes I know, a no no, shhhhhhh). Got seated right at 7, and had a great waiter named Matt. We all got drinks and a cup of the potato leek soup for an appetizer. We all agreed we should have gotten bowls of the soup, lol!
I ordered the vegetable curry but honestly didn't really care for it. I ate it, and it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't what I expected, and it wasn't something I'd order again. Mom got the chicken, and that looked awesome! She said it was great. My friend Jessica got the fish and chips and wow was that a generous portion. Her husband got the bangers and mash, and that looked really good, too. DD got the kids pizza (she'd live on pizza if she could).
We managed to eat in an hour, and then rushed out to watch IllumiNations. We considered just going outside and then coming back for dessert, but we were all so full that we decided to skip the dessert.
So we left a very generous tip, and then headed out to watch IllumiNations. It was funny because the 'earth' didn't light up right away during the show, so we were all sitting there saying, "Hm, shouldn't the earth be lit up?" You could see it moving around the water, but all dark. Finally it lit up and everyone cheered, lol.
It was, of course, a great show, but for me nothing compares to Wishes. Afterwards, we chatted a while, and then headed out of the park to go home... but not before stopping to blow $15 on a light-up wand for DD. Criminy. $15. LOL! Ah Disney.
We came back and watched a tv show (I forget what it's called, but it was good) and then went to sleep. Now we're up and DD has been hollering for a cupcake. Daggone waiters keep bringing her cupcakes and now it's all she'll talk about, lol. So I gave her a blueberry muffin and called it a cupcake.
I think this morning we'll go outside and play on the beach a while before going to Downtown Disney to meet my friend for lunch. Then we'll wander the monorail resorts, I think, and probably eat at the GF (since we've already eaten at the Poly twice and will be eating at the CR tomorrow at CM's). Hm... wonder if there's an ADR available at WCC...
I'll post some IllumiNations pictures later on after I shower and get sorted out, lol.
You are doing such a great job with these live updates!!! I don't know how you have the energy! And I add my two cents - your little one is too cute for words!!! Oh, they grow up so fast!!!

I'm glad you gave Sci Fi a chance. Dsis and I really enjoyed it in December. I can't wait to take dh there next year. Great report and the pics of your dd are so cute. She's is adorable.

Ok this will be a short one because I'm just exhausted and we have to be up early (well, early for US) tomorrow to get to MK for our 920 ADR at Crystal Palace.
I'll post some pictures possibly Sunday afternoon during our nap time... we'll see how that goes!
Today we went to DTD and ate lunch at Rainforest with a friend. We both had the bbq chicken wrap and wow that was great! I was highly impressed! Then we wandered around and DD played wiht the legos tables and stuff. After that, we went over to park at the GF. We wandered that resort a while and had some ice cream at the Sasparilla Grill & Games. DD had a Mickey Bar, and she wore most of it. Then we sat out by the fountain and read a while. What a gorgeous resort!
After that we took the monorail over to the CR and wandered there a bit, and canceled our ADR for tonight (very sad for us, but the friends we were going to go with had to cancel). So instead we made an ADR for the Grand Floridian Cafe for 645pm. We killed time walking the grounds of the CR and the Poly before heading to the GF.
The good news is mom is definitely sold on the Poly and says we absolutely have to stay there next year. Wahoo!!
We ate at the GF Cafe - and let me tell you it's HIGHLY underrated. What a wonderful place to eat! I have to recommend it to EVERYONE! Wonderful place!
We finished just in time to go watch Wishes from the GF dock, before driving back here. DD is asleep and I'm about to go to bed myself. I'm just done for! Funny how a "day off" can be so exhausting!
I'm really thrilled at how many resorts we got to eat at and explore this time around! We were really adventurous! We've gotten a lot done this trip. It's a good feeling to know we hit everything we really wanted to see / do.
Tomorrow is DD's actual birthday so we've got breakfast with Pooh, dinner with Mickey, and EMH's to deal with... we'll be back at the resort from about 130-430pm because DD is going to definitely need a nap if she's going to keep up and be in good spirits.
DD is going to think birthdays last a week, I tell you what. She's at the point where when the CM's come out with the cupcake (or ice cream), she sings Happy Birthday to herself and starts clapping, lol. What will we do when we get home and go to a restaurant and no one sings to her? LOL!
