A Surprise for Lindsay Trip Report - COMPLETED 3/19!! - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great updates!! My aunt has a beautiful log home, so I can understand Lindsay's excitement of wanting to visit the grandparents'. I'm wondering if the girls questioned your iron bladder, when you used the facilities after they did, allowing more time to your Garmin buddy Great reveal too! Looking forward to seeing the video!
Aww, what a great surprise. I'm going to make DH read your last installment - he thinks he's the only one with a household of females that constantly have to take bathroom breaks.
First things first, my video has been “uploading” to youtube for hours. So if anybody has a better suggestion of where to upload the video, I’m open for it. I tried Photobucket but it had a 100K limit while the video I have is 169K. Second, I didn’t really begin taking photos until the next morning I do believe. So this will be the last update that seems to be lacking photos.
Okay back on topic.
Friday Day 1 Update 3
We walked into Port Orleans French Quarter. The ladies were all hungry so they headed to the food court (With my “Tables in Wonderland” ridiculously-named card) while I checked us in. A lot of people were already in line so it took about 20 minutes which is about 4 hours in “I want to go to a park NOW” time. It seemed a lot longer than 30 minutes but that is all it was. After I got our room keys, I told them about Saturday being Lindsay’s birthday and they assured me they’d have her something from the Princesses. I met the girls at the food court and led them to the room. Audrey was ready for her food so I got Allie and Lindsay to help me unload the car. The girls had the smart idea of getting Audrey’s stroller out of the car and they loaded it down with smaller bags while I carried the larger suitcases. We got back to the room in about 20 minutes and quickly decided that we needed to wear sweatshirts. It was COLD in Orlando! I needed to run back to the car for one final load. Once back in the room we wondered what we should do next? Our bellies were not just hungry, they were HOWWNNGRY. When we get that feeling at Walt Disney World, we immediately think World Showcase. The girls grabbed their pins and we all piled back into the car and headed to EPCOT which had late hours tonight.
Once at EPCOT, we immediately walked back to World Showcase. By the time we got to World Showcase, it was about 8:45. We decided on our favorite counter service, Japan’s Yakatori House. Bethany and I absolutely adore the Tempura Shrimp Udon Noodles. If you haven’t had it before, please do so. It is incredibly good and warming! I told the girls to grab a spot to watch the fireworks while I got the food. I got the girls to kid orders of teriyaki chicken and steamed rice and got Bethany and I two orders of Tempura Shrimp Udon. Illuminations had started while I was in line but I didn’t mind. I’ve seen it a bunch of times. While I was trying to figure out how I was going to get two trays of food and drink back to where the girls were sitting, I see my whole brood walking up to me. Illuminations had ended and they decided to come inside to eat since it was cold. I’m glad they did. I would have never made it. I think half of WS tried to follow them inside Yakatori House because it filled up quickly. We had a calm, enjoyable meal. The girls were just excited to be in Walt Disney World. We then walked around World Showcase and I could tell the ladies were tired so we started walking toward the exit. Lindsay asked to ride her “First Favorite Ride” Spaceship Earth and we all quickly agreed. I won’t describe it again, we all know what it is about but it was nice to be on an old friend (That’s what she said. Haha obligatory The Office joke). We sent our postcards back home. Bethany held Audrey up to let her be my wingman. I decided to play dead. Allie and Lindsay decided to just look pretty. Boring! Hahaha Hmm.. .let me see if we still have them in my email…
After getting back to the room, I helped Bethany get the girls ready for bed and then I ran back down to the POFQ store. I got us some Entenmann’s doughnut holes for breakfast for the morning. I also got us an alcoholic beverage for the evening. Okay, my next thing I was looking for is a sort of joke between Bethany and me. It’s more of the PG13 level . So with that said, you have been warned. We’ve stayed at all levels of resorts. Our last stay was at Wilderness Lodge and I noticed in the store that they had condoms. Of course, my first joke was well, this is truly the happiest place on earth! Hahaha. I’ve never looked for them at other resorts. I just happened across them on that trip. Hahaha. But at POFQ, they did not. So now, I’m on a mission to see if only deluxe resorts are concerned with guest sex lives. LMAO so from now on, I’m looking for condoms at every resort. I’m sure Disney will be creating a “pervert file” on me but I’m sorry. I’m a curious fellow.
Okay the PG version of the trip report is back. When I got back to the room, the girls were watching Stacey on the Top 7 while Audrey was asleep in her crib. I handed Bethany her drink as I told her the story of what I was looking for. She is now just as intrigued as me. Hahaha
Finally got the video to upload of when Lindsay finally realized where we were.... Here's a link to it. Haha why I am talking in this sing songy voice as I talk to Lindsay is beyond me. I'm guessing I was trying to be chipper. hahaha
Great update! the video! Lindsay is surprisingly calm! And, PG-13? How about NC-17? Do you want Allie looking to use those things at 13?!? Sounds like a wonderful time at Epcot! How funny that you chose the same options on SSE - the same thing happened to us when we were there - DS chose the same things we did. Guess we're bringing up our kids to share the same beliefs! Looking forward to more
Matt, it seems like my little niece had such a great time on her surprise trip. I can't wait to read more. You are such a wonderful dad. The girls have been blessed with you.
Great trip report! Love the reveal video!!! Write more!
Danielle

Since Minnie's chair is gone, I had to find a new place to have our photo taken this past Oct. Not sure this will be the permanent place.
