As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Today I gave in and bought a snack on my break at school. $1.75 for curry fried rice with pineapple and 3 cream cheese wontons. It was very good, and I didn't think the price was too bad.
Tonight we went and picked up the awesome desk I found on Craig's List. Full price at Ikea for the desk is $80. I got it for $30 and it is in great condition! Let the scrapbooking commence!!!

$31 on cat food, litter, etc, but that is for all 4 cats for when we are away. (2 go to a friends and 2 stay home with my DNephew watching them.) So that is another vacation expense taken care of. $6 on breakfast at the diner. Then, everyone went for lunch at the Chinese buffet, but I refused to spend another $8 and ate my sandwich and chips in the ambulance while they frittered away money. I had a nice phone chat with a friend while I ate, too!
It was payday!!!
Today will be expensive, as I need to get an anniversary gift, some cards, gas, more trip stuff, and then I need to see about a new futon mattress (which we desperately need.)
Oh! And my car started to miss, so my mechanic checked it out and said it was a part that is under warranty! So we decided to leave the car with him and get all the little things fixed while we were away. (It needs brakes, the timing belt is way overdue for replacement, it might need springs, I am going to have the transmission serviced, etc, etc, etc.) My car always ends up playing second or third fiddle to everything else, including DH's car). It will cost about $1200, but it should buy me about 4 more years out of the car!
Thur -
$0 on lunch - I ate my frozen pizza, and it was really good!
$11 on dinner for 3 of us - I went to a free teacher event and they had FREE food and drinks! I snacked pretty heavily, and then when DH got us dinner all I had was something small. I had a soda from home instead of getting a fountain soda which I .
Friday (today) DH and I are going to a free listener appreciation concert, so DD is going to play at her DF's house and eat dinner with them. DH and I will probably get food, but it'll be cheap as we need to be at the concert around 5:30 or 6 ish.

Looking forward to another Christmas with The Mouse!!
Yesterday: $17 on gifts. Still need to get cards, though. $2 for milk. And the biggie... $700 on 2 new futon mattresses and covers. Ours are really shot (one is in the rec room and one is in my craft room) and they were on sale. I totally forgot that I needed to buy the covers seperate from the mattresses, which added another $200 to the amount I had budgeted. Plus $40 for delivery. I told DH that when we get back from WDW we are really going to need to buckle down.
Oh, and we went out to dinner, but we had a gift card, so it was F-R-E-E!!
Zero for Friday - a consultant bought lunch (just a sandwich!), dinner was left over pizza. On Thursday we got the bill for our car $650, and I am not convinced it is fixed (meaning, let DH drive that one!). No pricey plans for this rainy weekend.
Yesterday I got a few things I needed for my trip (whoohoo) and some dog biscuits to take to the kennel for Pip - today- going to see my son at school and take a few thngs he forget ( like his watercolors, most of his socks, and some of his good paint brushes )and we'll go out to lunch, I am sure- then tonight I have a Stampin Up thing but its only $5.00 then hopefully all zero days till my trip ( whoohoo)
Yesterday, I needed to stop at the pharmacy to pick up some refills. $100+ but the money came out out of my healthcare reimbursement account. Then I sent a package to my DD-$3. As long as I was out I decided to grab lunch. I stopped at the deli of a local grocery and got wild rice soup, butternut squash ravioli, and milk-around $8. I've been very good about bringing my lunch to work every day, so I considered this a treat!
Lessee - $7 for lunch yesterday on the drive back from SC - my last meal covered by per diem money - I think I came out about $40 to the good for my per diem $ for the week. Should see that check next week. Would have been better if I hadn't gone for that one big, 'spensive dinner, but at least I put a little money in my pocket (now if I could just erase all that pizza I pigged out on while lying in hotel room beds....).
$25 for dinner last night - I got home late and had takeout with some friends - I paid as it was my turn. $26 on gas for the Bug.
Tonight we grilled steaks, zucchini, red taters and green beans on the grill - since I paid for last night's food, I didn't bring anything but myself and a Diet Coke (for me) to dinner. So today was $0!
The views and opinions expressed on this post are mine and do not necessarily represent or reflect those of The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies
$13 for lunch for the 3 of us
$52 at the grocery store - I'm only buying what I know we'll use so as not to waste food
Dinner will be at home tonight courtesy of DH and the sirloin steaks I bought!

Looking forward to another Christmas with The Mouse!!
This month has been pretty godd on $$ spent. I have stayed with the lists, and not shopped for 'entertainment'!! Groceries have been purchased depending on what is on sale. I kinda fell off the wagon today because I am mad about something I can't do anything about, so I had to buy $14.00 worth of craft stuff to get my mind busy on something else....yes I had other stuff at home, but it wasn't what I wanted to use. Dumb reason, but it could of been worse.
