Family, friends, and a Baby!! 8 is definitely enough!! POFQ 8/11-8/15 **Updated 9/21** COMPLETE - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am glad you are getting to do EE. It is one of my favorites. I have checked on undercover tourist and may order my pass there too. I love the photopass cd. I have plans to order one for this trip too. I did read somewhere that the code expires in like 60 days. Is that true?

I can't wait to order my first every Photopass CD! We got the slideshow our first trip but did not know until we paid $50 that the actual picture files wouldn't be on the CD! no fun! Last summer I just copied the teeny tiny files off the website because we were having some fundage issues at the time.
Well, I crossed one more thing off of the "to-do" list (for now ) - I finalized the final itinerary . . . . .
The change for Friday is - Now that we have an earlier breakfast we are definitely going to AK. It's silly not to at least bring Mary and Jimmy there (even if they are not "animal people") and like I said earlier, I'm pretty sure EJ will love EE!! So this day was an "open day" on the itinerary and now it turned into a "planned park" day . . . .
Also, the change for Wednesday is - Epcot (with our LeCellier lunch at 12:30pm) til about 3pm or 4pm then a break at the hotel with everyone until we head out to DHS for our 7:30 ADR at Mama's and EEMH there.
Regarding the whole BB/DQ debacle. I am definitely not adding it onto our tickets because I just don't know if it's really going to happen and if so, who is going to want to go . . . . We all went to BB in Aug '04, and I liked it, but I'd rather be perusing WS or something like that. So, I think I'm going to work like 2 extra shifts at the restaurant and put that aside to cover BB or DQ if Danny decides he really wants to go. . . . . That's the best I can do with that whole situation
The meet with Melissa and Andy is pretty much set for around 7pm or so for Grand Marnier slushes. I can't wait to meet them in person (no I am not a crazy stalker )!!
Okay now that the random updates are out of the way, I do have some questions:
1. Do you think it is necessary to send a room request for DSIL to have a first floor room in advance or will it be pretty easy to just get one upon check in?
2. Does anyone have any clarification as to whether or not the code for preordering the photopass CD expires?
3. Can anyone tell me if the Block Party Bash at DHS is something we should make a point to see?
4. Is there a secret to getting a late check out on departure day? I've tried this twice already and both times was told "no". I would love to be able to go to breakfast and then go back and check out. Although, now that I think about it, we should have plenty of time since our breakfast is earlier at 8:50am, right?
5. What do you think we should do about dinner on Tuesday? This is the day we have golf/tea happening during the day. Some options are: Head to Epcot for EEMH and have Cantina. Or head to DTD and have WPE or maybe even EOS. Opinions?
This has turned into way too much rambling/thinking out loud by typing. . . . . Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.
Great remblings Amanda....the best thinkers of the world came up with their theories through ramblings so I never discourage.
As for some of your questions: I find there is never reason not to put in a room request...better have it noted a couple of times - it could never hurt.
Don't know about the photopass...I pre-ordered mine about 45 days before my trip and had no problems.
We saw part of the Block Party Bash - the little one liked it and as I had never seen it I was glad we finally got to see it. However, the kids really enjoyed that High School Musical Rally....
I have been turned down before when I requested late check out but this time I reuqested it late the night before and they had no problem...don't know if there is a trick or not but the last time we requested it I had called early the day of our check out so maybe you get better luck the night before.
As for dinner on Tuesday I love the Cantina...we had lunch there this trip and it was so good. Are you planning on catching the fireworks that night...maybe that would be a possibility - a late dinner and a perfect vantage point to see Illuminations.
We actually had lunch our last day at WPE and it was delicious too...maybe play it by ear and see what everyone is in the mood for - either way you can't go wrong.
1. Do you think it is necessary to send a room request for DSIL to have a first floor room in advance or will it be pretty easy to just get one upon check in?
I would send the room request... we always have gotten nice CMs who want to cater to us in every way... but having the request on her ressie couldn't hurt!
2. Does anyone have any clarification as to whether or not the code for preordering the photopass CD expires?
I have been looking into this too and haven't been able to find it. I can't decide when to pre-order mine for this very reason. Hopefully someone else has a better answer here!
3. Can anyone tell me if the Block Party Bash at DHS is something we should make a point to see?
My cousins just got back from WDW and they LOVED the new parade. Even my aunt and uncle thought it was great... they said the characters really interact and come over and dance with you and whatnot! Sounds fun to me!

Hmmm... its really up to your mousekeeper and all but we just leave a nice tip every morning and have ended up with good luck. We do make a point to call about it the night before not that morning... I dont know if that helps. But then again since weve only been twice it could have been sheer coincidence.

I think WS dinner counterservice is a great idea... a little something for every taste, ya know? You could leave this up in the air and decide Tuesday... afterall you may be in a shopping mood and want DTD, ya know?
PS- I like your random updates! I haven't had much going on myself so it gives me something fun to read!
Well, I will be able to answer your question when I get back, lol
I pre-ordered the CD about 1 week before our September trip last year and then wouldn't you know it, forgot to claim my pics!! I still have the code and I intend on trying to claim it when I get back.
I would send a request - I am going to send one for our jan trip - it is our aniv trip and I want to be sure to tell them what I want - so it can't hurt
the photopass cd - any answers given would be helpful as I am contemplating doing that as well
late checkout - I would give it a shot - it can never hurt to try (again!)
I personally would go with wpe - that is one yummy cs meal
good luck
Glad to see everything is coming together for your trip!
As for your questions, i have the same answers as other's pretty much. I think that you should pre request the room that you want because back in september last year I had done that at CSR and they had not given me my request but they looked in my file and saw that I had requested that so they gave it to me based on that. Which i said oh thank god that was noted on my account.
As for the photopass i dunno but i'm hoping someone knows so we know for our trip too!
I think that's a good idea about not getting the BB upgrade on your ticket and just waiting because i'd rather be shopping in WS too if it were up to me*LOL*
About the late check out they have accomodated us a few times with that and all we had to do was call the night before but i think it depends on how booked they are for the next day.
Last but not least i love the Cantina idea because they have great food but i'd play it by ear...cause i love EOS too. Id just see where the night takes ya!
I was looking around and found this info on the photopass.

Sweet! Thanks! I needed to know that too. You all know that I am a crazy bi-atch though... I will have my order for the photopass CD less than 24 hours after I get home! lol! Sleep? What? Not when there is more Disney magic to be had! lol!
