As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Notice my trusty PASSPORTER tucked away in my handbag..
This was a couple of years ago, but we were waiting for Fantasmic to start. How in the world we saw him, or got 'lucky' enough to be rows in front of him, I will never know. But Toby Keith had a section blocked off, baseball cap pulled low and had his hands around his face so no one would notice him. But we did He had a special entrance, special section, and took off just shortly before the show ended thru his special exit I didn't see him at all throughout the parks except for that time but heard he was there all day.
We have also seen Kelly Ripa with her children at Epcot, but apparently alot of people have.
My DD and I had lunch at CRT last Wednesday and sat next to George Stephanopoulos and his family. I didn't notice them untill about 30 minutes into the meal. We were seated at the "engagement table" so DD had to stand with her back to them for the pictures. When I (discretely) asked our waitress if it was him, she smiled and said that we seemed to be the only ones who realized it and that she bet that he was in some of our pictures. It would have really been funny not to have noticed it at the restaurant and discovered it in our pics!
I saw Kelly Ripa in AK with her hubby and children and some other people. They were walking around among everyone else, no special access but they did have a tour guide going with them everywhere. We saw her a couple times during the day throughout the park. What I liked was no one was bothering them asking for pictures or autographs or anything. They were able to enjoy their day like everyone else.
It has been a few years ago but my friend was at the parks and was in line behind Phil Collins and his children. He was in the regular line and had a cap and glasses on to try to hide.
She shows off the autograph all the time. It was not my experience but it was fun.

Saw Jay Leno at Disneyland being escorted to the Jungle Cruise. There were so many people around him, couldn't tell if he was there for pleasure or business but boy his chin does stand out!!!
Several years ago my friend and I saw Jim Belushi and his son at Epcot. My friend made me follow him around to the different country's for an hour and half. We missed most of World Showcase and she wouldn't even go up and talk to him. I was so mad at her!! Now I think it's funny that we did that and never spoke to him!! AAHH to be 25 again!!
While waiting to go in Hollywood and Vine, I saw Secret Service agents walking around the front. I looked everywhere for a politician I recognized but no luck! So even though I didnt see anyone, I was in their presence! LOL

My family was having dinner at Planet Hollywood in DTD when Whoopie Goldberg and her entourage came in and were seated right next to us. However as they were being seated, staff from the restaurant came and set up a lot of little shrubery-like trees between where we and the other guests were seated and her area. You could still see them though - and hear them. They were loud!!
Suzie
These really don't count because they were "events" but I still like to brag that I saw Michael J. Fox in the "Stars and Motor Cars parade at (then) MGM" Also same time frame I saw the band "Smash Mouth" play in a summer concert. This was in 1999. I have pictures of both.
We saw Doug Flutie (football player) with his entire family in the Land at Epcot, we were all waiting out a rainstorm and he was standing right next to us. We were all waiting out a burst of rain, outside the entrance. He was pushing his mom in a wheelchair, and he was very sweet. He was still playing for the Bills at the time, and since we are from Buffalo it was a real treat, my two boys and my DH were thrilled, at first they didn't want to seem too excited, my DH gave him "the nod" and Flutie nodded back, and then they struck up a conversation. He was really a very nice guy.
Back in 2002 I saw Roger Clemens in the 50s Primetime Cafe. He was only two tables away from my family, didn't seem to be bothered by all the attention he and his family were getting. A couple of kids went up to him to get his autograph and he obliged them. Can't say I was too thrilled though being a Red Sox fan!!
Even better, I saw Nicolas Cage in Las Vegas in the FAO Schwarz store in Caesar's back in 2000. He is just as attractive in person!
Side bar--- the best place to see celebs in Vegas...stay at the Hard Rock and hang out at the pool!!!! My bff has stayed there multiple times and has tons of pics. She's even partied with some of them - Clooney to name one . Being married I don't get to go out and party like that.
You know, it's funny, after reading all of these posts, it seems that the celebs are better off just blending in to the regular crowd with their families than they are paying all that money and going through the trouble of bringing an entourage and spending all that time going through special exits....then they spend more time worrying about getting noticed. It seems the ones who just "blend in" and walk around like normal people have the better approach, have more fun, don't get noticed as much, are more revered by the public, and their kids probably enjoy it more too
I saw Joey Fatone from NSYNC with his daughter a few years ago going to the MNSSHP and we once saw Phil Collins on the Backlot Tour. He was there recording the soundtrack for the movie Brother Bear.
