As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: The \"Twisted Arm, Broken Toe, US & WDW TR 8/1-8/14\" - THREAD 2 - VIDEO Update 11/12
I love the Soarin' music. I instantly recognized it. How cool. And the Hoop de Doo song was too cute and so appropriate!
Great detour!

Day 11 - Friday, August 11, 2006 – part 1
Now playing: A planned late start to our day, but how late will that start be?!?
When I planned a late start, I never imagined how late that would be. We slept until well after 9:00am. Jeffrey & Kyle ran to Pepper Market for some cinnamon buns, but once we ate those, we fell back to sleep until 12:00pm!! WOW! I guess we needed the sleep.
We had a 4:00pm ADR at Wolfgang Puck Café. We took our time getting ready and headed off to DTD at 2:00pm. We got off the bus at the Pleasure Island stop and checked out the shops on the West Side. Kyle really enjoyed the Magic Masters shop. We left there with a promise to return after dinner.
We arrived at Wolfgang Puck Café just before our ADR time. There were only 1 or 2 other parties in the restaurant. It remained pretty quiet while we were there, but did pick up a little bit.
I was the only one that had an appetizer. I had the caesar salad. It was very good.
For dinner, Jeffrey had the prime rib
Kyle had a giant sized meatball (the size of a baseball) and spaghetti (it had another name….it was giant sized too…..hollow in the middle)
I had the Wolf-fredo Fettuccini, which had a nice zip to it. I really enjoyed it.
For dessert, Kyle asked for a bowl of fresh strawberries. It wasn’t on the menu, but they accommodated his request. I had the white chocolate cheesecake, which was very good, but I didn’t finish it because I was so full.
Jeffrey opted not to have dessert. I don’t think he was feeling very well that day. It was a nice meal. Since we went so early, it was nice & quiet. We enjoyed that from the hustle & bustle of activity that had been encompassing most of our days. This was a first for us & I do believe we would go here again.
Once we were finished Kyle wanted to head back to Magic Masters. We stayed in there for quite a while. Kyle hadn’t purchased much this trip, so he decided he wanted Rocky the Raccoon and the silk vanishing tricks.
With the child happy, we moseyed on over to World of Disney for pin trading at 6:30pm. There was a nice local man there, who accepted anything for Cast Lanyard pins. Kyle was excited to see that he had a Huey pin that he had been looking for. Kyle made a trade and then we didn’t even stay because Kyle wasn’t interested in the pins the CM had brought out.
We made our way back to Pleasure Island to the Comedy Warehouse & got in line for the first show. I figured it would be a “sell-out,” but the room wasn’t even half full. Since we had gotten there so early, we were in the front row. The show did not disappoint. Kyle loved it. He was called on twice for responses, which absolutely made his night.
Before
After
The night was still young, so we boarded a bus and headed to the Magic Kingdom. I don’t remember which bus we took. We must have taken a resort bus & then transferred to a Magic Kingdom bus at that resort. We were ready for some EMH time in the MK!!
Up Next: The night of vomit in the “queer” lines.

Dyahn - I the Fettucini Wolfredo! It's one of my favorite dishes at WPC. I'd love to get the recipe.
I'm curious to hear about your EMH night at MK. Sounds like an "interesting" evening.

Day 11 - Friday, August 11, 2006 – part 2
Now playing: The night of vomit in the “queer” lines.
We entered the Magic Kingdom just before the start of Wishes. We headed over to Tomorrowland and walked on Stitch’s Great Escape. The theatre wasn’t even half full. We had the best seats in the place. We even got spit on! Yuck!!
We survived the chili dog breath and headed out to enjoy the rest of our evening; the evening of vomit in the “queer” lines. There was sawdust everywhere we walked. It was the oddest thing we have ever encountered at WDW. We’ve run into the occasional protein spill, but this night there were land mines everywhere! Maybe there was a dehydration epidemic, I don’t know.
We walked on Buzz Lightyear. Kyle wanted to ride alone, so Jeffrey & I rode together. I am pleased to announce that I am still the champion in my family.
Jeffrey’s score
My score (Not my best, but better than his!! hee hee A video game I can beat him at!! Why does that feel so good???)
Jeffrey planned to ride Space Mountain, but didn’t like that the line was outside – all the way to Astro Orbiter. I told him they probably weren’t using the “queer” line due to vomit. He decided to stick with us.
We took a relaxing ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. This is one of our family’s favorite rides. There is never a line, so we can never resist taking a spin.
We opted out of riding the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway. There was only a 5 minute wait at the Mad Tea Party, so on we went. Kyle spun us so hard, I thought I’d be added to that list of vomit contributors!
The ride stopped at just the right time, thus saving my stomach an unfortunate experience. We hadn’t experienced Snow White’s Scary Adventures yet this trip, so we went over there. We enjoyed the ride. (Well, Jeffrey & I enjoyed the ride. Kyle made it quite clear that he was too cool for this ride! I also think he thought we were going to get into trouble because I was taking photos using the flash! Shame on me AGAIN! )
We journeyed through Neverland next. this photo of Kyle!
We couldn’t resist another ride on the Haunted Mansion, so off we went. The line was non-existent, as was the wait. It was to be the last ride of the night.
We decided to use some of our snack credits at Aloha Isle. (We usually frequent Sunshine Tree Terrace - those Citrus Swirls – but wanted to check out the Dole Whips, as we always seem to forget as we have Dole Whips at home. I really wanted to know if they were the same thing.) The line was very slow, but we eventually satisfied our goal. Kyle had a vanilla Dole Whip in a cup with rainbow sprinkles, Jeffrey had a root beer float and I had the Pineapple Dole Whip Float. Yummy! (It is the same Dole Whip we have at home too. We don’t usually have pineapple, but the consistency was just the same!!). Here is a picture of my float. You can tell how hot it was as I merely walked from the counter to the first table in order to take a photo. It was melting mighty fast in that hot & humid air!!
We sipped our treats down until we could walk with them. Then we found a bench in front of the castle to watch it change colors. We sat there for quite a while; I was trying to take it all in & firmly implant that beautiful castle in my brain. I still don’t get the mirror, but all of that gold detailing was incredible. After a few pictures, we decided to head back to Coronado.
A stop for a Photopass picture and we were on our way!
We made it back lickity split. Jeffrey & Kyle ran to fill up our mugs and get ice for my foot. Icing it every night certainly helped get through each day. The boys made plans to hit Blizzard Beach in the morning and we went to bed.
Up Next: It’s another trip report DETOUR!
