As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I can't wait to find out what your favorite ride in the MK is. I'm going to guess the Haunted Mansion.

It looks like you guys had so much fun that morning - I was at the bit about the different words to the Hokey Kokey. I could just picture Kat telling Snow White off! And how cute was the football (it's football, not soccer right? ) with Tigger and Stitch. What I want to know now is do you have to have a young child with you to experince this? Re: The \'Ohana - means family - means nobody gets left behind\' trip report. Day 2 UPDATE 9/3
[b] <font color="purple"> Matt and I decided to put our ‘any ride’ FP to good use and rode Space Mountain (nope, not my favourite , though I do like SM, it was one of the first rides I ever did at Disney, so it has a high nostalgia factor). We then wandered around Tomorrowland a bit, and contemplated doing Alien Encounter with Stitch, or whatever it’s called now, but I had other plans.
Now, I did have an agenda, because Steve thinks the attraction that I enjoy the most, is a yawnfest and I know it wouldn’t suit Kat, but as soon as Steve and Kat departed our company I knew precisely what my ultimate destination would be.
Are you ready? Have you guessed yet? Ok. Deep breathe. Drumroll……………..have I created enough suspense yet?……………Karen’s favourite attraction in the MK is……………mmm I sort of wish I hadn’t started this……………..I’m a bit embarrassed all after this fanfare……………THE HALL OF PRESIDENTS. See I told you, you’d never get it!
Well, I have to tell you, I love the HoP. It’s nothing to do with being patriotic (well it wouldn’t be would it, being a Brit), but I think it’s just fabulous. And it’s far more than a respite from the heat (I get seriously narky at folks who tell me they go to the HoP for a nap). I enjoy the film at the beginning (not knowing much about American history I find it interesting) but the piece de resistance is of course, when all the presidents do their bit at the end. Audio animotronics at their very best. I generally pick a president and watch that one president during the entire performance. Watch how they wiggle their fingers, move their heads, pick their noses etc. It’s fascinating.
Seems that not many people share my passion, because Matt and I were the only ones in the show. Which was great because it meant I didn’t have to put on a fake accent (I’m always in fear of being the recipient of rotten eggs during the ‘how we gained freedom from the evil Brits’ bit of the film). And I shared my tip with Matt. He watched Jimmy Carter whilst I observed Ronald Reagan. It was great. Double the fun!
Ahem. After all that excitement, I needed a Dole Float. On the way to Adventureland we snapped some photos outside the castle. This was my attempt.
And this was the PhotoPass guy’s
We mooched over to the Aloha Isle and bought said Dole Float to share.
Two seconds later, this Dole Float was all over the table. I blame the wobbly table. We hadn’t even had a sip. So I took the empty cup back and pointed to the mess all over the table. I was very apologetic and very nice, but they weren’t for giving me another, which I thought very unDisney. So I continued to smile, but pointed out, perhaps a little forcibly, that their table had in fact caused the demise of my Dole Float so they’d better give me another or the smiles would stop right there. Anyway, a replacement was issued and peace was maintained.
“Gee, I sure would like a taste of that Dole Float”
Isn’t Pal Mickey clever? If yours doesn’t offer an opinion on food and snacks around WDW, he is obviously malfunctioning and I suggest you request a refund.
My thoughts on the Dole Float? Yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy.
I was feeling a little guilty at being out so long without Steve and Kat, so we headed back to the WL, stopping only to pick up some chocolate strawberries for Kat from Main Street. (We were having a lot of trouble using up our snack credits, by the way).
Back at the ranch, or more specifically the Lodge, we were met with the telly (32 “ flat screen telly I might add) warning of impending hurricane Ernesto. Oh heck, us Brits aren’t used to freak weather conditions. We moan if it’s over 65 degrees (and we’re all subjected to hose pipe bans) and on the rare occasions that the temperature drops below freezing, schools close. No, we love to complain about the weather, it defines us as a nation. In reality most of us are quite happy with high 50s and light drizzle. Anyhow, the point being, that we were all petrified at the thought of a hurricane. Visions of giraffes and elephants from the Animal Kingdom flying through the air and landing in Epcot filled our thoughts.
So it was in a more sombre mood that we planned for our evening at Epcot.
Coming next: Dinner at the Garden Grill

Re: The \'Ohana - means family - means nobody gets left behind\' trip report. Day 2 UPDATE 9/3
I grew up with hurricanes, so they are no biggie. But the thought of an earthquake scares me to death. I know it's silly, but I'm sort of nervous about our upcoming trip to CA. I keep thinking about earthquakes and wouldn't it be just my luck that one would occur while we are there. Silly me.
Hall of Presidents, huh? Well...I have to admit, I have only seen it once. I was about 10. And, I have never taken my dh and dd. I think we need to go next time we visit. It's nice to know you like it so much.
More please...

Karen - Loved your update. You're right I never would have guessed HoP, but I happen to be a fan of incredible audio animotronics as well. The American Adventure is one of my favorite attractions at Epcot and I have to drag my family every time we go.

You are so right Karen - that really is us all over! And I'd be in exactly the same frame of mind as you at the prospect of an impending hurricane too....
