As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Terrific stuff, Angie (the TR, the hair, the smilies... )
I'm sensing that your Colorado friends aren't the right ones to be touring WDW with. Sounds like you need Tara or Mo... or ME!!!

I think you need to share your beauty secrets with us! If I remember correctly, this is not the first time someone at WDW thought you were a teenager. But I won't say who they thought was your mom.
Love the new hair! And I am loving your report. Sounds like you are having a good time even with the few bumps in the road.
I am with you on RFC. BTDT, won't be going back any time soon.
Can't wait for more.

Angie, your tongue must have a dent in it from biting it (e.g. holding your tongue)! Your next trip (when I see you in October) will be with those that truly appreciate touring the world.

I love your trip reports. I just caught up and am waiting for more. I give you credit for going with another family, it's just so hard especially if they are not like you when it comes to planning. When I go on vacation with other people I give them my itinerary and tell them this is what I am doing, you are more than welcome to join me

Re: Three strikes & you\'re out trip! 6/6-6/11/06 Updated 6/29 Day 3, part 1!
Thursday June 8th- Day 3, Part 1- If you build it, they will ride….
When we finally started stirring , I couldn’t believe that it was already 11:30am! I’d been smart enough last night to slip the PRIVACY PLEASE card into our key slot, so no getting woken up by mousekeeping. We ate snacks that I’d brought from home and watched some tv for another hour. After showers and primping we headed for the bus stop, but not before a quick stop for another chocolate shake for Joe!
After waiting for a good 15-20 minutes a DTD bus pulled in. Funny, this time the driver announced that the stop to BB would be after DTD. While on the bus, I decided the Havens should be settling into their new room or at least hangin’ by the pool @SSR, so I gave them a . Heidi said they’d just gotten into their new accommodations and were ready to head on over to DTD. I asked if they’d had lunch, as I was starving and I figured it would be a perfect day to introduce them to Earl of Sandwich, one of my favorite counter service meals in Disney. They said they hadn’t, but…. Since DisneyQuest was all the way over on the WEST SIDE, they didn’t want to walk to the marketplace and then back to the Westside. “You'd be taking the bus TO the marketplace and then we’d STROLL over to the Westside, since we weren’t in any rush today”- I thought , but I bit my tongue yet again.
They suggested eating at Planet Hollywood, huh, ugh…. !!! This time I did speak up and said I did not want to eat at another over priced chain restaurant. Not only would it be more expensive, but we’d be wasting more time waiting to get seated, served etc. They let it go, but asked if we could just meet up under the PH awning and decide from there.
Joey and I arrived first, but waited only a few minutes before they joined us. They were still leaning toward PH, but I stood firm and said if they really wanted to they could go and we would meet up with them afterwards. They nixed that idea, but threw another curveball at me.
“We were actually thinking of not going to DisneyQuest. Have you seen what it costs?"
“Uh, yeah, I do my research before hand!” (In my head)
This time I did show disappointment, “But we’ve been planning this since 2004 when our first visit to DQ got canceled?” (Due to the hurricane)
Heidi then remedied the situation by asking if it would be ok if she and Troy backed out and I go with the kids. Whew! Although I would’ve liked all of us to experience it together, I was relieved that the girls would be allowed to go. As far as eating I told them that there was a Cheesecake Factory Express inside DQ, so we’d eat inside. That settled we headed over to DQ.
As they are purchasing the girls’ tickets I remind them that they get a DVC discount on them. I'm teasing!
Heidi then gave the girls some money for food and said they’d probably go to a movie and then head back to the resort to sit by the pool.
We’d head over to SSR afterwards to meet up, freshen up and head to Pleasure Island that night.
At the turnstiles to get into DQ was a CM with a lanyard and I spotted a pin on it right away that I knew my sister would love. I voiced this to him, but sadly I had left my pins in the room today. He said he was in a very generous mood today and proceeded to give me the pin!! He asked “Now are you sure that your sister is going to like it?” to which I exclaimed “Absolutely! She’s an Aries!” The pin had a lamb and the sign Aries on it. I don’t know how this lamb ties into Disney, unless it’s a character in “Home on the Range” which sadly, I have no desire to see.
We then got in the elevator that would take us to “Ventureport”. The elevator ride was an experience in and of itself, featuring one of my favorite characters Genie. I won’t give it away, for those who haven’t experienced it yet.
*For those hoping to try DQ on an upcoming trip, I suggest you do so. Rumor has it that it will be permanently closing within the next year*

We started with Virtual Jungle Cruise, which we stunk at! I kinda expected to get splashed with water during this, but nope.
Next we tried Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride, in which, as a team, we tried to collect as many jewels as we could to trade in for the lamp, if we ever found it.
We didn’t.
I think I screwed it up. I REALLY stink at this stuff!
We couldn’t hold off any longer to try out the pièce de résistance, Cyber Space Mountain.
We queued up and the wait was short enough that we could’ve each gone individually to design our own coaster, but we paired up instead, DFD and I and DS and DFS.
We got our little lesson, before getting the first crack at it. We were aiming for a level 5 coaster, that being the most extreme design. We tried putting in enough inversions and such, but only ended with a level 3.
We got in line to ride our creation, with DS and DFS not far behind. They’d only achieved a level 3 as well. That was settled, we’d be going back to give it another try. I then proposed that we design a coaster that the other 2 would then ride. Isn’t part of the fun of a coaster the suspense of the unknown? Well, at least the first time! All were in favor. We did cheat by asking the CM how to accomplish it.
As you wait for your turn to go into the “POD” you get catch the tail end of the guests riding at that moment, on video. We giggled as we saw some reactions.
It was then our turn and although fun, it was definitely a level 3.
We excitedly walked back to the queue and were immediately ushered to build the ultimate vomit comet!
We put in as many loops as possible and ended up with …. A level 5! We giggled mischievously, as we handed Joey and Stormy the card that held our version and they did the same. They had ended up with a level 5 as well. UH-OH..
It was loads of fun. Dusty and I finished first so we were able to see the tail end of our victims ride. Joey looked kinda green , but Stormy stated “That was cool” as the ride ended. A video of your ride is available for purchase, but we didn’t.
Our stomachs were really grumbling now, so we headed to FoodQuest by Cheese Cake Factory Express. I don’t remember exactly what everyone else ordered, although I can be quite certain that it was either burgers or chicken strips.
I on the other hand ordered a grilled chicken sandwich that I wish I would’ve taken a picture of. This piece of chicken was huge and enough to have made another sandwich. I ended up leaving half out of my sandwich. It was good though.
We took it easy after eating by playing some video games and air hockey. Then we did the “Ride the Comics” where you battle super-villains with what looks like a light-saber .
I actually did quite well on this and would’ve done it again had the headgear not been was sooo heavy.
WHAT THE HEAVY HELMET ATTACHES TO
Afterwards, we did Invasion! An ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. We then headed to Buzz Lighter’s Astroblaster, where you get into bumper car type vehicles. It’s 2 to a car and the driver is responsible for collecting “asteroids” by driving over them and they get sucked into the shoot where the gunner loads the cannon and tries to hit the starbursts painted on other vehicles. If you hit the target that vehicle gets spun out of control! We rode this 2x, reversing our roles on the second turn. I believe we rode Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for Buccaneer Gold next and liked enough that we wanted to do it again, but we wanted to get some cheesecake, too, so we said we’d return.
I know I got a chocolate mousse cup and Dusty bought 2 slices of different flavored CC to take back to her folks. We found seats at a booth in the internet café and the had time left on it from the previous user so we used that free time up while we ate!
At this point DFD accompanied me to gift shop, so that I could see if they had a cool DQ pin. I should’ve known better and waited until we were ready to leave, as like every other attraction at Disney the only way to exit is THROUGH the gift shop!
We ended up having to walk around and back into the entrance. At least I got to ride the elevator again!
We went back up to collect the rest of our party as it was getting late and the girls wanted to take showers and change for their night out @PI!
Up next – Day 3, Part 2-What do you mean there isn’t one? And the party pooper!

I've seen these on Disneydirect...they have Stitch ones and he's different depending on each sign...
I'm glad you stood your ground about PH.... I know what you mean about eating at a chain place! Especially at WDW!!
Great update and what fun at DQ! We have yet to do that, even though it has been talked about on all our past trips.....

Wow...what detail on DQ! DH and I have never done it and we might have to rearrange some time to go and try it out in October. It sounds like there are things we both would enjoy.
Another great update Angie!!

Everything is included with admission. The only thing you have to pay for is if you use those little photo booths and to purchase anything you make at the various stations ie:make your own music C.D, your own toy a la Sid from Toy Story, the Cyber Space DVD. You can also leave and re-enter for free as many times as you'd like during a that day!

Glad you got into DQ. It was probably more fun with only you and the younger generation. I've never tried this, but it sounds like blast. I know my DS20 and DD22 would love it.
Waiting for more please............

Congrats on achieving the level 5 coaster!! (Didja happen to look down when climbing in the red pill to see the little three-letter plaque. Veeeeerrrry familiar to the DH and Calder.)
Fantastic that Ride the Comix didn't make you sick! Always does the DH in!
I'm so glad that you're going again soon with Disneyfanatics for Melissa's birthday -- I KNOW you'll get to tour and see the sights with people who know how to make the most of a trip. ( <mutter, mutter> 2-day park hoppers... )
