I'm going to Disneyland! with 50 teenagers...what? PTR - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

My lists are all under my "notes" in my iPad : ) we leave Sunday for the 6 hour drive to New Hampshire. Flying out painfully early Monday morning. I'll keep at eye out for you and the choir group : ).
So sweet of you all to get lanyards for all the kids you will be chaperoning. My whole reason for making lists is to stop that "head rattle." In fact, you've reminded me that I need to get busy making some of my usual lists in preparation for our May WDW trip.
My family teases me about my lists but I'm glad I'm not the only one.

You'll see in my next post, I might have plans down but other people have different ideas. I understand about WDW, however there is something special about DL, hope you make it there someday.

That is annoying about the sunglasses, as you're definitely going to need those on your trip.
Yeah! Another list maker, In fact, when I went to get the sunglasses, they had the same type which I really like and when I got home DD asked me where I found my sunglasses. At the store of course!

You'll be in Disney before me! See if you can encourage the crowds to leave before we arrive, would ya? Especially since TP is now forecasting 9's .
Thursday - performance day. 3 days until we leave!
I'm planning on trying to get in RSRs first thing. First time for me, the last time we were in DL Carrs land hadn't even been built yet! We only have 2 hours this morning so will see what other things do not have long lines, possibles are TOT, Little Mermaid or the other rides in Carrs Land.
10AM leave CA and meet Disney DM at Toontown bridge at 10:30AM. Students will be lead backstage to change, warm up and so on. Then shortly before noon the CM will lead the choir to Fantasy Land theater where they will perform from 12-12:30PM. When they are done the CM will once again lead them backstage to change.
The first order of business after the performance is lunch! I'm sure everyone will be . We will spend the rest of the day in CA, I'm disappointed that Soarin' is closed, oh well - next time.
After WOC we'll meet and head back to hotel a little early so that everyone can pack before lights out.

I hope you get to do Radiator Springs Racers - it's so much fun!
I will do my best to ride it, although I will not stand in line an hour to do so; guess I'll have to get FP's before they run out.

How could TP suddenly predict 9's?? Nooooooo! I still don't buy it. I still don't believe it. My money is on the crowds clearing out this Sunday.
Maybe we'll catch the choir in fantasyland Thursday: )
The last I knew it was closed, I didn't know it had reopened so Yeah! I really like the ride and was disappointed when I thought it was closed. TP has had 9s up for a week and a half now - so they've joined all the other predictors that say it's going to be very crowded. That would be great if you catch the kids singing for a few minutes.

Well if it helps, I surveyed about 100 other agents across the U.S. Last month and we only found 3 states with some counties on spring break next week. One was GA, which will overwhelmingly be going to wdw rather than DL.
All that being said, I hear F&W will draw even bigger weekend crowds. We are lucky to be able to schedule our park days for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and then Monday, Tuesday. We are lucky to be able to do EMH each morning.

I know Soarin' is closing for some time in both DL and WDW to enlarge the experience with another ride and queue so many more can experience it as being so popular! Wait times in WDW are well over an hour even in the slow season!

Like you, I'm am definitely a list person for my WDW trips! I guess, I'm quite an oddball here with this as it's not usually a "Male" thing!

Well, it depends what time you're getting there - if it is literally as the park opens, you might be best just heading straight to the ride, as the line to get Fastpasses regularly stretches back past the Carthay Circle. Of course, if you can't be there at opening, Fastpasses are probably the only way to go.

All we can do is hope, there are supposed to be showers Friday and Saturday which keeps crowds lower although it also means outdoor rides will be shut down. I think I'd almost have less crowds. When we were there last in December it was raining and windy one day and we had the place to ourselves almost.

Soarin's been open all this last week so I'll get to see if it's the new film or the regular one. FP's are definitely the way to go because I will not stand in any ride more than 20 minutes.

True, but I think organized people, no matter whether male or female often do lists.

I figure that Thursday, since it's not EMH for hotel guests we'll go directly to the ride and Friday to pick up FP's.
It seemed like this trip would never get here and all of a sudden it's here!
I have been gathering items for packing. Ordered portable chargers for our phones and got them charged today. Still need to charge my kindle and DD's tablet which we want for the plane. I was thinking about bringing a camera rather than just my phone but cannot find the battery charger for mine and cannot find DD's at all. Maybe tomorrow. I also need to go into touring plans and make adjustments since both Soarin' and Grizzly River Run are up and running so that I can add them into our day. It's seems like my to do list is growing rather than shrinking!
Oh well, I still have one more day to get everything wrapped up.
Friday, I am planning to get FP's for RSR if students want to ride that again then while we are waiting for them to go over to DL for favorite rides then back to ride RSR before grabbing lunch. We have to meet at 12:30 to return to hotel, pick up luggage and put students on the bus.
Once that is done, DD and I will walk down to Legacy at the Park (used to be Ramada Maingate) and hopefully be able to check in; then over to the park to add a day to our tickets. After that we will spend the rest of the day at California Adventure. If I haven't gotten to ride TSM yet that is one thing I definitely want to do. We also want some time just to explore. We have reservations at Wine County T. for WOC. When I heard Disney started a desert party for WOC I was really thinking about switching but DD is excited about a fancy dinner and wanted to keep that so I did.
More than likely we will be tired and after WOC just go back to the hotel and sleep because it looks like the choir will not be using the MM on the tickets so DD and I will use them Saturday morning which means arriving by 6:30 AM Saturday for the 7AM MM. I know it's early but we can get in all our must do's first thing with very little lines then even if it gets crowded Saturday we are exploring and shopping and not doing rides unless the lines are low and DD decides she really wants to do one more.
