The Trip Full of Thanksgiving and Christmas 11/19-11/28 - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We had awhile before the Expedition Everest Fastpass. My husband mentioned getting a frozen chai, so we headed toward Asia. On our way we saw the line for Baloo and King Louie wasn't long, so we got in it. It was fun to see them in their holiday finery.
Caden asked Baloo if be and King Louie get along now, since in the movie they don't always very much. They let us know they do now, and especially at Christmas time.
We walked a little further and there was another set of PhotoPass photographers, many of which were just "earning their ears", so we stopped again.
This seemed a popular pose today.
We stopped for an iced chai. It was pretty good, but it is funny how it wasn't quite as good as that 100 degree day last time. The guys rode Expedition Everest.
And we caught this photopass photographer by the bridge.
We then decided to do the maharajah jungle trek. The boys went in the Bay Area. They freak me out so I waited for them, but this guy kept staring at me.
Preston began to feel poorly again, and Caden was saying he was tired, and frankly so was I.
The tiger are was particularly crowded and we were trying to take our turns, but the amount of people pushing in front of us didn't help. I didn't get great pictures.
We came to an area with some okapi and there was a bench, so we sat and rested for awhile. There was another woman there with her older son Reston as well. We got to chatting. It turns out they were from Michigan and we talked about the snowstorm that was hitting back home, but we were sitting here in shorts and sweating. How wonderful that was!
Our next Fastpass wasn't until 4:30 for the Nemp show, but there was no way we were going to make it that long. We decided to see if we could just do an earlier show.
I snapped these pictures on the way.
We got right in line for the Nemo Show. We have never managed to see this one before. We ended up getting seats down front right next to the Fastpass section.
We really enjoyed the show. Caden particularly takes about it often that night. Tim noticed that the guy that played Crush in that is also a singer in Voiceplay, that was singing at the Christmas party. He amazes me with how he notices things like that. He even tweeted it on the guys page, and he shared it. Pretty cool.
Much happier that we were able to see an earlier show we headed back to the resort. We all took a nap.
Up next: We need to come back here, so rearrange everything to make it happen.
After our nap we all felt much better. It was getting time for our dinner reservation at Cape May. It wasn't raining at the moment and made for a beautiful night strolling through Epcot.
We got some Photopass pictures that I will post later.
I am disappointed with how this picture turned out, but it shows the Eiffel Tower being illuminated in tribute.
Tim couldn't believe how light the crowds were and said he wanted to come back later that night to enjoy the World Showcase. I had hoped to see Illuminations that evening too, so that sounded good to me.
We made our way to the International Gateway and made our way to the Beach Club.
I was very happy to see this was up and running.
We checked in at Cape May and wandered the lobby while waiting for our buzzer to go off.
We were soon called in to our favorite restaurant and were seated in a great spot, not far from the buffet. As you can tell, Preston still wasn't feeling 100%.
Tim's plate:
My plate:
Looks great, doesn't it? Not so much. The crab legs were still frozen in the middle. I alerted the server right away and within a minute several chefs were out there to remedy the situation. The next batch I had were perfect.
Can't talk, must eat.
Preston's second plate. Or maybe it was the third.
I love their mashed potatoes. So good. But that salmon was the star of the night. It was so good! And not overcooked. The flavor was amazing. I ate so much of it I didn't get dessert.
But Caden did.
And Tim did.
So while we enjoyed our meal, we decided to try something else next time. It was okay, but the frozen crab legs made me not want to rush back. We used the restrooms and then decided to head back to Epcot.
There is something about going to Cape May that causes it to rain on us. Sure enough, we step out the front door and it starts to rain. We stand there trying to decide what to do. At this point it is quite a walk to get back to the bus from Epcot. Maybe we could walk over to Hollywood Studios? The heavens opened up. It was a cold rain too. I had the idea to catch the boat to Hollywood Studios, knowing the buses are right there. That is what we did. As it was torrentially raining we made our way over to Hollywood Stidios with a few stops along the way, each letting on soaking wet people. Caden and I were wearing our ponchos, but we still got wet with the rain coming through the plastic windows.
On the way there Tim said we needed another evening in Epcot since that night didn't work out. We talked about how to make that happen, and decided Thanksgiving night would have to be it. We cancelled 1900 Park Fare for that evening and decided to eat quick service somewhere, since our main meal would be at Liverty Tree Tavern that day anyway.
Eventually we got to Hollywood Studios, just in time for the rain to let up, and caught a bus right away back to the resort. We got to sleep easily this evening.
Some firsts we did today: the Nemo Show, seeing the Lion King show in the new location, and taking the boat to Hollywood Studios.

What a great time in the AK! It is always a problem when trying to get a photo of the tigers with too many people trying to push their way to the windows!
Cape May looked good except for the frozen crab legs and Anna and Elsa were no where to be seen! I guess Preston was feeling a bit better considering how much he devoured at CMC.

The people at the tiger area were just ridiculous. There was a CM there trying to guide people but it was a losing battle. You are right, I think those crab legs were meant for Elsa! Ha! Preston can eat and eat even when sick. I don't know where he puts it. He needed it apparently because he started to feel better.

Looks like you're having a wonderful time, although all the holiday pics are making me jealous, as we aren't going this holiday season and probably won't get back for the holidays until 2017.

It was our first time during the holiday season and it sure made me wish I could go more often. I can see why so many people want to go!
What a fun safari, especially since I got to ride along! Sorry Cape May wasn't up to par this evening, but it looks like none of you went away hungry. But darn the weather spoiled your light crowd night at Epcot.
