PTR - Cruising with the Perry's on the Fantasy updated 12/04/2013 - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The Royal tea party sounds like a wonderful experience.
It was! I hope it turns out to be a big hit and they start offering it on the other cruises as well.

Yes, Disney outdid themselves for every Princess and Prince that attended! Thank you for the comment! This is actually her Halloween costume also. The kids dessert plate was very sweet with all of the icing. Haleigh didn't want to eat the Cinderella white chocolate because she thought it was really a picture and didn't know it was edible. .

Thank you! It was fun and I hope to experience it with Lydia when she's older.

I know! I was shocked when we walked in and I saw everything. It definitely justified the price and even though this was a gift from my parents, I would pay that next time seeing everything she got and the one-on-one time each child received from the Princesses. I'll be sure to work it in my budget

After the tea party we met Matt and Lydia then headed up to Deck 4 to meet Mickey Mouse.
Before dinner we went to the bar and got drinks. Tonight's dinner was at AP. I took lots of photos of the decor. I'm not a great photographer, but I'll post a few. I noticed it was slightly different than the first night. Tonight at dinner we were supposed to draw a person, which would later be on the screen. I don't know how Disney did this but it WOW'd us!
This was Haleigh's drawing on the screen
The drawing on the far right is mine.
Dessert was amazing. I had 2
Haleigh's dessert
Haleigh and her drawing
After dinner we each grabbed drinks and went back up to the room and relaxed.
Up Next: Chocolate and Wine go well together

Thursday, September 12 Day at Sea
We got up and had breakfast at Cabana's. We choose to do that instead of ordering room service since the menu is small, we noticed everyone was getting very hungry shortly after breakfast, and Cabana's has more choices
After breakfast we met up with DD's new friend Haley and her mom Amy to go swimming. We swam for almost 2 hours watching The Incredibles on the big screen, Lydia napped and I read my kindle. Very relaxing. I got to ride the AquaDuck three times. Considering this was a day at sea, there was no line which was awesome.
Matt, Haleigh and Haley swimming
I had told Haley's mom Amy that Matt and I were going to a Chocolate and Wine tasting today and I invited her to come with us. I knew that you had to make reservations, but I was sure she wouldn't have a problem getting in. I was hoping Matt wouldn't be upset that I had invited someone (AKA a new friend I met), but she was traveling alone with her daughter, she loves wine and chocolate, she had no plans, our girls were getting along great, sounded like a no brainer! He didn't care. Score for awesome DH. The reservation was for 12:15 so around 11 we went back to the room to get ready.
This tasting is $30 a piece and it was worth it, but in my opinion I could have used more chocolate. We arrived and met Amy, there was another couple that didn't show. so she got their table.
I really wish I would have taken a notebook to write all this down, but we started on the left and the glass in the photo is empty, it was champagne and wasn't filled until the show started. The third glass from the left I was bummed because it wasn't chocolate. It was Parmesan cheese with a stick of chocolate. Yes, it went well with the wine, but I wanted all chocolate!
Each of the wines was paired with chocolates and the instructor asked us "Does the chocolate make the wine taste good or does the wine make the chocolate taste better?" I couldn't tell, honestly. I love chocolate and I love wine, this was a match made in heaven. The last drink we had was not wine, but whiskey. Eek! I could only take two sips. I'll stick with the dessert for that one. There were maybe 13-14 people in the room and 2 couples had done this tasting the day before, so they knew what to expect. I personally would not have done this twice. I wouldn't have minded also participating in the Martini tasting. I think the price was fine for the number of drinks and desserts you received.
At the end, the let us drink the poured glasses from the folks that didn't show up. Amy ended up having a great time and she thanked me for inviting her. The presentation lasted 45 minutes. After that Amy went to rest before picking up Haley at the Oceaneers Lab. Matt and I went to grab lunch.
Tomato and Mozzarella Panini
Mickey Pretzel ( I ate some of his ear before remembering to snap a picture)
I also had a chicken salad wrap that was delicious.
We rested on deck 4. Loved that spot!
By now it was time to pick up the girls. Haleigh went with my parents to take a nap and we went back to deck 4 so Lydia could nap as well. We had also received a free coffee we wanted to grab before going back to deck 4. If you go to deck 5 or the Adult only coffee shop and receive 5 stamps then your next coffee is free! Matt will only drink iced coffee so he spent a lot of time the first few days experimenting with the crew trying to Per-fect Starbucks iced coffee.
After resting on deck 4 I went to Shutters to view our pictures. I wasn't happen with any of them and glad I hadn't paid the $300 for all of them. It was nothing to do with Disney it was the fact that I had a 15 month old baby that would only sit still to eat! LOL None of our pictures turned out good. Last year I bought photos, but Lydia was just a baby so they all looked perfect in my eyes. I wasn't bummed at all because we saw more characters on this cruise than last year and I got some great pictures then.
It was turning out to be a fantastic day! We got to swim, drink wine and eat chocolate, nap and enjoy being around new friends!
It's great that you and Amy got along so well and I'm sure that having met you made her trip so much better. Haley and Haleigh got along so well and then she got to have some adult conversation, which I'm sure she didn't expect from the mommy-daughter cruise! That first photo of Lydia on the deck chair is too adorable!

We exchanged address and phone numbers before we left. The girls have talked on the phone once since then and have each sent the other cards and pictures they colored. Very sweet!
