Star Wars Weekends: Episode IV - New Hope(s) May/June 2012 - Page 75 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Catching up again after being out of town. Sounds like a great trip!!! Only a LITTLE sad that we were supposed to be there for SWW and it didn't happen, but maybe another time
I was going to weigh in on the shoe decision, but I fortunately read all the way through to the ones you bought before doing so. I like the ones you bought a lot and I think it is a good idea to not get ones with the toe separators when you are going to be walking so much. Your pics reminded me of my sister deciding on her shoes to wear for our Grand Canyon hiking--I think she bought 3 different pairs
If you have a Marty and Liz (secondhand shoe store) near you, they are awesome for those types of shoes. I got my Merrells and Clarks there for $25 each, but the deal you got is definitely in the same ball park
Sounds like a fun evening! Love the pics of both boys, what little cuties!
Love the pics of Nemo, we ride that a few times each trip, as my DD loves it! Last trip, we just looked at everything in the Seas and didn't have anywhere to be. When we walked out of the building I looked at the time and we had been in there for 2 hours!

OMG - those ice cream hats brought me back to when I was six or seven and we'd ride our bikes up to the "Tasty Freeze" on Lorain Rd. They'd serve our sundaes in MLB hats just like that! We'd always fight for our favorite teams
We have the same slide and we used it in the small pool before we invested in the larger above ground. Sounds like a nice weekend!
What a great evening at Epcot - sorry you weren't feeling all that well!

Well I like the extras.
A good day, all in all. Poor Pluto.
Thanks Kenny!

I also loved Dylan's pouty face. Two reasons...it's cute...and it's nice to know we're not the only ones who have those who might not want to cooperate all the time
The haircuts are adorable!!! I usually get the boys cut before we go, but maybe I'll wait and have Jason's done there. Tyler's just too cool now.
The 4th looked like a lot of fun, and that slip&slide is awesome!!
Gotta love Lukas's ice cream hat!
Love Mike's shirt. I wanted to get that for Craig but couldn't find it at Target.
And I get those capsules at the dollar store all the time. I use them for inside Easter eggs too!
Gotta show what some are really like on vacation. Towards the end of the week one of them was carrying on about something and a guy said 'I feel the same way, but I can't carry on like that.' I've seen adults getting their haircut in there, but I get that Tyler is probably too cool. Jason would enjoy it though I think. Mike is a pretty big Yankees fan so we have lots of Yankees stuff too. Buster is currently sporting his Yankee collar, but eats out of a Cardinals dish. Great idea on the Easter eggs! I'll have to remember that.

We have a theater like the one you described - drinks and a movie is a wonderful thing. We've only been once since it opened, but I'm looking forward to going back. You know when I can actually have a margarita again.
It would be a nice theater for being pregnant too though - fully reclining comfy chairs? We saw Pirates 3 when I was pregnant and those seats get uncomfortable quick!

Lukas looks like a little cherub! And I love the little PPer meet at CP. You looked like you had some great character interaction going on, and I think Eeyore was looking at Dylan's haircut and thinking that it was getting a bit too long. Seems like you all were on the same page with that one.
Lukas a cherub - that's funny. Because he is definitely not a cherub. He may look like one (sometimes), but he is a stinker! I was tempted to cut his hair before we left, but then I didn't think it would grow out enough to need it while we were there.

I had a nice weekend but chipped a tooth on Saturday and can't get it fixed til Tues. Thankfully it isn't really sore - just weird I guess. Also could get my car to start. Had it towed to the shop and it need a new key cyclinder as the key wouldn't turn. Its all fixed now. More of a pain than anything else.
Evan come home tomorrow - Jeez I miss that little boy so much.
I'm sure we won't see 80s for quite some time. Rough weekend Holly! for you! And I'm sure you're missing Evan! How long has he been gone?

I've never heard of Marty & Liz - sure wish we had one; although it might be a bit dangerous too.

Can't wait to hear about the safari tomorrow!
And I'm sure those 2 hours barely felt like 20 minutes.

I see the boys collecting several hats over the years. They offer every team so we may just start a collection. Is your slide taken apart from the swing that attached to it. Mike's parents have the above ground now so we just go there. You can see we don't have room for a full pool - we barely have a yard.

We try to do fun stuff on the weekends since Mike & I both work and there isn't much time to do anything during the week but have dinner, baths, and bed time. This weekend we might see Brave and we're talking about taking a day trip somewhere to ride trains. You are going to the next update!
And I'm sure those 2 hours barely felt like 20 minutes.
Honestly Kelly, it did. We ended up along with LC for lunch, France for a slushie, a jog to Japan for pick a pearl, and then to China for a cantaloopy...that is the only things we did at Epcot the entire trip of 8 days.
I know it sounds crazy, but we had a great vacation anyhow!

Thanks - now I have Jack and Diane by John Cougar in my head. (we don't have Tasty Freeze near me - do they really sell chillydogs?

He has been gone for 10 days but got a call from him about 30 minutes ago and he is home now - well at Grandmoms so as soon as 5 O'clock rolls around I'm outta here. Can't wait to give him a big hug. Plus I got my tooth fixed today but the dentist thinks I may have more problems as I age and recommend me seeing an
Orthodontist to correct my bite.
Thanks - now I have Jack and Diane by John Cougar in my head. (we don't have Tasty Freeze near me - do they really sell chillydogs?
Yes Now I have that song running through my head too!
Glad to hear that Evan's back home - I couldn't imagine having my kiddos away for that length of time (though on a different day...)
back to the trip report
Yep - our slide used to be attached to a swing, but kiddo #1 quickly took care of that. I'm surprised the slide has survived their abuse.
Our pool isn't all that large - it's enough for us to be able to cool off, and for the boys to swim in it. Thanks to our warm summer, they've been swimming every day. Our "heat relief" lasted only 1 day - we're back in the 90's for the remainder of the week. I'll take it - it's much better than the triple digits we had over the weekend!

Just catching up again! So glad you're having a great trip. The boys look so cute after their haircuts (not that they weren't cute before the haircuts). Glad you got to enjoy some time with Shelley and Stephanie!
