Saving the Magic (with Cam and Luke plus Morgan) COMPLETED - Page 75 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! DD & I really wanted to ride the riverboat as we haven't done that in awhile. Unfortunately, every time we tried to queue up, there was a reason why we couldn't go, including all that rain. I'm glad you all got to go!
We have never been to the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon so we may have to give it a try in October.
Morgan is so funny! I love the pictures of her in the stock. She looks like she is having such a good time.
The Hall of Preisdents is one of my favorites. It always amazes me how life like all the presidents look so real.
Great pictures as usual.
Hopefully, Diamond Horeshoe Saloon will be open in October. It's not usually open in June. Morgan was truly amazed that the presidents were not real.

Luke was really excited himself when he saw how good his castle shots turned out.

Just curious...what kind of camera do you guys have?
We have a Sony a100, the older model. The newer ones have any more cool features.

But honestly, how rude to step on someone's foot and not even apology! We have never done the Hall of Presidents because the girls were too young to understand fully and enjoy it. I will have to try it now that they have studied the Presidents.
Can't wait for more!
Morgan was fascinated by how much of the Hall of Presidents she had learned in school.

I have never seen the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon open we might have to check that out next week.
I hope it is open when you all are there as the BBQ was delicious.
Fantastic pictures. I have a felling Morgan will be the tour guide next year. Showing her brother everything
I think you are so right!

I'm still amazed at the "Hall of Presidents". We have to see it on every trip.. Sorry you had to deal with all the rain, but "when in Disney, put on the poncho, and go with the flow"!!!!
We actually found that some degree the rain cleared out the crowds who weren't crazy enough to splash through the puddles like us.

I really do enjoy photography.

Sounds like you managed to get a lot done despite the yucky rain.
I was too busy with camera to get my Hidden Mickey app open to check. Maybe that will be something to do next summer.

The views of the queue at Swiss Family Treehouse made me think of going on this attraction when I was a kid, and MK was Disney World. It was just one long line throughout the entire attraction.
I agree with Luke that after the stretching room at HM it's like herding cattle. It really is an accident waiting to happen - Crunching all those people into such a small area in the DARK!
The first time I visited MK it was all that made up WDW and that line for the Swiss Family was so long and snaked slowly up the tree, but I loved it then and love it now.

I love that kid!!! American Adventure is one my favorites!!!
American Adventure is one of my favorites, too. It took me something like 5 trips before I could get Stefanie and Luke inside, but then it was a repeat every year.

I also love that Morgan liked the Hall of Presidents. My kids liked it the first time, but have no interest in doing it again. I'm fascinated by how realistic the animatronics are in that.
If you don't mind, what kind of camera do you use? I am really thinking of getting a DSLR and I love your pictures.
My camera an older Sony alpha 100. Luke bought it for me a number of Halloweens back. Only Halloween present I've ever gottten. It was on sale at Best Buy and he basically got the second lens and memory card free. He felt that our little digital camera wasn't making the best pictures for all my scrapbooking. He is so sweet!

Sorry for all the rain, but it looks like ya'll are still having a good time!!
What a great time at the Magic Kingdom. We haven't been to the Swiss Family Treehouse for years - perhaps we'll have to go back in December. I'd forgotten how much there is to see there.
I had too as it had been six years since our last climb up. The views are great, too.

Can't wait to hear what happens next!
Glad your got your family in to HoP.

The climb is rewarding, but it is definitely a climb.

Glad you didn't let the rain stop you guys! We had the same attitude - put on the ponchos, use an umbrella and "keep swimming" as the boys chanted each afternoon.
This was the first time I took pictures in the tree house and they made a really good scrapbook spread.

And speaking of details, I had never noticed all the Mickeys on the horses' tack before. Just one more thing that makes me Disney so much!
At least one climb up the tree house is worth it.

She was totally excited all the time. She didn't slow down until she hit the bed.

He must have paid attention in daycare when they did a lesson on President's day.
Stefanie was fascinated by presidents, so that made this one a favorite.

Morgan's face on EE is hilarious and yes, she did like a pro on the third ride!! Heather's poses are just too funny.
TH is one of our absolute favorites! Never had a bad meal there.
Too bad about Morgan needing another poncho!
My kids love the tree house. There are so many details it usually takes awhile to go up and down the stairs.
What??? No pie smell during Philharmagic???? That's NOT magic!!
for catching up!

We hadn't been on the riverboat in a long time either. It was a most relaxing ride.

Love the pictures of the Treehouse! I haven't been in there since I was a little girl! I'll be making a visit on my next trip for sure!! Sounds like you had a wonderful time at MK, even with the rain!!
The tree house was one of my favorite attractions on my first visit to MK in 1980.

We went when we first got to the park or the rain might have kept us away, too.
In all my years of going to Disney I have never stepped foot in the Swiss Family Tree House, so thank you for all of the pictures!
I'm glad that the rain really didn't put a damper on your fun, and it's so exciting to hear about Morgan's reactions to things she is doing for the first time!
Your pictures are wonderful. I borrowed a few to email my 8 yr old nephew. Our Sept trip is his first trip to the world. He just told me he wanted to do the tree house. He saw it on TV. We haven't done the tree in years.

Add me to the list of ones who have not done the treehouse! I don't know why because that was my all-time favorite book growing up! I so badly wanted to be deserted on an island and live in a tree house just like the Robinsons!!
The last few times we've had little ones not old enough to climb, but this Oct will just be me and Dave, so guess what we are doing!
I love the excitement and happiness in Morgan's face! She looks like she's having a fantastic time with Aunt Cam and Uncle Luke! Sorry for the weather, but you seem to be doing ok despite it!
Really enjoying your TR, Cam. We have not done the Treehouse in years, mostly because my bad left knee makes going up stairs difficult, but I may just have to grin and bear it on our next trip Morgan seems to be having such a good time & it is fun to see everything through her eyes!

I hadn't thought when I was taking all those pictures that they would help folks experience it whoever never made the climb.

That's what I forgot to do this past trip, the treehouse. Listing it as a to do for our next trip. As always Cam, your photos came out really nice. Can't wait for more.
