Star Wars Weekends: Episode IV - New Hope(s) May/June 2012 - Page 74 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great pics! That "slip and slide" looks like so much fun I would have gone on it for sure!

Dylan is sure enjoying the 4-wheeler.
I like the close-ups of the boys having their drinks.

I am glad they loved the Tiki Room. It is one my favorites!!
Great lunch with Pooh and friends!!
Looking forward to more!
So neat that we have the same sandals. They are proving to be very comfy. I wore them yesterday afternoon for a bit again and no problems whatsoever!

You should try both some time! CP is really pretty inside and Tiki birds was fun.
Friday nght was nothing too special - watched a few movies. Little Mermaid was one and I think Snow White too. Finally some princess movies!
Saturday Mike's parents watched the boys in the afternoon so Mike & I could go to the movies. We saw Spiderman in one of the newer theaters that have recliners and waitresses - that bring you margaritas! I never want to see a movie without these again. It was awesome! The theater only seats like 35 people and it's 21 & over. I think Mike & I were the youngest in there. [I think we may take the boys to see Brave this weekend and I'll be missing this theater experience, but that's ok.] Then we took a trip to Toys R Us to browse for birthday/Christmas ideas without the boys. I see lots of sporting equipment in their future.
Sunday we went to church (finally - we've been slacking for a month now although a 3 of the 5 weeks we missed were due to being out of town and the one day I woke up with the rash). Then I got out our little pool for the backyard and put the slide in it and the boys had an absolute blast! Then they decided mommy needed to get wet too and started dumping buckets of water on me. Good thing I'd put my suit on! Oh! And while it was still hot (98 degrees) we finally broke the 10 day of 100+ degree weather streak.
After that we decided to go get some ice cream (really frozen custard) at Ted Drewe's which is a big attraction in St. Louis. The boys each got a baseball hat sundae. They both had vanilla custard (have to in the baseball hat) and chocolate sauce but Dylan had strawberried & Lukas had M&Ms. I had the marshmallow sundae and Mike had mint & macadamia nuts with chocolate sauce. Mike's parents met us there too.
Sorry for all the 'extras' in the TR. I hope you all enjoy our adventures and pictures.
After haircuts we decided it was time for a break and headed back to AKL. Lukas fell asleep on the way so he took a nap while Mike & Dylan headed down to the pool around 3:30pm.
Can you see the hidden Dylan & Mike?
There they are!
Once they were done with the pool the boys took a bath before we headed out to Epcot. Nap time for Lukas, pool time for Dylan and then a bath would pretty much become the routine. Dylan was always chilly once back from the pool so a warm bath helped warm him up and get him clean. I had bought some capsules that turned into dinosaurs in warm water and what a hit they were! I found some more recently that will be coming with us on the next trip – space saver bath toys – gotta love it!
We were on a bus just before 6pm headed for Epcot.
We stayed in Future World tonight. First up was Figment at 6:15pm. Love that purple dinosaur!
Next we crossed over to go find Nemo at 7pm. Then the boys played in the area where Bruce and the other sharks are for a bit.
It's hard to get a good picture on here since it's so dark and you can't use flash.
There were divers in the tank!
Some guy had to help Dylan climb up into Bruce's mouth. I had no idea that it was such a steep climb back there.
Monkey see, monkey do
We were a bit hungry (well some of us were) so we headed to Sunshine Seasons for some dinner. Mike has sweet & sour chicken, Dylan had a Mickey bar (this is what he asked for and since it was vacation I was fine with it), I had the pork chop with mashed potatoes and Lukas shared (mainly eating only rice & potatoes). I wasn’t feeling too well at this point so we decided a few easy rides and then we’d head back. And don’t worry it wasn’t anything major (female issues) and I was back to normal the next day.
!!!!
We did Living with the Land next at 8pm since it was right there. This is one of Mike’s favorite rides.
And on the way out at 8:30pm we hit SSE.
SSE didn't like the Pluto hat.
We were headed to the bus stop just before Illuminations started. Then we were home, I took a shower and then hit the sack.
OMG, the boys and the haircuts had me all teary.........what on eath am I going to be like with my own in Sept.
CP sure looks pretty inside. I haven't been in there since I was about 7 or 8, crazy!
I love your 4th of July pics and the life size slip-n-slide looks like a big hit!!!!
So dino bath toys......uhm do tell. The sound like a great idea!!
I just love goinf back to the parks at night for a bit after a dip in the pool and shower. That has to be my favorite time of day at Disney!!!
I am pretty sure I have seen a little matchy ,atchy going on in your pics this day......blues in the day, green's by night. You know I likey!!!!!
Nice afternoon back at the resort, and then a nice and easy time at Epcot. I love the photos of Lukas on the bus! SE definitely seems to have improved how your head gets saved for the ending montage. It captures the hair now, which really helps -- unless you're wearing a Pluto hat, I guess! You, Mike and Lukas came out great.

You're going to be a mess! I've seen that boys hair and he's going to look like a new little man. Ok, I'm getting teary just thinking about it! I will say I am the one that video taped Dylan's and it helped distract me (some).
So the dino bath toys were really a capsule that said to place in a cup of warm water and then the plastic case melts away and you have a mini dino sponge. Kind of like these: http://www.amazon.com/Magic-grow-ass.../dp/B000T9MQZE I found the latest set at the grocery store of all places.
I'm glad you noticed the matchy matchy because I did in fact have a theme/color scheme each day. I knew you'd love it too.

I noticed in Sharon's TR that it didn't cut her head off, but it still needs work with a Pluto hat.
Okay, lots to comment on...
LOVE the Tiki Room. We don't do it every trip, but it brings me right back to my very first trip at 4 yo with my grandparents.
I also loved Dylan's pouty face. Two reasons...it's cute...and it's nice to know we're not the only ones who have those who might not want to cooperate all the time
The haircuts are adorable!!! I usually get the boys cut before we go, but maybe I'll wait and have Jason's done there. Tyler's just too cool now.
The 4th looked like a lot of fun, and that slip&slide is awesome!!
Gotta love Lukas's ice cream hat!
Love Mike's shirt. I wanted to get that for Craig but couldn't find it at Target.
And I get those capsules at the dollar store all the time. I use them for inside Easter eggs too!
Sounds like a fun afternoon/evening. The boys really looks like they are having a blast on this trip. What kid wouldn't at WDW?
We have a theater like the one you described - drinks and a movie is a wonderful thing. We've only been once since it opened, but I'm looking forward to going back. You know when I can actually have a margarita again.
Ugh...all caught up again...finally!!! I hate when I get busy and can't get on here like I want too. Anyway, the boys look soooooo extra adorable after their haircuts. Lukas looks like a little cherub! And I love the little PPer meet at CP. You looked like you had some great character interaction going on, and I think Eeyore was looking at Dylan's haircut and thinking that it was getting a bit too long. Seems like you all were on the same page with that one.
looks like a nice weekend and glad the heat is finally backing off. We got a little break too as it is only in the upper 80's today so first day in 11 it isn't going into the 90's. It was 102 on Saturday.
I had a nice weekend but chipped a tooth on Saturday and can't get it fixed til Tues. Thankfully it isn't really sore - just weird I guess. Also could get my car to start. Had it towed to the shop and it need a new key cyclinder as the key wouldn't turn. Its all fixed now. More of a pain than anything else.
Evan come home tomorrow - Jeez I miss that little boy so much.
