10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 73 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your dinner looked delicious. I love all your photo’s of the views, especially the sunsets.
It was quite a photo heavy post but so much to capture at the restaurant! I enjoyed my dinner so much and overall experience!

Quite a relaxing meal and glad I was able to spend some time on the deck taking in the views of the MK and WDW! Love the vantage point from the 15th floor! Lot of photos from the deck as so much to see.

Wow, that sounds like a wonderful dining experience. The sorbet sounded very interesting - not what I expected at all!
It certainly was as I know how much you and Mark enjoy dining here. A must for me on every WDW trip and I don't see it ending! I enjoyed the sorbet and was a bit apprehensive about it but the tequila combined well with it. I remember in Italy having lemon sorbet with a bit of vodka in it. That worked well too and I'm not exactly a vodka fan unless it's a Bloody Mary which I love!

One of my best ever experiences at the Cali with such a great and relaxing meal! I enjoyed my meal as well as spending time out on the deck to enjoy the views and get plenty of photos. My server Chris didn't have a problem with this and never rushed me. He was great in every way as not always the case with some servers in WDW!

Your meal looks wonderful. We've not had luck with our meals there. The first time I blame it on the fact there were 12 of us, but the last time we about died of neglect there were only the two of us.
One of these days I will try again...everyone raves about it and it sounds as if your experience bears that out!
What a fabulous meal, and great pictures from the outside deck!

Just a great meal overall and going out on the deck to enjoy the great views made my meal even more special! A good part of the reason I come here every WDW trip!

Sorry, to hear your experiences haven't been great at the Cali as I think all of mine have been very good! Seems like your server wasn't doing their job and not attending to the two of you enough. I hate it when that happens and especially at a very good eatery! I hope you try again and have a memorable meal!

Glad you enjoyed your meal and service so much at the California Grill! We haven't been back in years as the last time we were there, the meal and service wasn't too good. Just from seeing your pictures, I'm not a big fan of the refurb as it seems they don't have as many table for two's next to the windows overlooking the Magic Kingdom area which was a big draw for us to go up there to enjoy the view while dining. It's nice that they didn't rush you and allowed you to enjoy the balcony views in between your courses. Your pictures were beautiful from up there!

I enjoy the new modern look of the Cali as it's much brighter in there now. I love the bar and the wine racks behind the bar. They should definitely have more tables for two but I guess they want the larger tables by the window. I had a great and enjoyable meal and glad I could take my time and spend some time on the deck with some nice views and photos! I've always had good experiences here that have been nothing less than stellar!

Wednesday, October 11th (Part V) I took the express elevator back down to the 2nd floor near the check in area for the California Grill. I then took an escalator or elevator up to the 4th floor as I wanted to take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom.
When I got to the monorail area there was no one there except for one CM. I had mentioned to her it must not be too busy tonight and she said there aren’t as many taking the monorail as usual. It surprised me even more as there are EMHs in the Magic Kingdom tonight. In a few minutes, some more guests showed up but not that many.
Shortly, a monorail showed up. I would be taking the long route around to the Magic Kingdom to the TTC, Polynesian and Grand Floridian before my destination.
Once, the monorail came to a complete stop and the guests disembarked I made my way to a car. Being first in line, I had my choice of cars. My car would be a welcome sight and would remain that way all the way to the MK.
I loved having the car all to myself, even though it was a short trip!
Once, I arrived at the Magic Kingdom, I disembarked down the ramp near the entrance to the park.
Resort boat at MK
I got screened for security as it’s quite rare they let anyone through without going through the procedure. It was about 8:10 pm currently and I was looking forward to EMHs in the Magic Kingdom and hitting several attractions. Here’s what greeted me when I got in line to scan my MagicBand!
YIKES!!!
What a scene in the Magic Kingdom and this is even worse than before! Seems like every resort guest is here tonight. I hope the wait times aren’t too bad tonight, but I have a feeling they’re going to be. Well, at least I have one more FP+ I can use and will be shortly.
Once, I had scanned my MagicBand and I was through the gates, I headed towards Main Street USA. It was quite crowded and it wasn’t easy navigating through the crowds in this part of the park.
Not a down night in the Magic Kingdom!
Once, I arrived at the end of Main Street USA, I took a left past Casey’s and over to Frontierland. There were lots of guests lined up at the end of Main Street and in the hub area securing their locations for the Happily Ever After fireworks show, which commences at 9 pm. I think I may have arrived in the MK a bit earlier than I stated as the show is at 9pm.
In just a few minutes I arrived in Frontierland and headed towards Big Mountain Thunder Railroad for my final FP+ for the evening. The FP+ line was all the way outside the building, which wasn’t encouraging and hope I would complete my ride before the fireworks. It moved rather well and I think everyone else was trying to get this FP+ in before the show like myself. The standby line was 70 minutes which is long for EMHs, even though it hasn’t officially begun yet.
The line moved along well and at close to 8:30 pm I was in my car for another enjoyable ride. It is even better at night than during the day with all the lights and effects in the Magic Kingdom at night!
This ride always goes so fast as it’s so much fun and one of my favorite WDW attractions. It lasts about four minutes but it doesn’t seem that long. Once, I disembarked my car I exited the attraction building and to seek a good location for the Happily Ever Fireworks show. In the hub area near the castle and Main Street USA and close to there were out for me as they were already quite crowded even before I got to Frontierland. I decided to pick a location close by with an open view of the castle, even though a bit far away and not the prime area for the show. We shall see!
NEXT: Will I Have a Happily Ever After Experience?

Geesh, I thought with an empty monorail car you’d have a quiet night at MK! Obviously not! Glad you were able to make it thru the long FP line relatively quickly!
