As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: A Gargantuan Gathering of Passporter Peoples . . . PRE-TRIP -- COMPLETE!!!!
I love your pre-trip report Sarah! You've put some major planning into your trip. The shirts are adorable. I just bought matching pink Minnie Mouse sweatshirts for my DD and I for this upcoming trip at the Disney Store on clearance for $9.99 each. It was such a great buy I couldn't pass it up! I love the mousekeeping envelopes too! I just might have to copy your idea. Hope you don't mind! I'm looking forward to meeting you at the MVMCP PPMeet!

Re: A Gargantuan Gathering of Passporter Peoples . . . DAY 1!!!! (updated 12/9)
[b]PassPorterpalooza!!!!! Day 1 . . . November 29th . . . “The Trip” . . .
“The Smelly Car” . . . er . . . ROOM
I would first like to say, before I start any of my trip report, that I am really glad we were able to make this trip. We met SO many wonderful people down there and I feel truly blessed to be able to call some of them friends and to have met all the others!
ON WITH THE SHOW . . . er . . . TRIP!!!
We had a fairly normal day, starting out . . . well, normal for everyone but me, I guess. Mike got up around 4:45am and headed to work at 5:30, like normal. Emilie and I got up at 7am and I took her to school . . . like normal . . . then I came home and plopped the suitcase and a couple of duffle bags on the couch! Since I had been doing the laundry and separating what we were taking with us into a basket, the packing was fairly easy. We ended up with a big suitcase full of my clothes and the “Disney” stuff, a duffle bag for Mike, Emilie’s Princess duffle and an overnight bag for our one night off-site. For me, that was pretty good, because I am a notorious over-packer!
ANYHOO . . . I packed all that I could and then stashed all of the bags in the closet (VERY tight fit), then headed to pick Emilie up from school at 11am. She was eating her lunch when Mike got home from work . . . then she headed off to take a nap while Mike and I pulled the bags out and put the last minute items in them and packed the car. I can’t believe how easy the packing ended up being . . . even after we had put everything in the car and Emilie was getting in (looking in the back of the car) she didn’t get it!
We hadn’t really talked about what we were going to tell Emilie to get her in the car and get her mind off of the fact that we were going to be in there for 7 hours or so. So, we told her we were going on a treasure hunt. Specifically, we’d be looking for “boats, trees, BIG buildings, buses and animals”. She was all for it . . . so far so good!!!
We drove out of the complex just before 2pm and by 2:05pm, we were on I-10 headed eastbound! About 30 minutes into our drive, we passed by 2 plain, white, unmarked buses. They were really familiar looking . . . and for good reason! I turned around and looked at the marquis across the top of the front of the bus . . . and one said "MICKEY MOUSE" and the other said “TRANS/TKT CTR” I looked at Mike and said “AWESOME! Follow me boys!!!”
About an hour or so later, we stopped at a rest area and it was kind of cool out and my toes were freezing . . . well, no wonder, I was wearing my Birks! WAIT A MINUTE . . . I was wearing my Birks, which I meant to change OUT of and put my sneakers on BEFORE we left the house! Which meant my sneakers were still sitting on the dining room floor!!! I had only packed my flip-flops and my boots (for the night we were going to Pleasure Island) . . . I HAVE to have my sneakers when I am walking distances! I am officially a dumba$$ . . . I mean, I forgot to pack my SHOES!!! What a DORK!!!
ANYWAYS . . . Mike kept on driving, I kept on changing the station on the satellite radio (we have, like 125 channels . . . why should I stay on just ONE?!) and Emilie kept on pointing out "treasure hunt things” and eating cookies (MAN, was she ever hopped up on sugar ) . . .
. . . right at 4pm central time, we passed over the time zone change line thingy, so we figured out how to change the time on the clock in the car again (we seem to forget every time how to do it ) . . . just before 7pm (eastern), we stopped in Live Oak, FL and gassed up the car and drove thru Krystal for dinner. Their burgers are small like White Castle’s . . . and Emilie ate THREE (and asked for another, but we didn’t have any more) I thought I was a piggy by eating 4 of my own! We only stopped for a total of about 15 minutes then we were back on the road. There really wasn’t a lot of traffic on I-75, which was weird because EVERY TIME we have EVER come down 75, it’s like the Indy 500 and PACKED! We ran into a little rain, but it wasn’t too bad and, in true FL style, didn’t last long!
Emilie was still clueless, although, she did think that we were heading home after our dinner stop . . . we hit the FL Turnpike and she STILL had no idea . . . but as we neared the point where the turnpike meets with I-4 she started to make comments about things she was seeing along the way . . .
“Hey mom, I thought I just saw a sign that said Epcot.” . . . “Hey mom, I saw a Universal Studios Spiderman poster.” . . . “Hey mom . . . where are we?“
I just kind of shrugged it off . . . “Huh . . . that’s weird. Wonder why they have Epcot signs way out here.”
We hit I-4 in no time, of course there were even MORE signs for the parks . . . I looked in the backseat as we approached a Mickey’s Philharmagic billboard and . . .
“DID YOU SEE WHAT THAT SAID?! I know where I am!!! Why are we at Disney World? WHY didn’t you tell me?”
She proceeded to chatter on like a monkey in a tree about what we should do on our trip for the next 2 hours until I finally convinced her she needed to go to sleep!
We checked into the Days Inn Maingate East just after 9:30pm. We were in room 1115 in building B. You know, this place wasn’t that terrific, but I wasn’t expecting much for $38 (+ tax) . . . the room stunk like mildew, the carpet felt wet even with socks on . . . I sprayed my Bath and Body Works body spray around the room A LOT and even THAT didn’t help! BUT, the air conditioning worked like a charm and it was a roof over our heads for the night! When we opened the toiletry bag, we realized that Mike didn’t pack his toothbrush OR Emilie’s toothbrush and toothpaste!!! Looks like I wasn’t the only dummy . . . and I guess we’ll be making a run to Target or Wal-Mart in the morning!
So, Emilie had a bath, we watched King of Queens and the Top 7 Must-Sees at WDW (twice) , had some ice cream and it was lights out just before midnight!!!
Stinky room or no shoes or not, I was at WDW . . . and I was a happy girl!!!
COMING UP NEXT: “Sweet fancy Moses!”
