As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: 2 Dental Diva’s and family go to WDW
A day at Disney/MGM Studios, Shopping at DTD and hoping that the Osboroune Lights are lit a day early
Ahh what a great nights sleep. I do miss my pillow from home, It’s a king size that I hug and these small pillows aren’t cutting it. Everyone got up and again Jim went down to the food area to get some grub. This time he brought back some delicious chocolate croissants I think we got to the bus stop by 8:30 and again had the luck of the bus we needed to drive right up.
I was a little worried about crowd attendance today as it was Super Soap Weekend. I do like to watch GH but I wouldn’t go out of my way to see any of the stars….or so I thought. We arrived just before 9 and immediately took a picture of the studios Christmas tree. It was cool with the old fashioned Santa’s on it
We queued up for the bag search and then the ticket line which to my surprise was not very large. We got thru the gate and saw a big table set up with free a ABC Soap guide magazine. We grabbed one of them and started to leaf through it to see who would be there. I knew Susan Lucci was going to be there and was happy to see that an old favorite from AMC, Tad, Michael Knight would be at the 1:00 WWTBAM show hosted by Walt Willey. OK now I want to go to that and we make a beeline over to that fast pass table to get 3 for that show. Jim and Jameson were going to leave after lunch and rent a surrey bike again.
The super soap stage
While Pam and I got the fast passes Jim and Siobhan went to ride RNR. They got to ride it twice in a row! I guess all the soap fans don’t want to ride the rides because we found that to be the case the whole day. Jim and Siobhan made it just in time to see Jameson meet Jo-Jo and Goliath. He was so happy to meet them! Then we got in line to meet Donald.
Jameson didn't want his pictute taken with Buzz or Woody so Siobhan and I did.
A lot of the area by the Backstage tour was taken up by autograph stations. Actually a lot of the park were taking up by them. That is where the crowds were at every station to get autograph instead of the rides.
I saw some people in yellow shirts handing out signed pictures of the actors so that is when I became a fan and wanted to get as many from GH as I could. The yellow shirt people were everywhere! They must have a hundred yellow shirt people working that in addition to the regular CM’s. So far I had (in their GH names) Jason, Sam, Dillon. We heard a bunch of wild screaming starting to filter through the crowd and saw an actor come out. I don’t know who he was but he is on OLTL.
We walked over to the SLM show and Jameson was getting nervous/excited. He wanted to make sure that there were no dark parts and we showed him it was all outside. Now this kid is a car freak He loves all cars and I knew he would love this show. We bought some cotton candy and water by the show entrance and looked at the cars looking for a Herbie. The only one we could find was a medium size one that was a kit. Nope we needed a matchbox type car and couldn’t find one!
Right by that kiosk was the actor who was plays Jason and I saw him. I snapped off one shot and got a little of him while Siobhan went by the bushes like the paparazzi and took video of him. He is just a cute in person as he is on the show! He seemed so nice and really talked to everyone that came for an autograph which is a totally opposite of one actor we saw which I will tell you about later!
That's "Jason" all the way to the left
So we walk over to the seating area and get wowed by how big it is. It’s HUGE! I can’t get over how nice the “stage” area is and can’t wait for it to start! On the big movie screen the showed an image of a guy on fire and Jameson was so worried about him. I totally forget how jaded I am when I see a guy on fire and that doesn’t even faze me! I told Jameson he was ok and he said “ He should stop, drop and roll!!” Can you tell they just had fire safety at school!?!?!
The show was amazing and I don’t want to give away any of the tricks as they are fun and shocked me! I managed to take a few pictures of Herbie for Jameson but was too busy watching the show to take any others. Jameson loved it and can’t wait to go back in February to show his cousin Noel!
Jim and Siobhan had a fast pass for RNR and went off to use it while Pam and I shopped. All the shows were on a different schedule (because of SS weekend) so when we went to see Playhouse Disney the shows on the map were different from the ones posted at the entrance to the show.
We meet up Jim and Siobhan, who were now sporting hoarse voices due to all the screaming, and walked over to 50’s prime time for lunch. Susan Lucci was stationed there for her autographs at a very fancy tent, while the other low life actors just had an umbrella. The crowd around her was huge and her hubby was handing our the pictures of her. We sent Siobhan up to get 3, one for me, one for Pam and one for DS Kathy. Siobhan was so funny she marched right up and stuck her hand right up in the air and got them. Mr. Lucci was handed them out soooo slow, licking his fingers for each one and making sure he gave only one out a time. That was causing major problems for one lady who was freaking out when someone pushed her to get one and screamed “ J***** C***** calm down” and said some other things I can’t repeat here. She should have taken her own advice! Since Jim was the tallest we gave him the camera and had him take some video for Kathy. We left that mad house and checked in for our lunch at the 50’s Prime Time.
Lunch and an afternoon of shopping

Re: 2 Dental Diva’s and family go to WDW
Lunch at the 50’s and an afternoon of shopping
After braving the crowds around La Lucci we made inside and we seated right away. I hadn’t been back to the prime time in about 3 years and it was good to be back. We had a great waitress who didn’t really give us a hard time even though we tried to be bad but I think she was just too nice to be “mean” to us! We all ordered and decided to get dessert as a treat. I had the chicken pot pie (which was yummo) and Jim had the fried chicken. I can’t remember what the girls or Jameson had but I know we all had a clean plate club. Dessert was a gigantic brownie sundae with about a can of whip cream on top! We managed to inhale it very quickly! Jim said he was going to go back to the hotel with Jameson while the girls and I went to DTD to do some shopping. Pam wanted to go to the guitar store to buy her son Rory a Fender guitar t-shirt and I wanted to get my bath bombs from Basin.
We said goodbye to the guys and we took the boat over to the Swan to catch the bus to DTD. We had a loooong wait for it and passed the time by playing the alphabet game and had to name bands with every letter of the alphabet. I won with my immense knowledge of 80’s bands and kick their butts! Once in DTD we got off at PI and walked over to Basin and got my bath bombs. I love the lavender ones!!!! We looked at all the sidewalk art as it was the Festival of the Arts weekend. This was crowded but was neat to look at. It was really no different than a craft fair as there we lots of booths and artist selling their goods.
We got over to the West Side with one thing in mind, a t-shirt for Rory. Well guess what? The store that we were going to was gone! It was being replaced by a high end art store! Great now what does Pam get Rory. That is all he wanted. So we went over to Virgin Megastore and finally found (after 20 minutes) a Fender t-shirt. We saw a ton of Hurley shirts but Rory and Siobhan have a ton of those as their last name is Hurley and everyone gets one for them. I was feeling really bad about leaving Jameson with Jim for the afternoon again so I called him and said to meet my at MGM, and to bring my sweatshirt. I said goodbye to the girls and we were to meet at 6 at MGM.
I walked over to the PI bus stop and decided to take the next bus to any resort and just switch there. Well as luck would have it Boardwalk came up and I hopped on that. One quick ride later I was walking over to the boat ramp for my ride back to MGM. Jim called me and said he was at the park and said he would wait for me at the boat ramp. God do those boats just putt along! I wanted to go up and gun it but I guess I would be writing this from jail not from home if I did that!
I finally pulled up and ran up the plank to meet Jameson. By now I was freezing and so glad Jim remembered my sweatshirt! We walked around the park and got some grub at Rosie’s all American Café. We ate and shopped while waiting for Pam and Siobhan. We went and saw Playhouse Disney which Jameson loved. It was cute and I kept some of the streamers that fell down on us for the scrapbook.
We meet the girls at the Staring Rolls Bakery. We were hoping that maybe just maybe they would have on the Osbourne lights a day early. Nope not gonna happen! Totally bummed we walked back by Star Wars and the 3 girls went one while Jameson and Jim stayed outside. While waiting for us Jameson got totally freaked out by the Ewok sounds coming from their tree house and begged to move away from it!! We got out of the ride and got to see the end of the big soap star parade. Some kids were cracking us up because every car that went by had the name of the star on it and they would hoot and holler at them saying “YEAHHHHH (insert soap star name) you are awesome!! WOOOOOO we love you!!!” every time they would do it. It was so funny! After that it was time to head over to PI and meet TinkerBelz. The girls and I went and waited but I guess we missed them. We saw one show at CW and said goodbye to our beloved place for this trip. WAAAAA! Once home we said goodnight and crawled into bed. Tomorrow is our last day in the world!
Our last day in the world
Our last day we awoke early and packed our bags. We aren’t leaving the property until 4:30 this afternoon so we left our bags with bell services. There was a bit of a mix up as I thought we could just leave the bags in the room and bell services would come in and get them, just like they do at POP. Well I guess I was wrong, Jim doubled checked and sure enough we had to wait with them. Jim said to go on and he would meet us at the Magic Kingdom.
Jim only waited a few minutes and was able to take the bus over with us. It was a beautiful day and we had an awesome morning in the park. Lunch was had at Peco’s Bills. Jim hates the smell of the place ( I don’t smell anything) but loves the fixins bar. We split up for awhile and the boys and I did some shopping on Main Street. I for the life of me could not find one of those huge bags that they sell to haul your stuff around in. I really needed it for all my carry on stuff!
We meet Pam and Siobhan on the back side of the castle by the sword in the stone. I took some pictures of the “other” side of the castle that you don’t see too often. Sadly it was time to head back to the hotel to meet our town car driver.
Back at Coronado Springs we hung out in the lobby for and Jim and Jameson played some video games. I had to drag them out when our driver came! We got to the airport in no time and even faster through the security. While waiting in the preboard line Jim went to get us some food. Those lines were so long! He was gone at least 45 minutes and we were starting to get worried. Our plane had come and we were about to get on very, very soon. I ran down to the food court and got Jim out of line, he hadn’t even ordered yet! We made back with about 25 seconds to spare!!!! The flight home was good and Jameson did not fall asleep at all. Back in NH the girls got the luggage while Jim went and got the car. Poor Pam still had to drive 45 minutes from my house to hers. I’m sure I was asleep by the time she got home! This was a great trip and I can’t wait to use my AP again!!!!!
