As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Such pretty flowers!!! I forget . . . who was the mystery sender? Or did you figure that out . . . I seem to remember a posting a while back about that . . . I think.

I never did have anyone own up Sarah. I'd still love to know though....

Cheryl - I think your flower sender and my flower sender may be one and the same -- same flower I noticed... the mystery continues, for both of us.
Great updates and photos. So sorry about the bad service at Concourse....

Oh my goodness I do apologise - I didn't realise I didn't include anything about that in my trip report. Joy gave it to me - he's lovely and thank you so much Joy!

I'm sorry you had such horrific service!!! I completely understand what you did as I have to have my food steaming when I get it. I can't eat food that's half warm And how rude.. My big mouth probably would've said something to him about his terrible service!

Re: The AP adventure - THREAD 6 OF 6 - TWO UPDATES 2/24
Hi Cheryl,
Great report. Do you keep a copy of your bill from the restaurants you eat at when in WDW. I keep them for a little while and when I finish figuring out how much I spent on a trip I toss them. I always seem to spend more then I think I will. Anywho, back to what I wanted to say. Your waiters name should be on the copy of the bill. So you can find out what Abed's real name is. I would write Disney about your experience. There were two failers with the service there, Abed's bad service and the manager's not seeing it.

Great update Cheryl! wonderful pictures as always!! I agree that you should call Disney and complain about the service, I probably would have asked to talk to a manager right then.

Re: The AP adventure - THREAD 6 OF 6 - TWO UPDATES 2/24
b]Wednesday 22 December – part three: Breathless takes our breath away! [/b]
We got back to the Beach Club at around 2.15 and went back to the room briefly to ensure we had everything we needed (camera, video camera etc.) for our trip out on Breathless at 3.00. I’m glad we did get the video camera, as it was an amazing experience and one we can live through time and time again thanks to the footage we recorded.
When we got to the marina, we found that Breathless hadn’t been taken out at 2.00 after all, as she was still in her moorings, but our driver got her out as soon as we arrived – before 3.00 as well! It was quite something, watching her be lowed into the water. For those of you who don’t know, Breathless is a wooden mahogany boat, dating from the 1930’s and she is beautiful.
On the way down to the marina
The history of Breathless – I hope you can read it!
Our driver getting Breathless ready for us
We climbed aboard for our ride and we were asked what speed we wanted to go at. I was happy at the speed we were going at then, so I told our driver that and he explained that we could easily get to Epcot and MGM in that time. OK - Even more cool was the fact that we were able to drive around Epcot itself when we got there. I was expecting to get to the International Gateway and have to turn back again, but no, we turned right and entered the main lake by France, then we took a quick spin around the World Showcase lagoon and then back out again through the UK. To me, this was already worth the money Mark had paid for this trip on its own (hey – it’s my birthday present, of course he was paying! )
But better was to come. We went around the Boardwalk ale, again at quite a slow speed, which gave us the chance to take some more photos:
Then it was down to MGM, passing the Boardwalk on the way:
After we made it down there, I decided that maybe we could go a bit faster. The driver (I think his name was Scott, but I’m not sure ) had told us that Breathless could reach speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. I have to be honest here and say that I was shocked by that and thought that perhaps he was exaggerating just a little bit. So the speed got turned up and boy does that boat go! It was the most amazing feeling, especially when we started to hit our own wake.
Speeding up!
I am so pleased that I asked to go faster, as it was out of this world and a feeling I would have never dreamt that I would enjoy so much. We went back to the Boardwalk lake, round there fast and then Mark asked me if I wanted to extend our trip by an extra 10 minutes and I was enjoying myself so much that I said yes straightaway! We went back down to MGM, did some figures of eight and then went back to the Boardwalk lake for more of the same.
We saw the same Friendship about four times while doing this and I think we scared the living daylights out of them each time! I felt like a star though with everyone pointing and looking at us. It was a superb ride and it was worth every cent. Speaking of which, it only ended up costing $53, as Mark was only charged for a 20 minute trip, when in fact we had a 30 minute trip. I can thoroughly recommend this to anyone. It’s a great way to spend 30 minutes and it’s such a buzz. This is now on my list of things we must do when we next return.
Next: right on target and “what was that you said Jan?”

Oh I agree My 30th birthday in March 2003 was the best I've ever had! Sounds like you had an amazing birthday.
Sorry your service at the Concourse was so bad I've eaten there twice and had the same server, Ali and he was good, he kept our drinks topped up constantly. Hopefully next time the service will be better. Look forward to reading about your time on Breathless.
