Major pixies needed please [updated 4/3, post #306] - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm glad Lenny's rehab place is so nice! My sister hated hers....the technicians kept ignoring her, but she fixed that by getting a big jar of candy, even though her jaws were wired shut, and giving it out liberally when they came into her room.
I hope Lenny progresses quickly and is fully healed soon. You poor guys!
Ugh, for the rehab entry, but so glad things have improved for you.
As far as Ohio goes, I remember having to bring in all of my meds for one hospital stay as mentioned above. However, the rest of the time, I have gotten my meds from the hospital. The last time in June of this year, I thought my surgery was outpatient. So did half of the hospital staff. I ended up spending the night and got my meds from the hospital. However, it was unexpected, my DH stayed the night (2 1/2 hours from home) and he did not have his medications. This could have been corrected if I had known I was spending the night (the doctor and half of the hospital staff knew!). No one ever told me!

I was told that most hospitals advise bringing your own medication in the prescription bottles. This is done in part to make sure reporting is accurate and most hospitals will not give outside medication even when you bring it. I had one drug the hospital did not use and it had to go to the pharmacy for verification but then I ended up not needing to take it.
It's a shame you could not have planned for the overnight stay but it is not always known ahead of time, If you husband is stuck without medication again and you go to one of the chains (CVS, Walgreens, etc,) they will usually supply a day or twos pills and can acess your file through their computer.
That's true that the big chain pharmacies will give you a few days of many, not all, medications if you're in a bind.
Sam's Club Pharmacy does this, I know from embarrassing experience once. I ran short unexpectedly while away from home. They said I was close enough to ready for a refill and had one available that they could simply fill the entire prescription for me and did.

Thank you to those asking about Abby. She's doing okay with this. When pushed the other day (because of a look I saw on her face) she did admit she was worried Lenny wouldn't be coming home again but I think that was her subconscience telling her that some people that go to the Rehab/Skilled nursing facilities don't go home again. I told her in a perfect world, everyone at one of them would go home again but it's not a perfect world. Abby wasn't exactly thrilled with going to visit him but I was able Lenny a laptop to use and we got Skype up and running so Abby can visit without having to actually go there. She seems to really enjoy it because last night when I went to visit Lenny, we were on Skype maybe 45 minutes and she was pretty much smiles the whole time.
As for Lenny himself, he's doing well. They're "pushing" him for the PT/OT and making him do it and if his leg is swollen or bothering him, he still at least gets OT. The hospital didn't do OT at all. He is getting stronger and he's able to walk further with the walker than even a week ago and he's settled into there really well. They have all sorts of activities that he's taking part in and he sounds in really good spirits. The way I can tell he's doing well? When this all started, I swear I couldn't go 20 minutes without him calling me for something. Today, he's called me only like 3 times - and that didn't start until something like 5 pm.
I know one of the nurses said something about him receiving home services when they let him go which is fine with me. He had gotten that long ago when he had his hips done but hopefully by the time he comes home, he won't need it for too long. The big hurdle I think will be the stairs to the second floor and I would think if he needs continued PT after the home services, it could be as an outpatient instead of home services - and we have a location a mile from the house that I'm somewhat certain takes our insurance. I'll look into maybe tomorrow just for my own information. So all in all, things are moving along and aren't quite as stressful but it's not all back to normal yet. We have some time before that happpens.
I am just getting caught up on Lenny and everything that is going on with you and your family. I am so sorry that it has been so difficult!
I do hope that Lenny improves every day and that he will soon be able to go home!
That sounds wonderful! I'm glad Abby is taking it so well, and is Skyping regularly with her dad--that should be good for both of them.
Is your bedroom on the second floor? If so, can you make a temporary bed for Lenny on the first floor until he's in better shape? My grandmother spent her last years sleeping in a converted first-floor room when her emphysema got really bad.
Sounds like Lenny is getting excellent therapy at this facility. The fact that they are safely pushing him is quite important, and it seems to be having a great impact both physically and emotionally (if he isn't calling you as often). The more he works and stronger he gets the sooner he will be back home with you and Abby. I am so glad she finally discussed her feelings with you. It is so important not to hold all that in especially for an adolescent. She has shown such maturity through her behavior. I cannot get over how much she has grown these last few years. While I have never Skyped personally it has so many benefits especially for parents and children who are unable to be together daily. Continued Pixies for you all...I am so glad to read such a positive update.
