Boo to the Halloween on the Highs Seas Crew-completed 04/04/2017 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great meal at T-Rex! We've eaten there only a couple of times, as the food doesn't wow me, but the atmosphere is just beautiful. I love the theming in there.
Your meals looked delicious at T-Rex! We visited there when they first opened but didn't eat there. I find those places kind of loud but I know the kids love it because there is so much to look at! Love all the Halloween decorations at Disney that time of year.
I was so happy to look today and find your trip report! I love reading your trip reports. So detailed and all the beautiful pictures. Plus, Claire and my daughter are the same age so it is fun to see her changing through the years.
Your mini golf pictures are so cute. I have never even thought about playing, but now it is on top of my list.
We love T-Rex, too. What a fun restaurant. We love the Coronado resort! And we have always had such great luck with the bus service, too. It seems it was hit and miss for you though.
Looking forward to reading more! Please do not discontinue writing trip reports EVER!
Looks like a good meal at T-Rex. I've never ate there as now too many new eateries to chose from. In the past (as this has been open for perhaps, 7-8 years or more), I thought would be similar to Rainforest and perhaps too many kids with the Dinosaur theming and probably way too noisy! I'm always thinking about the food first and theming is secondary at most!
We are not major foodies so for us this food is fantastic. It is really loud in there though.

We love the food, but we are steak kind of people. If Claire can have a steak she is a happy camper.

It was really good....and filling.
It is really loud in there.
I love the Halloween décor too.

Glad you found it. I am moving slow....each week just seems to be so busy right now.
I am glad we tried out the mini golf. Not something I would do every time, but it was fun for a trip like this.
Yes, buses were hit and miss. But keep in mind buses to and from Disney springs are always so slow and that is mainly where we went.
I still haven't written a report about my Jamaican trip but all those pictures are edited, so I might try to do that yet this year. And then we'll see about the upcoming Universal trip. It will depend on how fast I get those pictures edited.

The family would be arriving soon and we wanted to get ready for the Halloween party as well so off to the bus stop we went. We saw a photopass photographer so I made us stop. I had been planning on buying the 1 day memory maker for tonight anyways, so why not get a few extra pictures.
And then you enter into the shopping district, which is pretty, but I have no use for that kind of shopping at Disney.
The bus directory……..we have to walk all the way down to the other end and around to reach the different bus stop peninsulas…..Unless you are lucky enough to be staying at one of the resorts along that line.
I hadn’t realized Planet Hollywood was being refurbished. I am not sure if it is getting a makeover or what? I have never gone, nor have had the desire to and I haven’t heard very many good food reviews so I just never even tried to make it there.
I still have not seen that movie and really it’s not on my list so it will probably one of those I see when I happen to find it on TV.
Back to CSR we went.
My sister Gail and her family and Aunt Mary and Geoff had landed and were getting ready to make their way over via Magical Express.
Amanda, Laura and Jan were just getting ready to take off, but we would not see them today as they were all staying at the Hyatt at the airport.
Yep, Planet Hollywood has had a makeover and it's now the Planet Hollywood Observatory. We haven't eaten there for many years, and like you, we haven't read good reviews, but we're going to risk it in March....

Great photos from Disney Springs. Love those Christmas decorations!

Some nice looking ornaments! Totally feel you on having one of the farthest bus stops, it can just feel SO far at the end of a day!
I swear they look at where I am staying and then move the bus stop for that resort!

A friend said they now have milkshakes...so it can't be all bad.

When we got back to Coronado we headed to our room and got ready for the Halloween party.
Several months before we had started talking about what we wanted to dress up as. I threw out ideas and Claire didn’t like them. Finally she agreed to be Cruella DeVil and I would be a Dalmatian. Mom was going to be one too. Basically I was wearing all white and putting spots on with tape. I tried this out at home and the spots seemed to stay on forever. Mom was going to be in all black and where white spots (as she has a lot of black clothes). Sounds easy right?
When the wig came Claire started to have doubts as she wasn’t sure she wanted to wear a wig and I told her she had to or no one would know who she was. She agreed to finally and we got her costume together in pieces and I thought it looked great.
We got dressed and mom pinned Claire’s hair up and we put her wig on and she was thoroughly embarrassed but I told her she would be fine as others were going to wear much more than that.
Mom and I put on our spots and they immediately started falling off! UGH! Really? Why did they stick so well at home, but here they fall off with every move I make?
Gail and the rest of the gang had arrived. They were starving and getting something to eat so we ran up to the Pepper Market to say high.
Everyone was excited. The vacation had truly started for all of us now.
We said goodbye to them and headed back to the room to gather up our stuff to head over to the party so that we could enter as close to 4 as possible. Gail was running late but they said they would get dressed and be over as soon as possible.
Mom took another picture of Claire and I before we headed out.
We then headed to the bus stop and had to wait a bit before the bus came. Literally every other park had 2 buses go by before the Magic Kingdom bus came.
We walked through the bag check area and then I am randomly selected to get the extra measures and I have to take off my bag again and anything else and go through the metal detector. I was super annoyed as I had just put my glasses back on and arranged my bag over me, and adjusted my backpack on my back. I told Claire to go with mom but when I got done I realized my mom followed me through even though she didn’t need to. Oh well. I understand the reasons for this, but I wish he could have selected me before I had put everything back on me. And he made it sound like I had just won some magical experience. LOL.
We went in through the party line and soon were in the park. Yippee!!!!
We had a fastpass to get to though. When you have a party ticket you can make up to 3 fastpasses to use between 4 and 7. It is hard to get all 3 to work right, but I was able to. Gail could only get 2 for them. Actually I did it for them if I remember right because she was never getting on to do it, so I did them and told her to make any changes later if she wanted to.
The fastpass line was out the gate, but that typically is because people can’t handle the process of scanning to get through or they try to go in early and argue about it.
We made it in and there was a line, but it moved pretty steadily.
While waiting in line there was a mom with 2 young girls and she could only ride with on child obviously and the one girl was pretty nervous about riding on her own. I started talking to her and told her she could ride with me. She seemed to like that idea. …..and she screamed almost the whole ride…..with glee!

Nice time on 7DMT and great photo! Love the costumes! Looks like the beginnings of a great time for the party!
