A Rustic Spooktacular Trip for Two: A Trip Report - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yes its a REI bag. I LOVE IT!!!! It has a zip out front for money, id's pens, small things. then the very front is a pocket for a cell phone, it has a zip out part for a water bottle which works perfectly. Then one innner compartment. I get a lot in it and its very sturdy! I got it at the REI store.
Hey guys! I never got to update once I got home last night as I now have a horrible cough and temperature. I came home early today and was trying to sleep it off but that got boring LOL. I thought I might update instead since it doesn't really take a lot of energy!
Monday: Animal Kingdom part two October 26th
Once we were done with the safari we decided to check out the new Harambe Market area along with the new store additions and the stores in Africa. I love the stores here and I got the cutest scarf from there this time!
Eric ended up buying wine here and here is a pic of the selection. We really loved this store! We ended up spending about 20 minutes or more looking around.
It was time for our fast pass on Expedition Everest and so we decided to come back to this area to eat once we were done because we wanted to try the new eating areas in Africa.
We had a 5 minute walk over to the ride and quickly were on our way for our first ride on EE this time around...
We love the theming in here!
As always we really enjoy ourselves!!! LOL
It was close to 11am when we were done and we decided we were already hungry...weird but maybe the early dinner the night before I dunno but we thought why not. We got over to harambe Marker early and had a hard time deciding what to get exactly at first but this place quickly started to fill up so we made our decisions...
We ended up going with the grill. I remember the line taking a few minutes, probably because they just opened not sure...but I dont remember the exact name of what we ordered but Eric ordered a beer and a beef flatbread sandwhich with a salad and I ordered the same.
We both thought it was very good! OOP it was 30 dollars for our lunch. He had a beer, i had a water and two of those sandwhiches for those of you wondering.
We really liked this eating area. It had plenty of choices, plenty of seating, a walk up drink bar which was nice, small bites and meals.
We ended up staying here for about 30 minutes eating our lunch and relaxing. Now I have to rant for a minute about something we witnessed while eating here...if I remember it clearly four months later you know it mustve been bad, there was a husband and wife and three kids and grandparents who made a scene for the first 15 minutes we were eating here. The husband and wife argued in line, he was very verbally aggressive and short with her and the children, so much so he ended up just leaving line at one point. Then we got so lucky the chose a table near us and made such a scene they left. It was really awful. Eric and I were amazed that you would be on vacation and talk like that to your spouse in public so much so to cause a scene. Anyway I"m glad they left as I am sure others were too. ")
Once we were done with lunch we decided to the animal trails as we love this park so much for the animals.
We were so lucky that the hippo was swimming by over and over again...
then we headed over to the meerkats which I love!!!!!! They are by far my favorite and they had babies! It was so hard for me to leave, we ended up being here about 15 minutes just watching them interact.
When we were done with the animals we emerged around 1230 and decided it was getting hot and time for a cold beer!
The upgrade of this bar is by far the best improvement. We love sitting here, enjoying the drums or band playing and taking a break.
We decided to slowly make our way back to the Asia area for the Animal trail there....
Once done with this trail we decided for another standby ride of EE which was about 30 minutes if that in wait.
We then walked to the Dino area and walked through the stores, then caught our fast pass for Dinosaur which was a walk on with that fast pass.
Once we were done, we headed over slowly to a bugs life which I always love and this ride too was a walk on. Honestly we waited five minutes maybe.
The lines were not too terrible this time around. By the time we got done there Eric' said his bug bites were bothering him and he wanted to maybe go back to the room to sit and let them cool off and change the bandages. So, we headed to the front of the park, walked through the stores there leisurely, then collected our wine and headed out to a bus. It was about 330pm and knowing we were coming back to this park we didn't feel so rushed to do everything or to stay. Once we got to our bus stop there was already a bus waiting so we hopped right on!
I am going to show you a pic of one of his three bites. They were the worst this first day after he got them...
We redressed it and he took some meds to see if it would help the swelling. We both just relaxed before our early dinner at Portifinos at 520pm.
I sat on the balcolny for a few minutes before it was time to get ready for DTD and our dinner.

What a wonderful time at AK! I'm glad you got to try the new marketplace, it was packed when I was there in January so I didn't stick around to check it out
That you are feeling better soon! The new market at Harambe is one of the things I'm most looking forward to on our May trip. It was still in construction last May.
Yikes!....$30 for lunch with two sandwiches, a beer and water! A bit pricey, but that's Disney! Harambe Market looks great and looking forward to it next time. Love the new rehab to the Sawa Bar! Been there before the change and loved it then, but looks so much better now!

Oh...poor Eric! That spider bite looks so swollen and sore I hope it didn't bother him the entire rest of the trip! Sorry you had to witness that couple fighting as it is always so uncomfortable when you hear things like that. Your lunch looked good and I think that area is a nice addition to the counter service choices. It looks like another beautiful day at Disney!
