I'm going to Disneyland! with 50 teenagers...what? PTR - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Way too early! I expect we'll take a nap at home that afternoon but it's worth it to me to have more spending money in my pocket. Very easy to get reservations which was great.
Flights are a bit pricey than before from your area but not too bad! More than before but good and I'd be happy with that. All seems to be falling into place and glad you got the WOC ressie!

Life has been crazy!! This week is quieter, which allows me some time to post. Week before last we had another trip meeting and the T.A. attended with detailed information which was helpful.
Not much changed Tuesday:
Meeting at the southern most Alaska Airline ticket desk by 7:30AM
Flight leaves at 9:10AM Arrives LAX at 11:40AM, we are supposed to call the bus when we arrive.
Lunch at In - out burger then on to the grammy museum.
Check in at Hotel, while the other 2 chaperones and the Choir teacher is getting everyone settled into rooms, another chaperone and I are making a Costco run for non-refridgerated snacks/breakfast items.
Dinner on Harbor then over to DTD for a couple of hours.
Hotel and bed.
One thing that really threw a wrench into my ride plans was when we found out the Wednesday workshop was from 9:30 AM to 11:45 AM which meant much of the lesser line time in the morning was now gone so I had to rearrange things, and I'm still playing with ride plans a little to see if I can figure out anything with less lines than what I've got. We will have about 1 hour and 20 minutes before meeting the cast member to go backstage.
Anyhoo...
Wednesday morning and Workshop.
Wake students at 7AM get ready and grab quick breakfast (carry with more than likely.)
Supposed to meet by 7:45 AM to walk to DL.
These are the rides I'm considering before the workshop
Space mt. Buzz, BTMR, MTWR, SW, MTC, and RR .
Our T.A. instructions were:
Go to the bridge between Fantasyland and Toontown and wait; students and choir teacher must be there by 9:30AM, anyone not there on time will be left behind. At 9:30AM a cast member would come out of a backstage door, give instructions and then lead the choir backstage to the room they will be working in; the TA said to look all you like - but touch nothing! The workshop is supposed to last about 1 hour and 45 minutes then the students would be led back out to the bridge, coming out about 11:45AM.
I am not going in this time, the choir will be led backstage 3 different times so I will go Thursday, instead I'm going to use part of that time to go get photopass set up. When my group comes out we will get lunch while they tell me all about their workshop.
I think the students are getting a very cool opportunity that few will recognize as such. I know DD will because she is a Disney nut too and this will be something she will never forget.
Plans looking great and just a little bit of tweaking of them now seems the right idea as you're almost there and make this a better trip! Doing what best works for everyone is the way to go!

Meet students at Toon town bridge then head to tomorrowland for ST fast passes.
Lunch at (their choice of) Galatic Grill or Redds Rocket Pizza Port.
Rides after lunch, HM, BTMR, POTC (my favorite!) Meet Mickey, IASW (DD's favorite), then use ST fast pass.
find a spot for Soundsational Parade (never seen)
Try IJA and pick up FP for SM .
Dinner in adventureland with choice of Rancho del Zocalo or The Golden Horshoe.
Use FP for Splash
We should have about an hour here for students choice then we'll find a spot for Paint, then watch the fireworks before heading back to the hotel. I'm sure everyone will be ready for
Yesterday DD & I went shopping. She needed black dress pants and a black shirt for the performance at DL. I also wanted to stop at Hot Topic for Disney lanyards. They are not big and fancy like Disney's but will work for holding a students ticket and at less than half the price at Disney. DD helped me pick so we ended up with, Lilo & Stich (I would not have picked but DD said students really like them) Baymax, Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland, and Toy Story. DD picked her own and the other 5 are for students who I will be chaperoning. I still do not know who but will find our today.
I still need a pair of sunglasses as mine have disappeared, I cannot find them anywhere. After work today, I am stopping at store for a few groceries for DH while we are gone, masking tape, sunglasses and a stop at the bank. Then I'm off to our last chaperone meeting.
Monday we sorted through DD's clothes to figure out what goes in washing, if anything needed mending and if we needed to pick up anything - we did get her a couple of summer type tops. So after I arrive home, make dinner, I need to go through my clothes with the same process.
I was concerned about only having a carry-on suitcase but we packed DD's as a trial run and everything fit without any problems which made me happy.
I really need to sit down and make a list so things will stop rattling around in my head while I'm saying "oh, I need to remember that." Does that happen to any of you? I know if I make a list, the head rattle will stop.
So sweet of you all to get lanyards for all the kids you will be chaperoning. My whole reason for making lists is to stop that "head rattle." In fact, you've reminded me that I need to get busy making some of my usual lists in preparation for our May WDW trip.
Seems like you have the planning down and all seems to be pretty well set now and just "four" short days away. Never been to DL, but plan to eventually being in CT. It's that there is just so much to experience in WDW and never get tired of it and always many new things on each trip....11 so far and number 12 in the Fall!
