Me, Muffin and WDW for Xmas stuff!! PTR - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Or maybe, as lucky as those two have been just lately, they won a night in the Castle Suite and THEN are leaving for DLP.

Anybody want a soda while we wait for the next episode? This round's on me.
Dot, you should write mystery novels!! (And, 'Yes, Mommie Dearest!' I didn't want to hijack your other thread.)
Well, I see, my poll is, so far, 100 percent for one answer!!
Have you guys no faith in my decision making skills?!?!?!!
None at all?????
I will tell you that I really was busy delivering babies for the past few days!! We were so busy that I was called in to help at 4AM on both Thursday and Friday! Friday got a little scary because, at one point, we were full to the brim, could not find another nurse to come in and had three patients coming!! We had to admit patients to the recovery room for C-sections and we put an epidural in in the OR!
However!
All of that being said, the hugely popular choice on my poll is also true! Update to follow soon with our newest 'this is absolutely it!' plans!

You're shocked. Uh-huh, about as shocked as one of those "ladies" is who's starring in a film that a man might hide in the garage. Shocked????

Two rhetorical questions, clearly.

Okay, I'll grant you bene of doubt here. That has a ring of authenticity, and it's unethical for a medical professional to tell fibs.

Those single quotes do suggest a smidgen of self-awareness.
If I should write mysteries, you are a natural to do thrillers. Bestsellers, fer sure! I hear George Clooney is interested in the lead role, Mel Brooks directing.

What will shock me is after this next round of changes is that Tara doesn't completely change them once again!

I am certainly transparent, Dave.
The current final plans!
So! We are completely back to our original dates again! Let me explain:
I did some research and called Muffin from work on Thursday and told him that I was really looking forward to the Food and Wine Festival! I also told him all of the Christmas decorations would not be up during the week that we were going. He then said,"What do you mean?"
I went on to tell him that the MK tree would not be up but there would definitely be some stuff put up while we were there. I told him the Osbourne Lights would be up during the end of our trip, but that the resorts and parks may not be fully decorated. Mind you, this was fine with me! Muffin, on the other hand, really wanted to do the Disney-Christmas experience in all of its glory.
So, he quickly got over the whole El Niño thing and said, "Then why don't we just go back to our original plans?" Believe it or not, I was stunned. I truly thought that we were done with all of the changes to our plans and I honestly just wanted to tell Muffin that we wouldn't get to see everything Christmas.
I certainly didn't intend to change things yet again! However, Muffin was insistent that although the Food and Wine Festival sounded fun, he really was more interested in the Christmas festivities.
I took a deep breath and thought, at this point, who cares?!?!? So, I said sure. He also said that he really wanted to stay at WL. I said sure. I guess I didn't sound that enthusiastic, so he said, "Look, I know you love AKL and I love WL, so why don't we just stay someplace new? We can do the dining plan and have dinner at both so we can see them both decorated for Christmas." Well!
The only two deluxe resorts that we have not stayed at include the Beach Club and the Boardwalk. No offense to anyone who likes it, but the Boardwalk just does not appeal to us. We really did love our stay at the Yacht Club and we looked up some pictures of the Beach Club at Christmas. We loved what we saw and we also liked the Boardwalk decorations. We thought we could stay at the Beach Club and have easy access to the Boardwalk decorations and the Yacht Club decorations.
As you guys already know, I can put a positive spin on just about anywhere in WDW and I honestly don't care where we stay, as long as we go. November or December are both fine with me. I would have loved to go to the Food and Wine Festival, but I am also fine with the Candlelight Processional and the Santas around the world and the MK Christmas tree! These things seem more important to Muffin, so the new changes are all him. ( I am not throwing him under the proverbial bus, but I really would be fine either way!)
I guess he is serious about the dates this time because we just booked our airfare from November 30th through December 13th! So we are back to WDW from November 30th to December 6th and the cruise from December 6th through the 13th.
I will again, of course, call WDW ticketing to see if we can switch MVMCP back, but I am not hopeful. We are going to do the dining plan. We are hoping to do the Candlelight Processional. We are still a tad nervous about the weather, but we feel like it will be worth taking the chance.
I don't blame any of you if you think these are not our final plans, but I am truly done! !! I am again working on our ADRs. I sort of wish that we had kept the Poly concierge, but the dining plan will be fun! Muffin sort of pooh poohed the Poly because he pointed out that we really don't spend much time at the resort. We also will be staying at the GF two times in a row, so it will be pretty cool to stay at an Epcot resort, which we haven't done on a long time!
I'm not sure how we will get to the cruise ship on the 6th, but I am thinking that we will take the sad bus to the airport and then a shuttle to the ship. I am more than sure that we will get there. So that's it. These are our final, final, final plans!! I sure hope we can keep them this time!!
So just to recap:
We are now staying at the Beach Club from November 30th through December 6th!
I am cracking up because this was supposed to be our boring trip. My July trip looks tame now!!
Well I was so jealous of your Poly club level but with just staying at a monorail resort I would also suggest an Epcot location. I think you will really enjoy the Beach Club especially it's central location. And think about it this way - you can consider it recon for a future visit with Logan. I personally am not much for compromise bc i probably would have held out for AKL but I too like to put a positive spin on anything that gets me to a stay at WDW [emoji173]
You two are too funny. Changes seem to be your modus operandi this year. We have stayed twice at Beach Club and really enjoyed both stays. I love walking into Epcot through the International Gateway, and since you all want to do the Christmas stuff there and at DHS, this location should be ideal.
Oh my lord Tara, what are you doing to us? The new plans look great, but what will be in store next....for the next round of alterations? I by contrast like the BWI a lot and probably mostly for the Bellevue Lounge as one of the best lounges in WDW and the bartenders are so great and engaging! Just love going there on my trips, although I've only stayed there once, so not necessary to stay there as visits are better for me! Usually every trip! The BC is great too as I stayed there in 2007 and loved it! I was saddened when the greeter there retired a few years ago as I loved it when I was greeted by him! He was such a positive addition to the staff at the BC and just one of those little things that add so much to your stay or visit at the BC! He is so missed and just can't think of his name....irreplaceable!

Ha!!! Before reading any of the newer posts, I had to do the poll. I'd like it noted that I guessed delivering babies!!! (But I thought I was probably wrong )
