As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just the way I like it - nice and UNcrowded!!
Last August (2014) our town began a program where every police officer was issued a "trading" card. It was like a baseball card. Each officer was to carry a supply with them and local businesses sponsored the costs so the sponsors also had a supply. There were a total of 80 cards including 5 K-9 Officers. The first person to collect all 80 cards won a new bike.
Well guess who won?
wait for it
wait for it
Did you guess Evan?
Then you would be right
I was so proud of him. We went around to the businesses. He asked every cop he saw if they had a card. He wrote letters and we hung out at the station during shift changes. It took a lot of time and effort but was so worth it. He got a $300 bike (way more that I would ever spend) a new helmet and a horn. He got to meet a ton of police officers and the Chief of Police. He meet the Mayor and was recognized at the Town Council Meeting, He got his name on the face book page and is picture in the paper, he was "declared" a forever friend of the Evesham Police Department, plus he now has bragging rights. At the town council meeting one of the dogs was retiring and he got to meet him too. Usually when we see the dogs they are on duty and you can't go and pet them. We even bought "Officer Niko" a new toy to enjoy during his retirement.
It was a really great experience and one of the bright spots during his troubling times during the winter.
In keeping with that. He had a minor squabble with his cousin this week and I sent him to his room. I asked Eric what had happened and he told me Evan had hit him and yada, yada, yada. I asked Evan if what Eric said was true and he said yes. Then Evan said to me he did hit Eric and that he should have made a better choice. I couldn't believe this was MY kid as he would normally push the blame onto someone else and never felt he ever did anything wrong. Not only is the medicine helping him but I think he is maturing as well.
He came home on Friday with is first A on a Math test, 24 out of 25. The teacher even texted me to tell me how terrific his behavior has been.
Wow! Evan on all fronts!! Evan really is adorable! Logan's Dad works at the White House and we were lucky enough to get a couple of private tours there. It is an amazing place!! You two sure do go to some cool places!!
Go, EVAN!! Fantastic news on all fronts! The best thing of all is that he sounds like he's so much happier with himself now. Even with occasional lapses in behavior, he's able to see his part in the world more clearly and adapt. VERY mature and VERY smart little boy. After all his tears (and yours) this past year this is just so heart-warming.

wow! That is so amazing about Evan winning the bike! Way to go! Such determination.
And it sounds like he's doing so much better. I know you must be so proud of him. You should be and proud of yourself for helping him do better.
So can you believe it is the end of April? I just don’t know where the time goes?
I’m super excited as I made final payment today, plus I did online check in. It has been a really long time since I have stayed on site. Our last trip we stayed at Shades of Green so I didn’t do online check in so this was new to me as was FP+ and the magic bands will be a new experience too.
We have tweaked our plans a little. Instead of leaving at 3am on Wednesday morning we are now going to drive down past Washington DC on Tuesday night. I’ll still work a regular day and figure if I’m all set with the car loaded we should be able to be leaving NJ around 7pm and then hopefully getting into northern Virginia by 10:30ish. This is just a much better thing.
My usual bedtime is 11pm to Midnight so that won’t change. But now Wednesday morning we can leave around 6-630 am. I usually get up by 5:30-6am so really no change there. So even though it will cost us one extra night at a hotel, in the long run I just feel better about this. So Wednesday we should only have about an 8 hour drive rather than 11. With a few breaks scheduled we still are able to make the drive in about 10 hours.
I booked my FP+ times –that was new to me. I had some problems but got things straighten away.
What I am truly aiming for is getting Peter Pan and the Mine Train in as standby within the first hour of park opening and then I won’t need the 8:50pm time slot and can change to something else, or keep if we really want to do it again.
Saturday 6/20
Today is Legoland so we won’t be arriving into the MK until after 7pm and staying until closing or into EMH.
Jungle Cruise 8:10pm-9:10pm
Big Thunder 9:25pm-10:25pm
Splash 10:25-11:25
Evan and I have a running bet. Our first trip in 2011 he was very nervous about Splash Mountain. I know he can handle it but he was scared. One day I told him you could meet Phineas and Ferb at Disney World and he didn’t believe me. We made a bet if you could meet them then he would ride Splash Mountain but if you couldn’t I would buy him a fire truck. Of course he lost the bet and when we got in line for Splash Mountain he began to cry. I tried to coax him along but it just wasn’t going to happen so we didn’t do Splash that trip. He was too small for Space so we just did BTMRR as Barnstormer was closed.
So then we were planning the trip for last summer – the one that we cancelled and we planned another bet. He would go on Space Mountain and if he liked it he would do Splash but if he didn’t then I had to pay him a dollar. I thought this was still a win for me as we would at least get to do Space Mountain.
So that got cancelled and our bet, more agreement, this time is I won’t make him go on the Haunted Mansion if he does Splash.I honestly don’t know what it is, why he is so scared of HM or Splash? He has done flume rides before but he is totally freaked out about HM. He hates all the shows I watch like that. Anything with a night vision camera and he is like “turn this off”. He actually turned off Ghost Hunters one night when he was walking through the room, while I was watching it, and was like “let’s read a book”. I thought what a genius way to get him to want to read. I’ll be streaming Ghost Hunters forever if that is all it takes…
Anyway so the plan for this year is to get him onto Splash Mountain. We have watched YouTube videos and I think he will be fine, he may just need a little nudge but with this being such a short trip I hope he isn’t too tired and have a freak-out.
