Is Belle a Disney Character? September 2015 PTR - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm glad you love Yak & Yeti! We've never been there before and have it booked for Aug on our 1st day. I get kind of nervous about trying new place but usually once I do, I end up falling in love with the place. Take some pics of the food for me!!!!
sounds like awesome plans! I will say I always cry when I see and leave my mother and i'm 36 LOL it never gets easier I dont think! But how awesome you get to spend time with her and do this too! Love love love Artist Point. I just did an update in my TR about Artist Point and the resort. We fell in love so much with this resort we are staying there in the fall. AK day is always the best day for downtime since they close the park early I think its best. Besides most disney trips are going to exhaust you because there's so much you want to do and see. I feel like if you dont come home and feel exhausted you didn't go to disney LOL My husband and I always plan two early nights and a half day at the resort with no park tickets to put some downtime in there for us. DHS is also another park where its easy to have an early night because in the fall they close at 7pm generally. We usually go straight over to DTD and spend the rest of our evening or head back for drinks at the pool bar at our resort. Sounds like great plans for that day so far
Your plans sound amazing!! Your Mom is going to have a ball!! I love that you two have such a special relationship and the pics of your family are so cute. . We also love watching the EWP from the WL and Artist Point is a beautiful restaurant!!
WL is one of my favorite places to watch the water parade! It goes to WL after passing by the Contemporary. I like watching from the boat dock.
Absolutely perfect! That’s what I was hoping for!!

If you like Asian food, you’ll definitely like Yak & Yeti!! But if you're going in August you will be there before me!!

What a dream to be able to stay at WL!!! I’ve been thinking more and more about adding in solid mid-day park breaks!! I am very go-go-go at Disney, but have experienced meltdowns (from my boyfriend!) because there wasn’t enough downtime for him!! I’m trying to be very careful on this trip because it would be amazing if Mom ended up liking Disney as much as I do, and that I could have a regular travel buddy!!

Trust me, the relationship between my Mom and I has not always been so close and open, though through our own personal trials and tribulations, we have learned how much alike we really are and accepted and grown our relationship from that! I have been to Artist Point once and absolutely loved it, so I’m looking forward to going back again!

Thank you! I hope to have more great times with even MORE family next month!!
Mom is getting more and more excited to go to Disney as we are at 29 days until Check-In/Fastpass+ selection! I mentioned to her this morning that Josh and I are going to see Jurassic World tonight. We reminisced about going to Universal as a family when I was in high school, and talked about how Dom and I would go to the parks while her and my dad would stay at the pool instead! Dom and I must have rode that Jurassic Park ride 10 times in a row! We love it! I foresee a Universal trip with my brother in the future! Don't you know? I'm psychic!
My new roommate, Robin, has been amazing! Even though she thinks I’m a bit silly about my Disney stuff sometimes , she gave me an old yellow Mickey poncho that she had!! I’ve always looked at these in pictures, and wished that I could have bought one back in the day. I’m so excited and thankful to have one now!
I’m very excited for Check-In/Fastpass+ day because it means that I will already be in New York!!! After having each of my parents come down to visit, it’s my turn to make the trek to go see them! In 24 days I will be back home in good ole NYS, enjoying life by a different body of water! I’ll be spending the majority of my time at our cabin on a lake; getting up early to have coffee and go fishing, and staying up late to play rummy at the kitchen table with Mom. We’re also celebrating our 50th year at the camp, thanks to my wonderful Grandfather and Grandmother who purchased it have done the upkeep on the cabin, dock, and boats all this time! We’ve invited lots of family and close friends to celebrate this milestone with us for one day while I will be there As much as I love Disney, the lake is what truly holds my heart!
Up next: Finally, plans for a full Magic Kingdom Day!!!
I sometimes feel terrible not making MK the first or last full day, but there are good intentions in my decision; based solely on crowd calendars I definitely want to be up early today, and make it to MK for the Welcome Show. I actually gave up a before-park-opening ADR at Crystal Palace in order to see the show, and am happy with my decision
I have been trying for weeks to get a breakfast ADR at Cinderella’s Royal Table (ideally at about 9:30am) but nothing has come about thus far, not even at a different time. I’m starting to think that it’s just not meant to be, as mother has expressed that breakfast is not something she normally has early, and would much rather have something small in the morning and then have a nice lunch.
With that being said, I have an early lunch ADR scheduled at Tony’s Town Square, with the main focus being the Pistachio Crème Brulee for dessert!
Trying to be more laid back with the schedule, I initially thought about taking an afternoon "break" by just doing shows throughout the park (Country Bear Jamboree, Carousel of Progress, Tiki Room, Hall of Presidents, Mickey’s Philharmagic, etc.) but am now thinking that a real afternoon break back at Pop will be more satisfying. I suppose we will find out in the moment
I do want to be at the park (back at the park?) for quick service dinner that I’m planning to have at Columbia Harbour House. The first time I learned of this place and ate there was on the Keys to the Kingdom tour. I loved it so much, and can’t wait to go back. It’s nothing fancy, or fantastic, but something about it just makes me happy!
The reason for our quick service dinner is because we have a hot date tonight, at the Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party!!!
Yes, I was up extremely early and online AGAIN the day that they announced the new fireworks party. Yes, I know it’s kind of ridiculous expensive but I don’t want to use a FP+ on fireworks, and Mom doesn’t actually know about it so it will be a nice surprise (She still hasn’t logged onto her MDE account!)!
I really wanted this day to be entirely MK immersed, starting out with the Welcome Show and ending with the Fireworks. Something about it just tells me that Mom is going to love it!!!
I’m sure that after two early mornings in a row, we will be heading straight to the hotel room after the fireworks to crash for the night!! One full day will be remaining on the Disney portion of our adventure…

I love the plans for your day at Magic Kindgdom! My husband loves Columbia Harbour House too! He feels like the views and little nooks to eat in there are great and its never crowded and the food is so good! Great choice!! Ah the dessert party that is amazing! I've always wanted to do that but my husband doesn't love dessert like I do so it would be a waste! We have a place on the lake too with my husbands parents in TN and we love it! waking up with coffee on the deck is my favorite part of the day!
