Our First Bounce Back Pre-Trip Report (9/13/14-9/20/14) - COMPLETED 9/6 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well according to Mickey Mouse, I have 12 days left before we head off to enjoy another week at his place. I just wanted to give everyone extreme heartfelt thanks for all the wishes and Pixie Dust regarding Joshua’s school situation for the upcoming year. Joshua starts back to school this Tuesday and I’m happy to report it’s the same one he was attending during the July and part of August. The meeting, which was very easy and straight forward and lasted all of ten minutes. Everyone was in a consensus on allowing Joshua to continue going to the school. In addition they also approved the budget regarding the transportation to the transportation to and from the school. What was not straightforward or easy, was my husband having to drive there and getting hopelessly lost trying to find the place. The GPS kept trying to send him to a different area with the same street name. The only difference was one was located in NW, where he actually needed to go, however for some strange reason the only location that would come up on the GPS was for the one in the NE area of town. So he called me for directions. I had to work that day, so the school was allowing me to conference in for meeting. Now, my DH has this annoying habit of continuing to drive, while I’m trying to Google directions. I had to get a little stern and told him that if he wanted my help that he was going to have to park the car, so I could get a reading on his location. Finally, he pulled into a gas station and from there I was able to guide him to the school. I knew I was going to have to do the same after the meeting ended, so told him to call me back and I would direct him back out. As he was leaving he missed his first turn, that I had instructed him to take, so I had to quickly figure out where he was and getting back on track yet again. Needless to say both of us we’re not in the best of moods at that point. I was a little disappointed on having to waste precious time out of our work day, especially DH’s. I did find out later on the person who called the meeting said if she had known that it was going to be that short, she would have had everyone conference in to the meeting. For some reason she was under the impression that the State was not going to approve the transportation budget, so she thought we would to be looking at locations closer to home. Anyway, I’m extremely happy that Joshua gets to continue his program with them.
This past week I got out our suitcases. Will’s suitcase wasn’t looking to good, so he went to Wal-Mart and brings home this little beauty…
I start to say good luck on making everything fit in there and stop short as he unzips it and it suddenly takes up the whole room. LOL
Next up was for me to wash and fold all of our matching Disney shirts that we’ll be wearing and to pack them in our suitcases.
Now, I’m not sure about everyone else, but I believe in early packing and not waiting for the last minute and I’m sure glad I did. We’re not much of the way of pool folks, but at least we have bathing suits or do we? Well, I was able to find mine and Joshua’s with no problems, but at last my dear sweet husband’s bathing suit has ran away or has flown the coop. Either way, we had no idea what happed to it. So, luckily for him I was able to order a couple from Target, which happened to be on clearance for $6.00 each, so I for that price I even picked up an extra one for Joshua.
Well folks, that’s all for this episode…
Tune in for last minute updates and final countdown stage….

Final Count Down has started....Please secure all belongs.
Well everyone pardon me for one moment while I shout and do the following….
Single Digit Dance….
This is it, just six more days and will heading down to Disney World. I just finished packing the last of our suitcases last night. Last year I brought a Garmin a few months before our trip. I had updated the maps and afterwards put it away for safe keeping. In fact, I did such a good job, that I couldn’t find it when it came time to go, so we ended up using our phones to help with navigating on our road trip. It wasn’t too bad, but the phone batteries took a huge drain and trying to keep them charged while driving was tedious. At times I would have to turn my phone off, so it could charge properly and allow the phone to cool down.
A few days ago, I went to get my Trent charger, which happen to be in my night stand and as I went to get the power cord that goes with it, I saw a small rectangular shape towards the back of the drawer. Could it be? Yes! It’s my long lost Garmin. Still looking good and working after being stuck in the dark for over a year. I quickly hooked it up to computer gave it some love and updated its maps. So, our Garmin will be joining us on our family trip this year. Now I can use my phone for more important things, like playing Passporter Podcasts, while we’re traveling.
I stopped by Target yesterday after work, so I could use my Red Card for the 5% discount off the Disney gift cards. I will be upgrading my ticket to an Annual Pass, a first for me. I have another trip, this time solo for my birthday in December! I’m not sure if I will be able to sneak another one in, since airplane tickets are quite expensive and I’m too chicken to drive by myself.
On top of all this, my DH surprised me this evening, by this following statement, “I guess will be bouncing back again”.
"Oh yes we will", was my quick reply. You don't have to ask me twice.
Until then, take care and thanks for following along.

Signing in! Glad you found the Garmin, as I became quite concerned with how hot my phone was getting on our roadtrip. And kudos to packing already - that's the one part of trip planning I can never seem to get in front of
