As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Next was the Muppets. I do love this show. They’ve added some new elements to the preshow area.
The film is still the same. But I still laugh at all the jokes. After the Muppets, I bought something to drink and found a bench for a little people watching. After finishing my drink, I went on Star Tours using the standby line. It took about 5 minutes, and most of that was walking through the queue! Even though I mostly have no idea what the heck is going on, I still think the ride is fun!
It was time to use my TSMM FP+. It was one of the original ones I made, so I was sure to have it ready on the app. When I tapped my MB, the CM was very dismissive and told me I didn’t have a FP. Most of the time they were good about it. I was happy to have the app ready to show the cranky CM. I suppose they get a lot of cheaters at TSMM.
The ride was fun and I got a pretty good score.
Good enough to be best in vehicle. Yay!
I was ready to head over to explore the Epcot resorts, so I made my way out of the park. I stopped to watch Mulch, Sweat and Shears play in front of the hat.
There was a guest there enjoying the show. Well, that’s an understatement. He was absolutely rocking out. In fact, he attracted quite a bit of attention. And his family members all walked away, pretending not to know him. It was awesome. I really enjoyed his enthusiasm! And hey, he’s not related to me! The guys loved him so much, they asked him to join the band!
That was a lot of fun! And the guy got to keep his guitar (as did the other woman, who was also having a lot of fun with it, but was totally upstaged by the other dude’s antics).
I didn’t have time to take a photo of the park tree because I could see the boat unloading. I carefully thought out my touring plan, starting with the Boardwalk. I think these are my favorite resort decorations. I couldn’t say why – it’s certainly not the theme I find appealing (I do find it appealing, just not more appealing than any other). Perhaps it’s as simple as having a lot of red (my favorite color).
I thought the new gingerbread house was cute. I really loved the clever ways to make the lights and stuff (and I do love little details like that).
I particularly love the garlands at BW. So lush!
I walked over to the BC next, getting to enjoy a bit of a wedding at the little pavilion by the BW (I never take photos of strangers’ weddings – it feels invasive to me). I took plenty of pictures at the BC, though!
I was hungry, which was perfect, because the plan was to eat at Beaches and Cream (I have long ago given up on finding a counter service place to my liking at DHS ). I checked in and got a pager, then took a seat and caught up my notes.
After about 15 or so minutes, my pager went off. The CM told me she had a table for me, but I politely asked if I might sit at the counter instead, which seemed to throw her off! I got my usual – a cheeseburger!
Unfortunately, I was too full for dessert. Next time, I think I’ll just go for the No Way Jose. Mmmm, No Way Jose.
Up Next: More holiday decorations

What a great day so far. Your comments about the Studios are really cracking me up and I can so sympathise with them, as it's my least favourite park, although I never expected to hear you say these things with your favourite attraction located there...
Jumping in!!! I need to pay more attention to the links in everyone's siggy. Anyway, I'm loving your TR so far. I can tell it's a good one based on the number of times I've randomly burst out into giggles. Like the caption you wrote underneath that photo of Santa holding the baby...very funny.
And I'm just going to take a big guess at this, but are you a fan of Glee? Totally just a guess, and definitely not based on anything I've read on here so far.
Too bad you won't be in Disney during the week of May 10th to the 18th because Hope could use a veteran ToT rider. She keeps saying she wants to ride the ride that makes your tummy feel weird, and ever since I was pregnant with her, my nerves won't let me get on it anymore. Not sure why, maybe it's all in my head...who knows. Of course my mom and brother will be going on it with her, but having a fellow PPer on there would have been a nice touch.
You always crack me up! Can just imagine that survey! But absolutely agree with you on lack of breakfast there..........as a matter of fact, once emily and I had a caramel apple for breakfast there! hey, it had fruit!
That burger sure looks good!

I know you weren't having the best day at DHS, but I am loving your ride photos! And you are right, they need a decent breakfast. Fairfax Fare does offer an egg and sausage biscuit, but I don't care for those myself.
I never knew about the Jack Sparrow thing... looked neat! I did the Caspian one when it was there but never made a point for that one. Sorry rides were broken and DHS was just being a big pain in the rear this morning, but hey, at least you had the wonderful Epcot resorts to break up the day!

DHS is my least favorite park for many of the same wrong things you mention in this update. After the picture of the B&C burger, I'm craving one for myself.
Just joining in - what a wonderful time you are having. Glad FP+ is working out for you. I'm still not so sure about it, but I haven't used it yet either.
Great photos from DHS and Boardwalk. I agree with you about the lack of breakfast options at DHS. I always love seeing Mulch, Sweat and Shears perform, that is always a good time! That burger looked delicious and now I'm hungry!!

Sounds like a dud of a day at DHS... except for the cowboy version of the Great Movie Ride. That always gets me excited! DHS has grown on us over the years, but I'm not a fan of the dining there. (That's probably an understatement.) We almost always venture out of the park for dinner. Love the Sweet Treats display at Boardwalk! Making me hungry for some gingerbread.
Oh my, I imagine you tapping the iPad angrily, completing the survey, all the while letting out all your frustrations.
Now, on to the important stuff. How the heck do you get the cowboy scene on the GMR? Every single time I've gone on this I always get the gangster side. I'm kind of sick of it.
I don't think we've EVER had the western side of GMR. Someday....
Love imagining how cranky you were getting - perhaps channeling the grumpy old men from the Muppets?! But totally understand - there is a lot of room for improvement on a number of fronts for DHS.
Lunch looked good, but a No Way Jose would have looked better!
