The Perpetual Disney Adventures with the D Family TR - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

That's a really good point. You (thankfully!) do still lots of merchandise for him, so I don't understand removing him from meets and greets.
Me either

We made it to a park today so there are more adventures to come
So my in-laws came back to the house yesterday afternoon and reported that they got to ride KS twice and on the 2nd ride, Mosi was in the road (MIL said she could have reached out and touched him) and they had to call another truck to come out and honk to get him out of the road! What an experience! But I wish I would have been at AK for Yak Attack

We did make it to MK today for several hours and tomorrow we are heading to DHS for an early morning and lunch at Sci-Fi so I'll have some updates coming
In the meantime, I had to come and share a photo because we had a major milestone today- Stella got her first ears!!!!!
We've been trying to get her ears since her first trip. Initially she wouldn't even put them on her hear and then over the last 20 months or so, she has gradually looked at them, tried them on for a hot second, etc. Every time we are in a park, we ask her if she wants ears and she has always said no. But today she said yes!!!! I'm so thrilled- this was a huge moment for this mama!
I was culling photos tonight and realized I have about 30 photos of her ears so there will be more when I get back to do an update

I'm so happy you're doing a perpetual trip report I really enjoy your reports!
I also am sad about EEYORE (lol my phone auto corrected to it being all caps because whoever I was last texting about him got pretty heated). He's my favorite too
Looking forward to reading more! And seeing More of Stella's first ears
Stella is adorable in her ears! When Cam was 18 months he had his hair cut and they gave him first haircut ears. He kept them on for over an hour. Then a few days later we bought him his ears with his name on them. And he kept pulling them off. Not sure what the deal was, but I was unable to get the ears back on him at all for the rest of the trip. I'm hoping he'll wear them in January and that Mallory will wear hers. At least for a picture, but I'm not counting on it.
Mosi is going to be an attention grabber, I do believe!
Congrats on the first ears, Stella!
I think so- when we saw him he seemed to be eating up the attention!

Thanks!! If I can just stay on top of it, hopefully I can keep this TR going (but I'm 3 days behind right now )

We totally tried the first hair cut earlier this year but the minute she realized she would have to sit in the chair, she stuck to my like glue so we decided to forgo it. She actually still hasn't had a hair cut (but she can get away with it being a girl!) So long as they wear them for a picture, that's all that matters, right!
With the inlaws in town, we made plans to visit MK on the Saturday of their trip. Earlier in the week, Stella woke up with a fever and shared whatever superbug she picked up at daycare with me Wednesday she was sick and by that afternoon, I could feel it coming on. Thursday I felt crummy, but it was manageable. By Friday, I felt like death On Friday night we agreed that if I didn't feel better by the morning, I would just stay home. Thankfully, that night of seemed to help and by morning I was feeling half human. I jumped in the shower and was feeling well enough to go. I figured the humidity would probably help anyway.
We opted to take 2 cars just in case I started feeling bad and wanted to leave. We wanted to be out the door by 9am and I think we left right on schedule. It was a quick trip over and we were entering WDW grounds by about 9:20am. We zipped through the main gates and headed to the Scar Villains lot. I've figured out that when there are 2 lanes at MK, if you stick to the outside lane (depending on what side they park you on), you have a better chance of getting towards the front (and in this heat- I'm all about minimizing time in the hot parking lot.) We ended up parking a little less than half way down the lane so my hypothesis was right!
We opted to walk rather than ride the tram because we were so close that it wasn't a far hike (and DH and FIL are training for the Dopey so they are squeezing in steps where they can!) A quick express Monorail ride later and we were making our way through bag check and the gates.
Once inside, Mickey had a posted time of 10 minutes and if you've followed any of our TRs, you know that basically there is no passing up meeting Mickey...ever! Tyler and FIL decided to go and ride Splash Mountain and BTRMM while we met Mickey. Allen ran and grabbed up Princess FP's, which worked out to be good about the time we would be done with Mickey.
We got in line for Mickey and waited closer to 15 minutes, but no one was complaining since we were waiting in the A/C! MIL called SIL while we were in line because SIL wanted her to facetime with DNiece to see Mickey.
It was our turn very quickly (is it me or do they seems to be not filling the rooms nearly as much as they used to? Seems like the last several times we've met Mickey here, we've only been in line with a few other families instead of jam packed?)
Mickey is very tech savvy with facetiming as it turns out!
Allen, his mom (MIL) and Stella together:
And giving Mickey a kiss:
Upon exiting, Stella stopped to look at the different ears options (which is pretty common.) Allen asked her if she wanted ears and she looked right at him and said "yes!" I had to ask her again to make sure she wasn't just pulling my leg because she has said "no" countless times before. She was sure though, she wanted ears!
Then the selection process ensued. I think she must have tried on every last pair of ears but most of them are fitted for adults (thankfully!) so selling her on the classic ears in pink wasn't too hard...but she really liked the Buzz ears and I'm sure she'll get them one day...
Allen let her pick the font and color of thread for her name and we decided to hang out and wait for them to be embroidered since there was no one else getting ears at this time. It was less than 5 minutes before Stella had her ears! She put them right on and happily headed outside.
Right outside the store:
Our Princess FP's were ready but Stella noticed a street show happening in front of the train station and she wanted to watch. MIL took the opportunity to grab a water and I took the opportunity to take more pictures of her ears!
We then proceeded back to the A/C to use our Princess FP's (wait time was posted at 50 minutes.) The Princesses greeting guests this morning were Cinderella, Aurora and Rapunzel. I was hoping for Belle but she wasn't there and MIL quickly suggested that perhaps she isn't doing greets there anymore since the Storytime with Belle attraction would in essence have her in 2 places at once- which I hadn't even though about.
Bless those FPs- we were directed to a room in no time at all!
First was Cindy:
And then Aurora (who had lots to talk about with Stella)
And then finally Rapunzel, who Stella enjoyed twirling with!
As we were leaving, Rapunzel commented on Stella's braided hair and provided us with some hair maintenance tips
