Happy 10 Years - The Anniversary of our "Dreams" PTR (August 20-Sept 2) - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm curious to find out about how that oil works. I am not prone to motion sickness either, but the last time I cruised I felt off some days. Like hungover almost. I did notice what would set me off though and it was the little ceramic tiles in the bathroom of our stateroom. They were tiny white and blue tiles and honest to god, I had to shower and get out of there ASAP and dry my hair or do my makeup out in the room. IDK why, but they would trip me off.
I love your countdown on you phone, where did you find that?
That's so weird about the bathroom tiles! I'm really hoping we won't need to use the oil, or any other remedies, but if we do I'll be sure to report back how it works
That app is so much fun! I think it was called Days to Go, or something like that. It was $.99, so not too bad. It's customizable, so you can use your own pictures for it. If you use more than one, it scrolls through them in a slide show. The girls love checking it every day to see how much time is left

I'm sure the mister fan and cooling towel will come in handy! I will definitely report back on the oil, even though I hope we won't need it!

That's good to know! I'm glad it worked for your son, I'm sure that was not fun at all getting sick every time he was in the car.

I also found some ginger gum, made by the same people who make SeaBands. I may pick up some of that as well. I'm going to get some Bonine just in case, but I'll try every non drug remedy out there that I can find. I hate the side effects of medicines Even drugs that claim to be non drowsy or side effect free affect me, and sometimes those effects are worse than the symptoms I was trying to treat I have mild seasonal allergies, and I've tried all of the non drowsy pills, they make me feel spacey, dizzy and tired. So, now I just skip them and muddle through the sneezes, clogged sinuses and itchy eyes. I can deal with that much more than the effects from the drugs!

It's too bad you still felt sick with the sea bands on I'll be bringing some Bonine too, but like I told Laurie, it will be my very last resort. Fingers crossed that I won't need anything though!
You seem to be getting a LOT more done than I'm even thinking of doing and we're right behind you
Love all the dining plans and that you didn't cancel any. (We haven't yet either )
Already checked-in, nice!
I'll be looking to you for all kinds of questions about the girls and allergies on the cruise ship when you get home. I'm hoping next summer will be our turn on the cruise.
Oh, and try the breathe right nasal strips, at least at night during allergy season. They help me a lot
for PIF! Hope none of you get motion sick, but I would be interested to know how the oil works.
I'll be sure to report back on how it works

Well, you better get crackin! It will be here before you know it
I hope you guys get on a cruise next year!! I'll take lots of notes on the food allergy situation, but from what I've read so far they handle them just as awesome as they do in WDW
Thanks for the tip on the Breath Right strips, I've never tried them before.
Well, that was quick! Our Photopass+ voucher came in the mail yesterday I'm hoping to get it redeemed on the night of our arrival, just so I don't have to take time away from our park touring the next day. I'm not sure the logistics of that will work out though. Does anyone know how late the Photopass desk in Team Mickey's is open? We should be arriving at POR around 8 or so, but check in should not take too long since we've already checked in online. I'm thinking that I can take the girls to the room and get settled, while Chris heads to DTD. Thoughts?

I think DTD shops are all open late 10, 11pm ish. I think all ears and the Disney site has the hours posted. I assume all shops keep the same hours. Too bad that the hotel front desk cant do the photopass stuff.
I'm curious about how late Team Mickey's is open, too, as we will be getting in late for our October trip.
I'll let you know how it goes!

I didn't even think to look at allears.net! Duh! I was googling Team Mickey and hours, coming up with nothing Allears says that the shops are open until 11 on weeknights, as well as Guest Relations, so I'm thinking the Photopass location will be open that late too. I'd really hate for Chris to trek it all the way there and it be closed, I know he won't be to happy if that happens. I agree, it would make it so much easier if the front desk could take care of the photopass stuff too!
I wish I had an answer for you on Team Mickey. Good luck! I'm glad it's all coming together. Getting that voucher sure made it seem just around the corner!
I reserved our town car to get us to the port last night and I have to say that I am super impressed with the customer service at Quicksilver! I had a couple of questions, so I emailed them. Within what seemed like minutes I had a response back from Gregory (I think he's the owner) with all of my answers. He was prompt and courteous, a pleasure to deal with.

You snuck in there on me! I'm sure it will all work out and we'll get that voucher taken care of no problem. It does seem like it's right around the corner!
