The "Okay-So-I-Finally-Finished-Last-Year's-TR-And-We're-Leaving-In-Two-Weeks" PTR - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Uhmmm, hold the phone......did you say ONE checked bag??? How much weight did you guys loose
Ya know CR is another one I want to try too.....I wonder how the kids would go for that one.
Yeah, so Sandy....I'd like to kick her in the you know what. I know we are going to have to evacuate again......maybe we will come up to you and help you pack that one checked bag
You know, I didn't even notice you mentioned only one checked bag until I saw the comments How in the heck did you manage that?? Wanna take one of mine?
I am so with you about starting pre-trip reports late - I love starting them just in the last few days before we go, as it really adds to the excitement!
Yay! I love getting to the "this-time-next-week" portion And I have nothing to say about Sandy, well except that she better not get in between me and Disney!!!!
I love "this-time-next-week..." and the boys and I have been playing that game.
Seriously...Sandy...UGH!

Your trip is so close now! I hope Sandy doesn't try to mess with your vacation just like Debby messed with mine.

Craig has had the Kobe burger and liked it a lot.

Ummm...not as much as I would have liked before the big MS cinnamon bun adventure begins.
We've been taking the boys to CR since Jason was 3 1/2. They love the fish tank.
You know you are all welcome up here for Sandy, we'd love to have you

You scared me! I knew they were closing in January when I made our ADRs and actually now that I've googled it, it looks at though they've pushed it back until February. So, I think we're good

Thank you. And I like that we're going so soon after I started as well. It's fun typing out the plans and getting to them quickly

Thanks for the pixies.
Okay...seems like I may have been a wee bit unclear in my last post. What I meant by pick up our one checked bag, was pick up the one checked bag that we are NOT having DME deliver to the resort. We'll each have a suitcase of our own packed to the gills. Don't you worry about that I will just be packing one with lighter clothes and our essentials that we'll pick up from baggage claim so we can change in the room and hit the park and not have to wait for DME to deliver. So, sorry for the mis-information. If anything I am an uber-over-packer.
So, I’m going to give you the quick plans for the next 4 days because I’m just not sure how long we’ll have power this weekend. I’m hoping for the best of course, but you never know.
This time next week for:
Saturday: This is our first DHS day and we’re hoping to get there for EMH to get on line for TSMM and grab FPs for later. We also have lunch at Mama Melrose planned with friends of ours that are taking the same week. Tyler and their son Matthew have played baseball together since t-ball and of course the baseball moms have all become close. They’ll be travelling with the mom’s parents who have DVC and are booked in BLT Grand Villa for part of their stay. Guess who has two thumbs and invited herself to visit them in the BLT Villa…yup…this girl!! I can’t wait to see it. Jenn (JKnott17) and her family will also be at DHS this day and we’re hoping to see them today as well. We spent the entire week down there last year at the same time as Jenn and her family and didn’t see them once. (Although the back of Craig’s head showed up in one of her breakfast TR pictures from CMC )
Sunday: Our MK day and I must insist on making RD this day. Last year was the first time we did and I stood there with a big grin and tears on my cheeks. Needless to say, I loved it and want to see it again. We have no TS plans today and if we didn’t see Jenn and her family yesterday, they’ll be at MK today too!
Monday: This is our AK day because we figured it’s the shortest day in the park and Craig has to go and pick up Zach at the airport tonight. We don’t have a meal here either because Zach’s choice for the trip is Y&Y so we’re waiting for him to get here before we eat at AK. DHS has EMH that night so the boys and I have some choices when Craig goes to the airport. We can hit DHS if we’re up to it, watch a movie on the beach or maybe walk over to Epcot to catch a little of Illuminations. We’ll have to wait and see.
Tuesday: Epcot had morning EMH and our plan is to get there early and do what we can. Then get CS for the boys for lunch and Craig and I will sample the F&WF for our midday meal. We wanted to get to F&WF pretty early on because we were there the last weekend last year and it was nuts! Add to that the Wine & Dine Half Marathon and I imagine we won’t want to be anywhere near Epcot on the weekend. Then we have dinner at CG this night and it’s a great time so that we can watch Wishes. So, question, do we stay at the table, or can we get up and go out on the deck to watch? What’s the best way?
Hopefully I’ll get our last four days plans up tomorrow
