Goin' Down the Bayou, a PTR ~ November 1-10 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yes!! Pinkie swear We had way too many so-close-and-yet-so-far misses last year. We will fix that And I'm drooling over penne vodka for the second time reading this TR.
Love animation academy I'd love to draw someone non-fab five this trip.
Great plans so far! We just changed our reservation from Beach Club to POR Royal rooms so we will be checking in the day you check out!
Can't wait to hear more plans!
Sounds like a great day! I hope you and Dawn connect on this trip. MSEP is my favorite night-time parade.
Me too! I just love that parade! It brings me right back to being a little girl watching on my Dad's shoulders everytime I see it

we tried this exact thing in october - watching Hallowishes from the Poly and the water parade. They do not pip in the music by the beach at the pool. I believe they do on the beaches away from the pool. However in october 2011 they had the water parade come and perform at the Poly at the Same time of HalloWishes. I quess they don't adjust the times from the "normal" schedule to account for the change in fireworks during MNSSHP.
Good to know! I'll check allears.net for the schedule, thanks

Well, I think she'll try them, she's turning into a little daredevil now that she's a little older. So strange to me, since when she was younger she was afraid of everything! Our church is having their annual carnival this week, so we took the girls over one night. The first ride they want to go on is this really high "Free Fall" type ride, so we let them. Abby did not like it all, but Kaeli came off screaming, "That was awesome!!". Definitely not what I was expecting!

Animation academy is so fun, I hope you get to do it! Now I'm really excited about MM

Yes, we will!
Funny, because we've never drawn one of the fab five in all of our trips to the AA We always seem to get obscure or less popular characters, and I'm like all I want to do is draw Mickey!!

I saw your post a little while ago about changing your reservation, I hope you really like the Royal Rooms! We leave really late on Saturday night, so we'll probably be meandering around POR that day, say hello if you see us!
On Sunday we will spend a full day at the MK, starting off with breakfast at CRT. Before our last trip was even over Kaeli had asked if we could eat in the castle again on our next trip We had eaten breakfast at CRT in 2009 and enjoyed it very much, so I has happy to oblige her request this time around. I snagged an 8:05 am timeslot, I can't wait to get some great shots in front of the castle in the early morning hours.
Now, I am expecting the worst and hoping for the best on this one, but if the new Fantasyland is up and running by the time our trip comes around, I think we will head over to the new section first thing after breakfast. After that I'm sure we will hit some of our favorites, including BTMRR, Splash Mountain, the Peoplemover and hopefully Kaeli will conquer SM!
We will see how the afternoon goes, but possibly we will take a break around lunch time and make our way back to POR. It depends, as we have a 4:30 dinner planned at CP and I don't want to be rushing back to make it on time. Although, this dinner may get canceled if Be Our Guest happens to open and I can snag a reservation there instead! I will try and push the time back a little, but right now there are no availabilities to do that at CP.
144 days to go! You can do anything you set you mind to. Just promise your Daddy one thing? That you'll never, ever lose sign what is really important. Okay? ~ James, Tiana's Daddy

Great plans for day 3! Be Our Guest sounds amazing, I may have to consider it, hope its open and you get an ADR. Hope Kaeli conquers SM, my boys did last year and loved it, me not so much.
Love the plans so far, we are trying MM for the first time this trip - for some reason we just never made it over there but after reading so many wonderful reviews in TRs I knew we had to get it on the list for this trip.
Love the early ADR at CRT, something so magical about walking in to an empty MK. I am hoping that Be Our Guest will be open as well, I will be there for a few days that weekend for some business so I am hoping to be able to snag an ADR (of course the girls will kill me for trying it without them but mommy needs to have some fun as well )

CRT isn't big on the boys lists of places to eat . But I'm hoping too that Be Our Guest opens as well and we can snag an ADR there.
Totally stealing your idea about watching one of the party night fireworks from the Poly beach. I mentioned it to Craig and apparently he's been keeping up here on the boards...although stealthily...and said "didn't your friend Jenn say they were going to do that" So I got caught But, it's a great idea!
I love the countdown calendar! So cute and creative. If I was not planning a surprise, I would totally borrow that idea from you for my kids' next trip! The plans sound great so far. They are giving me some great ideas!!
Great plans for Day 3! I really hope Be Our Guest is open by your trip, it is on our list for dinner next year.
Thanks! I really hope we get to eat there this year!

I'm glad Chris likes SM, he can go on with Kaeli if she wants I can't do that ride anymore, and I hate that she would have to be in a seat alone. I know I'd be a wreck worrying about her.

I really wish Disney would firm up the opening dates, instead of just saying "holidays 2012", when the heck is that?!?! I totally agree, you deserve some fun as well! If you get there without the girls, just tell them you were trying it out to make sure they would like it

Oh, man, busted! But, you have good reason to have fallen behind I hope everything is going smoothly with your new venture!
You can always ditch the boys and join us at CRT that morning
