Six months and counting…But will I be able to walk by then? My Disney hopes and Fantasy wishes PTR - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So here’s a bit of why I am bringing up our National Lampoon Vacation. Last week when Heather was running on the treadmill doing her nightly routine, the thing suddenly went bonkers. The speed shot up to 6 miles an hour…her top walk is a little over 4 miles. She hopped off of it and it just went crazy. I swear it had a mind of it’s own. We shut it down and started it again and realized the controls weren’t responding. I tried to fix it by recalibration but it wouldn’t work. The emergency switch also failed. Scratch one 2 year old Gold’s Gym Treadmill…another one on the way. Not Gold’s.
So the other day I went into the bathroom and noticed that the rug in front of the toilet was wet…Huh??? I didn’t have a clue and waited for Dan to take a look when he got home from work. The potty is around 40 years old. It’s lavender for gosh sakes. We replaced the sink with a bone colored one a couple years ago and dealt with the purple monstrosity. I should mention that this is the house that I grew up in. My mother chose these colors…poor thing. Anyway, Dan checked it out and he said that it is leaking from underneath. That the wax seal must be worn??? I should mention that he worked with flooring before I met him and one of his jobs was to remove and/or install potties. We went to our local Lowes Home Goods and purchased a new one in a matching bone color and will save money because my dear hubby will remove the old and install the new. Problem solved.
We have a half bath downstairs off of the laundry room and a few nights ago Heather came running upstairs and told me how water was gushing out of the bottom of the tank. Really??? Dan checked it out and it seems that that one is also shot. So maybe he can fix this one…maybe not. I won’t know until this coming week when the poor guy is off and has to do all these repairs and the normal maintenance. Plus due to the leak upstairs the bathroom carpet will have to be replaced. So you thought that was it? Not quite.
A about a month ago, I realized that the window on the driver side of our car would not go down. It also will not lock or unlock with the clicky thing. I asked my mechanic about it and it seems that Chevy Equinox are famous for this. So I’m looking at around $300 for this repair. Yikes!!!
So….
New potty…..$250.00
Installation……free
2nd potty…….$100.00 ( white is cheaper)
Installation……free
New carpet…$200.00
Installation……free
Car repair…..$300.00 plus?
Another National Lampoon Vacation….Priceless….or maybe not!
Ok….so not as bad as last time with the bathroom sink flood, the kitchen flood and a new freezer going on the fritz Thanksgiving weekend but…it’s a starter….Hopefully enough is enough.
So on to better things….I have not shopped that much except for a couple of pairs of shoes and new sneakers for all of us. This week I have to lay out everything that I plan to take and cut it in two. Can I do it??? We’ll see.
Something new that we are doing this time is dressing up for MNSSHP and pirate night on the cruise. It will be easy because we will be pirates for both. I looked online for a suitable costume and really couldn’t find anything nice that was not cut down to here and up to there. Really ridiculous for a mature woman and some of them a little risqué even for a young woman. What are these companies thinking? Even for Dan things were kind of uninteresting, unless you want to be Captain Jack Sparrow. Nothing wrong with Captain Jack but you know you’re going to see a lot of him. Lol.
So we all decided to “piece” our costumes out. A shirt and hat from here….a skirt and bustier from there. In the end we all have some pretty kiss*** outfits that would make any pirate proud. Myself, I started with a long black skirt with a red overskirt that is shaped like petals. I added a white blouse that has long flowing sleeves and can be worn off the shoulder or not. Next is a black vest that laces up the front. My look is completed with over the knee black boots and a fancy pirate hat. Here’s a few of the pieces Skirt with overskirt

Next is Heather who opted for a black and red petal skirt. She plans to wear black leggings under the skirt just in case of strong winds. We actually started her outfit with Pirate Angelica’s costume but it really wasn’t made that well. Out of the package she will use the blouse, vest and belt. We purchased the deluxe Angelica hat and a new waist cincher. She also has knee high black boots. Petal skirt(another view of my blouse)

Boots(black)
Dan was the most difficult. He wanted to settle for a t-shirt and after all of mine and Heathers planning….well let’s just say he wasn’t going to get away with this that easily. But he took more work. Black pants and vest…a sexy white pirate shirt and red sash. He completed his look with black pirate boots…not Jack’s…and a black Musketeer hat with red and white ostrich feathers. I can’t wait to see all of us all dressed up. It’s going to be so cool! Pirate vest

Boots
These of course are just web images. I’m hoping to put everything together before we cruise and take some pictures. Can’t wait for this and I’ll be sure to post.
New update….
Well Dan’s vacation week came and went. I don’t know if you could really call it a vacation as he was busy doing something just about every day. He installed the new toilet and it’s working and looks great. Purple monstrosity…out of there! The one downstairs is still leaking but he ran out of time. The old treadmill is standing outside and Dan helped me put together the new one. It is also working great and Heather is a happy camper. He shampooed all the carpets in the house as well as in the car, mowed the lawn, trimmed the hedges, repaired the bathroom sink faucet. It was wobbly for some reason. We did go out for sushi and ice cream. That was a diet breaker for me and Heather but we are back on track. I think he’s glad that he’s back to work so he can get some rest. Lol. He’s been great especially dealing with dad’s Altz. He’s never seen an episode, never mind being caught in the middle of one. But he was ok and I think he understands what’s really going on.
By the way, I did get to empty my luggage and look at everything. Dan and Heather were ok but me…not so much. I had way too much clothing and did manage to cut it down quite a lot. I’m kind of proud of myself but boy what a lot of luggage space the pirate outfits are taking up. Well that's it for now. Can't wait for this vacation and by the way...the veridct for Dan's tux is stll out. Though I found out something I didn't realize. It would seem that he got the idea not from 007 but from a wedding picture of my parents that I have on my hutch shelf. Mom looks like a China doll all in white lace and dad quite handsome in his tux...yep...white jacket and all.
