'Ummm, no Mom, you ARE NOT going without me'.....a pre-trip report - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm so glad that you are feeling better! It's easy to get overwhelmed--but it sounds like you've got everything back under control! Don't worry! You can do this and you are going on vacation!
Single Digit Dancing Day!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!! I'm dancing all over the house this morning!!! Still some pain in my belly, but the dancing just HAS to help!!! If you hear hooting and hollering, don't worry! It's just ME!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy 8 days out day to us!!! WOOHOO!!!! I didn't get ANYTHING done as far as packing yesterday! Heck, I didn't even get laundry finished! LOL!! I just ran out of time! But it was a great day! ANYWAY, my point for this whole post is to share that yesterday evening before I left for the scentsy thing, Brandon popped up and asked if we were eating any breakfasts out. I said no, I had already used all our DDP TS points. I mentioned that we could go down to the food court and use CS points on breakfast if he didn't want the concierge offerings every day. He didn't sound very enthusiastic. What can I say, he's a HUGE fan of breakfast foods just like me! Anyway, I said we could do something out of pocket. I knew Betty wouldn't care. So I did some looking and Kona breakfast is very reasonable! Plus, one more way to enjoy staying at the Poly! He was thrilled! So I emailed Poly IPO and they got us booked for Dec 1 at 8:50 am! WOOHOO!!! It's a little later than I had intended it to be, but that's the bonus to being at Poly. Since it's an EPCOT day, we can take the monorail over and it will be quicker than waiting for the bus! Plus, we really aren't rushing as much as usual on this trip. Even though it's our shortest trip to date, with 3 adults (let's face it, at 16, Brandon is practically an adult), we can move a little faster and make better time than we could when they were little. So, YAY!!! Now we have an awesome breakfast to look forward to! I haven't been to Kona since 2004! I think is was 2004! It was the year hurricane Jeanne hit while were were there. ANYWAY, it's been a LONG time, so I can't wait! Today I have high hopes of working on some packing! Happy Sunday, everyone!!!
Congrats on the mail and the ADR. Don't worry about the packing - if you forget something, it means you can live without it (or it's worth buying down there). I've started collecting my notes into one document, and I feel tons more prepared. I'm not worried about packing - that's next weekend's project and I have a Target a mile & a half from my house (and if they don't have it at Target, it means I don't need it).
Good luck finishing up work! We leave next Tuesday, so I have four more days. Not that I'm counting...
1 Week, Folks!!! In one week I'll be landing in Atlanta to change planes and head into Orlando!! WOW!!! This is truly a wonderful feeling! Betty must be as excited as I am b/c she texted me at 6:16 this morning telling me in one week we'd be on the plane!!! I LOVE that she is as excited as me! I definitely gave her the Disney bug! Brandon and I did a mini happy dance this morning. I say mini b/c he wasn't very energetic! I told him to quit complaining b/c he only has school today and tomorrow, then he's out until after we come back from vacation! On the to-do list for today: Get my nails done!!! WOOHOO!!! I also need to do some searching for my hat and gloves to pack just in case I need them. I must have put them in a strange spot last spring b/c I cannot, for the life of me, figure out where they are! LOL! Jeff and I are going to do some Christmas shopping, too. So, it should be a good day! Happy Monday, everyone!!
5 days and counting! Happy Thanksgiving Eve! Yesterday evening was Isle of Lights evening and we had such a good time! It was cold, though! By the time I left I couldn't feel my feet! LOL! Everyone kept asking if we were drinking b/c we were all laughing so hard! NOPE!! Just 4 crazy women and a sadly outnumbered 11 yr old boy! Today I work all day, then I'll come home and start making pies and the snowball cake. I'll stuff the bird and get him ready to roll (I roast him overnight), get the bread machine set so we have the first of two hot, fresh loaves of bread for dinner. In the morning I'll start the second. Oh, and make the cranberry sauce, too! It's gonna be busy, but I love the fun of having all the family here on Thanksgiving! Happy Day! Only 5 more days till I'm in my happy place! The weather is still looking great! Let's hope it stays that way!!!
