The way We do a Disney Re-Do ~~ Beach club Aug 13-22 - FINISHED!!! 1/20 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your experience on the Great Movie Ride had me smiling so big. Stefanie loves this one, except for the Alien section where she buries her head in my side. She can almost cue each movie right before we come to it. Hope you made it back to BC without difficulty.

I loved reading your PTR and am very happy to have found your TR! Your first day sounds pretty magical despite the rain and frustration getting to DHS. Looking forward to more!
I am so glad that you were able to ride TSMM before it closed down for refirbishment, I know you were all dissappointed you missed it last year. Glad that you were able to ride it twice....it is such a fun ride but it does make your arms sore
(Sorry for the slow updates..We have had a crisis in the house...no one is hurt...but I have been cleaning for days...enough said and on with the TR...)
It was now a bit before 6:00. We wanted to get into dry clothes before our 7:15 ADR at Cape May, so we headed out (to the boats, this time). We had spent about 2 hours at DHS and experienced 2 things. We call this a success! The boat ride was long and slow (painfully slow, but sheltered from the rain), but gave the littlest another chance to catch a quick nap before.
Before leaving our room earlier, we had left a note and $5 tip for the person delivering our luggage. We were pleased to find that bell services had left a note in reply, signing his name as “Mike” and telling us to contact him if we needed anything else. So sweet!
We were also surprised to find a welcome note from Dana (the CM I had talked with before the trip and whose name I dropped at the front desk) and a white chocolate Mickey sculpture and some cute Mickey dipped strawberries. We were blown away!!!
This was beyond the expected Disney Magic! DD (6) pointed out that the plate only included 4 strawberries—they left one of us out!! (Or did they? Could they have known that a chocolate dipped strawberry was poison to the littlest member of the family? Hmmm??)
We made our way to the lobby to check in at Cape May for our dinner ADR. We were about 20 minutes early, but they were very busy and we waited about 40 minutes to be seated. Just outside the entrance to the restaurant was a television playing old Disney movies and a number of child-sized chairs. It was a nice touch. I think there were many children appreciating the time to “veg out.”

By the time we got seated, we were STARVING. We had not had a “real” meal since leaving home that morning. This may have made the food taste even better!
I also had to wait for the chef to come talk to me about food selections for Delaney (because of her dairy allergy). It was nice to have the restaurant experiences from the last trip to put my mind at ease about her meals. The Chef we talked with very incredibly sweet and accommodating. She made Delaney a plate of plain pasta and some meats and veggies to try. She also walked me around the buffet to identify anything that she could eat. This “Clam Bake” buffet offered many great choices for everyone. (I am right now thinking of Cam and her trip report...She said she always intended to take food pictures, but was always so hungry that it never occurred to her until the food was almost gone. We were better with food pics for the non-buffet restaurants, so if you are mostly interested in food reviews, stick with me a while longer and I will have more pictures).
Ben is allergic to seafood, but filled up on pizza, chicken legs and numerous returns to the dessert table. DD (5) was in heaven--she had about 4 plates of crab legs! Unfortunately, her inability to crack them herself meant that DH did more crab cracking for her than for himself.
They offered a great salad bar, the clam chowder was wonderful, and there were many fish selections. My favorites were the seafood pasta and the fish offerings. (I enjoyed the crab legs, but I was too hungry at the start of our meal to deal with it! So I went back for more pasta!). Ross loved the key lime pie offered as dessert--he had seconds and even grabbed a few on the way out of the restaurant.
I was looking forward to ordering an adult beverage here after the day of travel, but the cold I was fighting before our trip seemed to have escalated from the pressure changes from the plane. I was horribly stuffed up and had an excruciating headache. Beer would not have helped L
Overall; we REALLY enjoyed our meal here! However, when the check came, I was taken aback by the cost--it was over $150 for our family of 5. Not sure I would have been as excited about this meal if we were not on the DDP and I had a direct connection to how much was really paying for it! That said, it would be a must-do if we are ever on the DDP again!
We got back to our room about 9:30 and promptly got ready for bed. I think we were all sleeping by 10:30. The next day we would go to Epcot.
The clam bake sounds wonderful. They are a staple here on Cape. Love me some clams!!!
Nice to hear there was something for everyone to eat and enjoy! Sounds like a great meal, though I am sorry about your cold and resulting headache.
Hope tomorrow is better!
More please!
