♥ ♥ Lovey Dovey in Disney! -- Our PTR for Dec 2010 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Cheeseburger in Paradise - Menu - Sensuous Treats
This is a link to their menu with a picture of Chocolate Nachos yummmmm!! Plus here is a photo!! They don't look like much but we LOVE them!! The chips are sweet & it comes with ice cream...I love me some ice cream!!! I also have to keep my blood chocolate level fairly high to deal with life jk lol! But I do love chocolate!! And strawberries rock!!! All in all we just can't make a trip to Cheeseburgers in Paradise without ordering the chocolate nachos. They are big so it's a dessert to share. The closest one to us is an hour away so it's only a once in awhile treat for us...but a fun & tasty one!!
Oh my gracious... I would literally bathe in a sauce like that! ..Well, maybe not bathe in it. But nothing could stop me from drinking it!

Thanks for the suggestion, ilovejack72! Only problem we've had with that though is our pick-up location differs from our drop-off. We're landing and picking the rental up at JAX and dropping it off at the rental location near Disney World. -- Apparently they like to pack on a couple hundred dollars for that.

Thanks for giving everyone a heads up, Sweetiepie!
I dunno what it was! I woke up this morning. Checked to see if I could load the board and BAM! Here it is, working as if nothing was ever wrong in the first place. Gah, this weirdo computer I swear.
On a brighter note, I have Day 3 plans ready to post!!!
Are you ready?
...You sure?
...Are you posit- Okay, okay! Here goes!
Day 3 -- Dec. 8th
First on the list is breakfast, WOO! We have a breakfast ressie for 8:00 at AKL's Boma. I go absolutely bonkers for this place! So many different choices, both uniquely different and well known (and delicious ). No matter if you're a picky eater or love to try new things, you're bound to find something to love here. The juice especially (when I was here in 2008, they called it Jamba juice. I've heard it referred to as other things since. Did the name change?).
-- Also worth mentioning, though I can't remember the name specifically. It was a sort of casserole with biscuits ontop. It had curry in the mixture underneath. Outstanding stuff!
It's our Hollywood Studios day and I'm really looking forward to it! Can you believe I've been to the World (well, just once..but still!) and have never been to either Hollywood Studios OR MK? I know, it should be illegal or something. Well, at least.. after I make my way there of course!
H2b's favorite ride, he can't wait to get me on ToT. He says he's going to make me ride with him 498,279 times! ...Okay so maybe I'm exaggerating a little. But I have a feeling the ToT imagineers will know us by name by the time we're through, LOL!
Hmm, was just thinkin'. One of the last movies I saw in theaters was Inception, and...
SPOILERS:
I think maybe the Tower Of Terror could have played a really big part in the movie. You know, with the 'kick' being the feeling of falling? I'm not a huge fan of sequels, only on rare occasion but uh... Inception 2? Featuring ToT? Just sayin'!
Carrying on!
Some things DFH and I are bursting at the seams for:
Did you guys know that Disneyland has a cupcake store?! *sigh* Gosh, I love cupcakes.
a Turkey Leg from Toluca Legs Turkey Co. - Doug, though once I figure out how to approach it, I'm for sure gonna get my 'nom on too!
The American Idol Experience
Toy Story Mania! (I really need to see Toy Story 3!)
Fantasmic!
Rock n' Rollercoaster
Muppet Vision 3D -- A little side story (sorry, I know!). For our anniversary this year I purchased a box and filled it with all sorts of things that had some relation to Disney world. I found this at Barnes & Noble. He's a huge Muppet fan, especially of Kermit so it was perfect!
*ahem* Moving on.
We have a 1:00 lunch reservation at Sci Fi Dine-in Theater and let me tell you.. I'm STOKED about this place! Getting the chance to dine under the stars in a (possibly pink, just sayin' ) convertible in front of cheesy Sci fi horror flicks?? And the food looks really great for it's simplicity.
What's on the menu, you ask? Well since we lucked out with the Plus DxDP, we're going hog wild on the food! -- Cutestuff is going to have the (appetizer) Spinach and Artichoke Dip - A blend of Monterey Jack, Swiss, and Parmesan, Spinach, and Artichokes served with Corn Tortilla Chips(Hmm. Well, I s'pose I'll have some too ), (entree) the Italian Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Bruschetta topping served on a Kaiser Roll with French Fries, and the Orbiting Oreos - Oreo Shake mixed with Godiva Chocolate Liqueur.
I'll be having the Crispy Onion Rings (I hear they're the best on property, what do you guys think?), (entree) the Angus Chuck Burger - Flame-broiled Beef Patty topped with Cheddar or Swiss Cheese, Sautéed Onions, Mushrooms, and Crispy Bacon served with French Fries, and a Cherry Vanilla Coke (do they mix flavors like this?)!
Guess what we'll be doing later this evening? The Osbourne Family Spectacle Of Dancing Lights! The pictures of this event alone are absolutely astounding. I can't imagine what it'll be like once we're finally there!
We plan to finish the night off with dinner at Kona Cafe! Doug is getting the Kona Salad - Mixed Greens, Blue Cheese, fresh Fruit, Red Onions, and Smoked Almonds with Citrus Vinaigrette, (entree) The Shrimp and Scallops - Panko-breaded Shrimp and Pan-seared Scallops with Sticky Rice, Roasted Pepper Sauce, and spicy Passion Fruit-Orange-Guava Sauce, (dessert) the Kilauea Torte, and a Classic Mai Tai.
Now, I hear the sushi here is fantastic. I've never had sushi before so you better believe I'll be getting my first dose here. I wanna try the sampler for two that's on the Kona menu, but there's another sushi dish that comes from the bar (Shrimp tempura roll w/ Lilikoi sauce) that I really want to check out as well. Do I have to order it separately from Kona Cafe's menu or can I order it with the rest of my meal? I'd appreciate any answers! Also, I'm really interested in the Miso-glazed Mahi Mahi- served with Asian Noodles and Baby Bok Choy, (dessert) the Banana-Chocolate Creme Brulee and a Raspberry Mojito.
We're going to hang around the resort for the rest of the night. Maybe find some of those Hidden Mickeys in the book I posted a pic of earlier in my PTR! -- What do you guys like to do during your relaxation/down time (well, aside from the obvious )?

You'll love the lights!! It was one of the highlights of my holiday trip last year. I could have spent hours looking at all the lights and I must have taken a million pictures.

Wow, wonderful plans, yes, i'm just absolutely floored no MK. I've never been to DHS either and this will be my 4th trip but in actual fact my first trip doesn't count because it didn't exist! Just saying.
Can't wait for more!
Great plans! I loved eating at Sci-Fi. It was so much fun! Our favorite ride is Toy Story Mania, I hope y'all love it too.
Can't wait for the next set of plans.

LOL, it's true though! Dontcha just wanna bottle it up and use it as bubblebath?? *sigh* if only.
OH! That totally reminded me of this stuff Doug bought me for Christmas one year. It's scented bubblebath! He got me the cinnamon buns one and oh my goodness. It was amaaaaaziiiing. -- Since the topic at hand is chocolate, feast (hehe, see what I did there?) your eyes on this!

I'm so wreaking havoc (in a very Disney-ish fashion, of course) once I get to MK. I'm going to run to the castle and hug its lovely stone walls and I will say, "Ooooh Cinderella castle, I've dreamt of you for so long!" and then I will frolick away to the nearest concession to feast on 12 (maybe 13, it's undecided-will keep you posted) delicious Mickey bars.

I'm so excited to check them out with DFH! He's stoked about TSM, it's for sure going to be one of the very first things we do and something I can definitely see us coming back to several times!
