left with 2 good ones came back with one-trip report-forgot something 5/8 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

ok I just read this entire thing so far!
sorry you had all those negative run ins!! hope things get better
despite those few snafu's looks like a great time!
I was LOL'ing at the TL video too
Eggs Benedict is my favorite, but lobster Eggs Benny??! Sounds like heaven. But it is loaded with the heart clogging stuff (Hollandaise sauce is basically egg yolks and a stick of butter), which is why I usually only have it during Easter Brunch. You've convinced me to try 1900 PF for brunch. Sorry to hear about the bar-fly at WS. I probably would have said something not only to the manager, but to that woman as well. Anyone who bullys another person, for what? a drink? deserves what they have coming. But I am enjoying the pictures of Shelby. She's such a cutie. And I'm so looking forward to hearing about the parade. I'm excited for you!!
THe lobster eggs benedict were very different.. the eggs were a little more 'formed' than poached eggs but it made it even better.. the lobster was unreal how good it was.. it didn't overpower the dish. I believe the hollandaise was also a lighter sauce. It was really the best thing on the menu.. & that's saying a LOT considering how I LOVE my Strawberry soup.
THanks for the comments about Shelby// I think she's cute but i'm a bit biased..most of the pictures I took were of her. I think she was enjoying being an only child for once.
We got a spot on Main Street right in front of Caseys . Since we still had a little less than 2 hours to kill before the parade we decided to get some ice cream. Shelby & MIL got ice cream cones & I opted to get a Mickey Bar ( my first & only one of this trip~ for shame!)
spent the time chit chatting with other band parents.. One of my favorite band parents, Dave who I love & have such a great time with came over & said that due to the impending bad weather, the band was going to be coming from the castle instead of from the front of the park. I figured I was going to stay put because Brendan was on one side & Jamie on the other.
Dave also told me that he spoke to a Photopass photographer who said that we could go into Exposition hall & be able to see all of the photos they took of the band. I was SO happy that I bought the pre-order CD..I could put those photos on there.
I was standing there chit chatting when a familiar looking face is walking towards me.. It was Amy (Iamgrumpy) I was so glad to see her.. we hugged & sat & chatted until the parade started.. i'm sad I didn't get any pics of us together but I was so nervous about the parade I totally forgot, sorry, Amy.
Finally it was time.. We were the 3rd of 3 bands to perform that afternoon.. Finally the first band came into view & the nerves really started to hit.. Plus the weather was looking more & more ominous.. I was really worried what would happen if a downpour started..
Band 2 was done & my nerves were really starting .. It seemed like it took forever for our band to come into view.. finally I hear the sounds of "walking on Sunshine" They're coming..
I start to tear up thinking how exciting this is.. Ever since Jim & I reconciled the boys (especially Brendan) have been wanting both Jim & I to be there & it happened. I look over at Jim & he's videotaping the parade with his droid.. he has the so proud look on his face & I am so glad he is here for the boys!!
The band then starts playing "It's my life" as they get closer to us...
I try to take a picture & after just one my camera freezes...
Shelby got a few photos...
Jamie is the first "T" in Titan & Brendan is the "A"
and my favorite photopass photo..
Bren's friend also had a good photo..
look at that sky...
We did get a pretty good video.. it was only Jim's second time using the Droid so he did pretty good..
Look at the sea of blue & gold.. I found it funny.. the other 2 bands had nice applause but when our band came into view, there was screaming & cheering.
As soon as the band was done, the skies got super dark.. Amy had to go get her AP fixed so we said our goodbyes & I told her I would call her to meet the following day if I needed a ride partner on EE.
We were trying to decide what to do before our dinner at Crystal Palace when Shelby turned up missing.. Not again ( reminiscent of our 2008 trip) I look over & she's chatting with her friend ( her sister is in the band)
MIL wanted to do some shopping in the Emporium so we went in there & the skies opened up...WOW. I ran into my Aunt's neighbor & she & I talked about my Aunt. It was nice to hear the good things about her even tho it did make me cry. It's funny.. everyone I run into who knew my Aunt always asks "How's Honey" (Aunts beloved dog)
After chatting for a while & seeing MIL was done shopping we decided to go through the store & over to Exposition hall..
When I got in there another mom was in there & said that there were over 200 photos of the band but disney wouldn't allow them to get all of the photos.. they had to look through them all & get their children only ( copyright issues)
When I told her I had pre-ordered the CD for only $99 she went crazy & said she had never gotten the e-mail about it then went over to a CM & asked if she could get it.. I heard them telling her no & she wanted to speak to a manager .
When it was my turn in line, I jokingly said to the CM "I'll bet you've heard this a dozen times today but could I see the band performance photos?" she laughed & asked what band & brought up West Mifflin, she then clicked on all photos & handed me a new photopass card with ALL of the band photos on it!! Wow!! The pre-order was REALLY paying off. Will include the link to the photopass photos towards the end of the TR.
By this time it was pouring so we headed outside & was able to snag a seat on the bench & a rocking chair.. We decided to wait out the rain until our ADR for CP.
MIL gave Shelby a poncho..
The boys texted me & said that they were being held backstage until they saw what the weather did whether they were going to leave MK or stay..
It was funny to watch.. there would be waves of people leaving the park
then it would be clear, them more people leaving in a big bunch. The rain kept getting harder & harder.. we decided to make the best of it & just people watch..
It had eased up a little so we decided to head over to Crystal Palace .. went through the stores & made it to CP.,. we were seated within a couple of minutes which surprised me since there was a ton of people on the patio.
the video! I can see why you were worried about the weather--the sky looks very ominous. Glad the rain waited for the parade to end! Can't wait for more!

The Droid footage of the parade is awesome. The magic of Disney held off the deluge of rain until after the boys marched down Main Street. So happy for all of you! Looking forward to hearing all about lunch at CP. And, what is Shelby up to now?
Crystal Palace was EXTREMELY busy! very hard to go get around the tables. We ordered our drinks & then went up to get our food. My first stop was the salad area I love unusual salads but was disappointed CP didn't have the peanut noodles I so loved.. Even so, I had plenty to fill my plate.
We all came back & started eating & our waitress hadn't brought our drinks.. She happened by & asked if everything was okay & we said we didn't have our drinks. She was kinda flustered & said "Oh Oh, I'll get them" she left & another 5-10 minute wait & finally another waitress brought our drinks.
The rain had finally stopped so CP started to clear out very quickly. I guess a lot of people were lingering over dinner waiting out the rain.
I was going up to the buffet & I run into another band family.. The little sister goes to the school I used to work at. When I worked at the school Mary Rose was one of my favorite little girls,, when she started first grade she was having some 'missing mom' anxieties & when that happens I always tried to make them laugh or make them 'helpers'. Mary Rose took her helper job VERY seriously ..she became a narc in the lunchroom.. She is a sweet girl.
When Mary Rose saw me she jumped out of her seat & ran up to me giving me a hug & said "Mrs Smith, I miss you!!" I told her I missed her too & it was so good to see her. I spoke to her parents a while & told them to go to the Exposition hall to see the band photos.. Shelby came by at this time & Mary Rose left me to go hug Shelby.. Shelby was a patrol captain last year at the elementary school & all of the little ones loved her. They were done eating & getting ready to leave. They told me they were going back to Pittsburgh the next day. I wished them a safe trip & got some more hugs from Mary Rose.
When we got back to the table (after filling our plates again) the characters were coming around. For some reason I didnt get my camera out so all of the photos are from Shelby's camera
She saw Eyeore coming & ran up to give him a hug (hoe I wish I had a photo of this)
She was laughing at Eyeore
Pooh was teasing her about her wedding ears & imitating getting married.. This face is so Shelby!
They started to play the Pooh song.. I can't remember the name of it, we referred to it at the Pooh song.
not sure what this face is about but I had to include this photo for one reason.. the lady with the long hair seated behind Shelby...
After the song, Shelby broke into spontaneous clapping (alone)... The lady at the table behind us was eating but when Shelby started clapping she jumped up & started clapping too.. Shelby & I burst into fits of giggles.. no one else had been clapping & I guess the lady saw Shelby clap & had to join in.. It was a 'you had to be there' moment.
Shelbys drink was empty & our waitress came over & asked if she wanted a refill.. she did. well, we got dessert & ice cream. I had the yummy orange ice cream it was too creamy for sherbet . All the while Shelby still didn't get her drink.. Our waitress wasn't on top of things at all & we never got Shelbys drink.. Her tip was reflected in that. The meal itself was good but I think it being so busy in the beginning flustered our waitress.
It was still very rainy when we left CP & we all decided to leave MK. MIL was leaving the following day so she wanted to tell the boys goodbye. I texted them & they said they had just been left out of backstage & would meet us at the Emporium.
Ran into Brendans girlfriends parents & chatted with them for a while. It was funny to see so many people from home so far away from home.
Boys said goodbye to Grandma & then we headed back to POFQ. I didnt want to stay in the room because it looked like the rain had stopped so after getting spruced up in the room, we decided to go to DTD.. The boats weren't running.. the CM at the dock told us there was 4" of water from the storm & the boats couldn't get under the bridges..
We took the bus to DTD . Shelby bought some souvenirs for her friends back home & MIL bought some more stuff too. I did pretty good & didn't get anything. I was looking at the new disney cookbook but decided to not purchase it.
We also went into goofys candy & got some snacks for later & Shelby insisted on getting a sugar stick.. you know the straw tube you fill with colored sugar..
Around 10pm we were all tired & the rain was starting back up so we decided to call it a night. DME was picking MIL up at 9am so we decided we'd have breakfast at the food court, then see her off .
