Recruiting Fans for PassPorter Street Teams! - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I would love to spread the word in Maine. My first trip, as an adult, was 1998 when Animal Kingdom opened and as "hooked" as I was, we didn't get to go back until 2006, and 2007, and 2008, and TWICE in 2009!! I dream of becoming a travel agent specializing in Disney. I LOVE to get the passporters (when on sale) and give them to friends planning trips. I have helped DOZENS of friends and families plan Disney trips. I also already freelance as a merchandiser, so talking to book store managers and checking on your inventory would be my pleasure.
Thank you for the opportunity to continue to promote your excellent book, site and information. Tammy Jo LaCroix
I would love to give this a shot . I live on Long Island , NY and even before you thought this up . I do this i try to tell everyone that talks to me at work about disney and PP wheather it is a customer driving thru or a co-worker . I started reading PP in 2005, and bought the book ever since . I'm a DVC owner at BWV for 10 years and have been going to WDW for 11 , we even have our first cruise planned on the new ship the Dream. In May 2008 I joined the boards and never looked back . I would love to have a shot at trying to being one of your street team members here and really have a chance to push the PP community more .
Oh my, I would love to help out by doing these things for passporter. I found the passporter very useful and would continue to use the passporter everytime going to dinsey! The only thing besides my family that was important on our trips was the PassPorter! It makes thing so much easier th remember because you put everything in the book and carry that around including restaurant reservations!
which helped us out big time in 2008 at disney we were booked for one of the restaurants and they had us for the wrong day, WELL I opened up my passporter and showed all our reservations for our stay and they were very accommidating and fixed the problem right away!
I would love to be part of the Street Team for PassPorter. I`m currently planning my visit and have found my copy of PassPorter to be of tremendous help. I actually just ordered the new version so I can donate my 2009 copy to my local library. I`ve also told friends who are planning trips to order the book.
I think this would be a fun thing to do and I know first hand how much a Street Team can be a benefit on getting the word out as I`ve been a member of my favorite bands for over 9 yrs now.
I think putting the word around is a great idea. I don't think there is a great deal of publication about Passporter in the UK and while I won't force it on those I meet, I will go out of my way to post cards, speak to business owners and even try and persuade those loving travel agencies to further dish out the word - kind of like a chain event.
I live in a small community/village not too far from the town centre but also within distance of many other small villages where I can pass on some important information about this group.
A couple of years ago, I struggled to find the best passporter book in one of the larger shopping stores here in the South East and anything to help boost their knowledge and even guide them in the publishing of passporter publications, current and upcoming will be useful for many WDW traveller/fans.
Thanks again for the great info supplied throughout the year.

I really do love Passporter. My Mom (koalamom) and I always tell our friends about Passporter when they mention Florida at all. If my friends even mention traveling anywhere, the first thing I mention is Passporter. The local Barnes and Noble carries it, and most of the times I go there, I do turn it facing out!
I would love to be part of the "Street Team"! I go to a local university and feel like I can really be spreading the good Passporter word more often. I have several friends getting married, I'll be mentioning WDW (and thus Passporter) to them. I make new friends in my different classes every semester, and I can only hope to get them as hooked on Passporter as I am.
So in short, I would love to be on the "Street Team" for Passporter! I'll be wearing my Passporter pin too.

Hello,
I would love to assist PassPorter's with this!
I live in Columbus, Ohio & my mother lives in Cleveland, Ohio & we are both such huge fans of all the PassPorter books that we would do everything we could to get your wonderful media in the hands of other Mouse Lovers!
I have already given out simple cards I made up with your website & some of the other sites listed that we use to plan our adventures & have longed for a more professional way to spread the word about these great resourses, so even if we are not chosen I really hope you will make some of the items available to fans so we can help in our own humble ways!
That being said, I really would love to be chosen! Both my mother & I are very active within many clubs & organizations in our hometowns, and we both love to talk to people about your great books & helpful organizers. Even when they don't want to listen! Just kidding!
Thanks for all your great resources, and keep up the terrific work!
I would love to do this - as I do it all the time anyway!
I would love to volunteer - ever since I became a Passporter member, Passporter is the #1 site I send my friends to when they look to me for Disney info. I have bought almost every edition of Passporter either directly through PP or in a bookstore. ( when I didn't have the patient to wait and just couldn't resist!) I live in Central Massachusetts (Worcester) and also spend a lot of time down the Cape in the summer, so I have two locations I could help.
I would also LOVE to do this! I ADORE Pass Porter. When I learn friends are planning a trip to Disney, I IMMEDIATELY suggest they pick up a copy of PassPorter. I even let them look at mine to sell them on it. I LOVE the ease of use and all the thought put in to the design. Being a scrapbooker I love the envelopes to hold receipts and such, and the ability to personalize it as we go. It goes with me all the time! Please consider me for your street team!

Hi Jennifer- Please consider me to be a Midwest representative for the "PassPorter Street Teams".
As a person with a recent disability( I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a year and a half ago), I have used my PassPorter books in two ways. First, as my Disney bible when my two kids were younger and we needed to plan moving efficiently thru the parks. And now second as a goto guide to help navigate the parks in a wheelchair. It always amazes me whenever someone would see my PassPorter(which was a daily occurrence) and ask me where I purchased it, just how many people came unprepared for the Disney experience. All of my family and friends, and even friends of friends call on my experience when they are planning their Disney vacations. The first thing I tell them after they make their initial reservation is to purchase a PassPorter and to read it cover to cover. Usually thats all it takes to answer any Disney question.
I would be proud and honored if I was chosen as an official member of the PassPorter Street Team. You see for years, I already thought of myself as an unofficial member of the PassPorter team. And I would be willing to shout it from every rooftop just how vital the PassPorter is in planning a wonderful vacation. Your website has made it fun and easy to learn all there is to know about having the best Disney experience one can have.
Suzieqk from New Berlin, WI
I would love to be a PassPorter volunteer for Greensboro, NC. I love reading your books and they have helped me learn more about Disney as well as help me plan vacations. I just discovered PassPorter last year, but I think it is great for a person just learning about how to plan a trip to any Disney park. I passed on my last year's edition to a friend who was planning her first trip to Disney World. She told me this book helped her by not going into to much detail and giving points on which rides her children might enjoy. Other books can be overwhelming, but PassPorter gives the right about of criticism and detail to help newbies and pros feel comfortable planning a Disney vacation.
Since I work in a bookstore, it will be easy for me to face out your books as well as encourage management to order more PassPorter books. I plan on donating my old versions of books to libraries where others can enjoy your books as much as I have.
Hi,
This sounds like a great idea, and I would love to participate!
I first became a Passporter fan after reading your Disney Cruise guide for our Disney land/sea trip. The book was soooo helpful. I really appreciated all the detail that was provided. It spelled everything out- from pre-planning all the way to what tips should be left at the end. I am a super planner, and read the books over and over in anticipation for each trip. Like many who read your books, I am the "disney person", the friend that is called whenever someone is planning for Disney. I love to help people with the insider tips that I have discovered along the way!
I am already involved in a number of local groups and would have plenty of oppurtunity to spread the news for Passporter.
Hi Jennifer, I would be happy to volunteer to be a part of the Street team. I think your book is one of the best for newbies or even more experienced Disney travelers. I am terrible on the social media efforts (no facebook acct, only read my hotmail messages every few days), but I would be willing to go to my local bookstores to ask for your books. Post at local community bulletin boards and the library. I have loaned my most recent version of your WDW planner - three times in 2009 and two of the families went to your website and ordered!
I live in an Illinois suburb just east of St. Louis, Missouri - called Edwardsville. I have been lucky enough to visit WDW 9 different times since 1990. Although I am no-where near the Disney fanatic of some, I do have a Mickey Mouse themed office and I "lurk" on some Disney themed website spaces when I need to get a quick Disney fix.
