A Marriage proposal with a little help from Cinderella -Updated with Photopass pictures on 4/19 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry there were no new updates this weekend! It was a busy few days!
I know you all know how sweet Brent is already but another detail here I wanted to add about how we started the trip. The first night we got there he gave me a handmade (yes, my man can even sew!!!!!!) pillow case with TinkerBelle on it!!!!!!! Not that I have to brag him up anymore, he is just amazing, but I was just soooo touched by the thought of this! Can you all believe that?
Thanks, Smilechaser. That pillowcase was actually a ruse to kind of throw you off the hunt, as it were. I had hinted around to Smilechaser that I did have a surprise in store for her during our weekend. While it was obviously my proposal, I gave her the pillow case the night we arrived at Pop. Sooo she's thinking that was the surprise, and it was all over with, which made the proposal with Cinderella that much more of a surprise. It worked!
Anyway, on with the trip report! Caught the bus back to Pop and had lunch at the food court. Cheeseburger for me! I ordered a beer from the Petals Bar and Smilechaser ordered some concoction I forgot the name of. All I know is the bartender grabbed at least 4 bottles, (two of which I did not readily recognize.) I was thinking this was a bad idea but Smilechaser assured me all was well. Hmmmm aaaalllllriight. We walked around the grounds a bit finishing our drinks (or TRYING to finish our drink in the case of Smilechaser). Then back to our room to change into suits and a dip in the computer pool. Once Smilechaser managed to (finally) negotiate the stairwell going down to the pool we had a nice swim. (Well, I had a nice swim. She just kind of walked around in the water.) Anyway after we were sufficiently refreshed and revived (or in Smilecaser's case - sobered up. What was name of that drink anyway, Smilechaser?) we changed and headed back to MK. Got there near dusk and I put my plan into action. I knew we had to be on the bridge to Tomorrowland for Fireworks so I steered us to the Laugh Floor. Here is a picture of the castle at Dusk:
Enjoyed the show, it was different this time, Then went on The TTT. Love this ride. It's relaxing and a people watcher's dream come true. After that we went into the Carousel of Progress. Another one of those rides we never seemed to do with kids in tow. I really enjoyed it. Better than I expected. It was nearing 8:00 now so I got us a coke and headed for the Tomorrowland Bridge to watch Wishes. Now somehow, Smilechaser had never seen the fireworks from this vantage point so she did not know Tink flew from the Castle and right over head from this vantage point. So I said something like : Wishes is starting: make your wish! Then Tink jumped from the castle and floated right over us waving her wand all around. Smilechaser was astonished. " How did you pull that one off?" she questioned. I just smiled and said something, like "Cinderella owed me a favor!" Wishes was fantastic just standing there on the bridge, holding hands. Good memories! After fireworks we headed back to Tomorrowland to avoid the massive throngs of people that always bolt for the exits after Wishes. Scary! We took the little path that runs along the train tracks from Tomorrowland to Toontown. Smilechaser never knew this was back here either. Very romantic little walk, and we had the whole path to ourselves, it seemed. Once in Toontown I remembered I didn't tag the Princesses earlier per the fairies instructions! Hmmm if the line is not too long we must not neglect to do that! The line to see the Princesses wasn't long at all. Cool! We got in line and the sweetest little girl was behind us, all dressed up in her Belle gown and hair freshly done up from the BBB. She was precious, and very well spoken for her age. I don't know what it was but we met some of the best young children on this trip. Really gives you hope for the future y'know? All the wait she talked to us about Belle. Smilechaser asked her if she had something for Bell to sign. She said no and looked forlorn. Smilechaser suggested the girls sash from BBB. Her eyes lit up! I then took it a step further and said, they have black sharpies up there to sign it with, but I've got a red one and a green one in my Bag (yes I carry a Bagellini - man purse- and am not ashamed! Love the thing!) if you want ot borrow it. The girl gleefully accepted my red sharpie and was beaming from ear to ear. You know what? Little things like that really make a trip to Disney special for me. So we got up to see the Princesses. Aurora was first. Very pretty and friendly as always:
Thought about playing tag but Cinderella was right next door! Couldn't have her see me do that to Aurora and have her get jealous now can we? I held back till we got up to see Cinderella. Cinderella was as elegant and charming as ever. We get up to see her and I'm shaking in my boots errr crocs again, but I ask her if she knows Tinkerbell. She replied yes, she flies around my castle all the time. Well She says you play tag a lot and she asked me to do this - I tag her, very gently, and say Tag!. Tink says when she plays that with you she is too small for you to feel it. Cinderella says " Oohh that Tink!" Hmmmm... it just occured to me I forgot to say "No tag backs!" Ah well.
It is here that Smilechaser did something I thought was really neat. She looked straight at Cinderella and said something like "I just want you to know my fiance' here worships the ground you walk on, and even needed your help to propose to me!" Then the photographer said. "Well we need to get a picture of the two of them, don't we?" I looked a bit confused. (Which doesn't happen often!) Smilechaser had arranged for Me and Cinderella to have our picture taken just the two of us! Has she finally come around and accepted my Cinderella issues? Yay! So here it is:
I really love this picture. The photopass one is even better. We'll post it when we get the CD, but this picture is pretty special to me because Smilechaser made it happen. Thanks, Hun!
Next up was Belle, but I couldn't really care less what happened next, I was feeling pretty great, and not a little choked up! Belle did talk to Smilechaser a bit about me, something about hoping her Beast is easier to train than hers was? How was that, Smilechaser?
Then Belle bid us adieu and gave Smilechaser a kiss on the cheek. How sweet! Then we gave Belle a heads up that the little girl behind us has been gushing about her the whole line, and she assured us the little girl would get some extra attention. We hung around to watch and Belle got down on the floor with the little girl, and gave her a huge hug and spent some extra time with her. It's just so great to make someone else's trip a bit more special like that, isn't it?
Well after retrieving my red marker and wishing the sweet little girl a good night we made our way out ot EMH. Evening xtra magic at the MK is great! The atmosphere is sooo different. We did Splash Mountain, and Smilechaser should probably have had her Poncho! I had never ridden that in the dark and it was totally different. Same with Big Thunder. Great rides at night. Jungle Cruise was also a lot better at night. Did the Magic Carpets and Pirates since we were right there. Then the night parade started. It was great! I am convinced Ariel blew me a kiss as she went by on her float and Cinderella waved at me. Or was that the other way around? Seriously I think they both did. After all I am reasonably certain I was the only 41-year old man in my general vicinity who was waving and hollering at them as they went by. I am so glad Smilechaser accepts me for what I am. Many women would find such behavior a bit alarming!
On our way out we lingered in the castle looking at the gorgeous stained glass murals. Those are so pretty! Then we said Goodbye to the Magic Kingdom and headed for the bus as it was after midnight. Rode the bus back to Pop and made our way to our room. Another VERY special day. Thanks Smilechaser for making it so special.
I'm sure I've forgotten many things. I'll try to post a wrap-up in another few days! I hope you all enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it and reliving our very special long weekend trip!
