The Trip that Almost had No Memories! Nov. at WL! - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We woke up as early as possible and were greeted with the news that Stitch was up to much mischief at the parks. We got ready, ate quickly and headed out. Again not quite at rope drop but got there about 9:15, our best time yet!
As we ventured into the park, we stopped to take some pictures with Photopass outside the gate to MK, where the big red Mickey head shape was growing in the flowerbed. I had told my husband that we had pre-ordered the Photopass cd and by God we were going to have some pictures to put on it!! We stopped for more pictures along the way in front of the castle. As if I hadn’t realized my best laid touring plans got thrown out in the previous parks, I really realized it today . I learned it’s best to have a general idea what needs to be accomplished first as it will be a longer wait later in the day and to use the Fast Pass system to the best of our ability! I knew that since we knocked Dumbo out of the way the other night, we didn’t have to head straight there (she did want to go again though….) so we needed to either do Winnie the Pooh or Peter Pan’s ride.
Somehow when we looked up, we didn’t see Pooh but did see Peter Pan so we got in line. Unbelievably this line had already stacked up but we got in anyway. I knew we were real close to Pooh so I left the line to find a bathroom and get FPs for Pooh. When I put our KTTW cards in to get the FPs, I overheard the guy working there telling another person that sometimes, usually about now, the machines will spit out a surprise FP. As mine came out, he exclaimed with excitement that he knew it had been time and I had gotten the first surprise FPs of the day (to Mickey’s Philharmagic)! Wow, our first magical moment of the day! I was so excited to run back and tell the others this, that in my haste, I left my KTTW card on the machine . As I was walking rapidly away, I heard someone calling my name and I turned to look and it was the Fastpass CM waving my card. I thanked him profusely for catching me and saving my day and headed back to my party still waiting in line at Peter Pan. I promise this was the only time I left a line to go get FPs the entire trip!
We loved Peter Pan and as we were getting off, I saw the Frosted Blueberries (Dream Team) just outside the exit. I was trying to appear calm and clueless but my insides were jumping up and down screaming yes !!! They were passing out dream Fast Passes for the day and I couldn’t believe it! We got a dream ! I knew they existed and certainly had been keeping my eye out for the Dream Team but knew the prizes were elusive and our chances of getting one was slim. But a girl can still dream, right ?
Kylie didn’t fully understand what was going on but DH did. I had told him just enough to help me keep a look out for the Dream Team without him pinning his hopes on one actually happening. I didn’t tell Kylie at all because I didn’t want her to expect something to happen and be let down (I didn’t tell her about towel animals either for the same reason, but the cats out of the bag on that one and I’m sure she’ll be looking for them the next time we’re at WDW ). I was jumping up and down like someone handed me a million dollars and trying to take pics at the same time. One of the Dream Team guys offered to take our picture together with the other “blueberry” holding our dream Fastpasses. Yeah! I also took a close up of our Dream Fast Pass.
We left and headed to It’s a Small World next. While in line, we tried to contain our excitement and giggles and explained to Kylie what exactly this meant. I don’t know if she ever really understood the Fast Pass system but she does know that we never had to wait very long for rides and that day, we were able to accomplish seeing everything we wanted to see/do (minus a few things we did during MVMCP) except: Country Bear Jamboree, Aladdin’s Carpet ride, Snow White’s Scary Adventures, Goofy’s Barnstormer (what a wait and no FP) and have a Dole Whip (it was just too cold).

WOW! What a great day so far! A magical CM predicts your FP to MP & tracks you down to give you back your KTTW card AND then you get Dream FPs!! Awesome! Can't wait to hear what happens next

Hey - getting caught up on your TR! Sounds like things are looking up! We saw the Dream squad at MK too - the day before Thanksgiving! We got the dream ears on the Aladdin ride. DH was hoping all week to get the dream fastpass! By the looks of your TR we followed each other around during this trip. We both stayed at WL, we went to Epcot on Sat, AK on Sun. We were probably at the same Lion King show!
Then, I saw in your signature that you have a trip planned for 6/18 - 6/25 at POFQ - SO DO I! I have planned a trip with my mom, sister and son for 6/19 - 6/26 at POFQ. However, this trip may get cancelled due to Asia's (my 5 yr. old sister) preschool graduation probably happening during that week (my mom said she'll find out in March) and I also just reserved another trip with DH and DS for Sept 24 - 29th!
Looking forward to reading more!

We headed to the mountains after that to ride Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. Since we had our new Dream Fast Pass, we didn’t have to wait! Oh, the thrill and specialness of it all…..! We went ahead and secured another set of FPs for Big Thunder Mountain and went on. This was the first big roller coaster ride for Kylie and I wasn’t sure how she would do. Stupid momma to doubt her newly discovered thrill seeking, brave child! There were a couple of foreign girls in their 20s seated behind us on the train who screamed the entire ride. Kylie deduced that this must be what you are supposed to do on roller coasters so she started her little girl, high pitched screaming right along with the big girls behind us. DH and I were cracking up ! Later Kylie would exclaim how those big girls were scared and screaming on that ride and she wasn’t scared at all! She still tells the story about the big girls screaming on that ride and how you go up and down and around. You should see her expressions when she tells about it, so animated , it makes me chuckle every time. She gets this little light of excitement in her eyes telling of the different thrill rides at Disney….it’s so cute!
From there we went to Splash Mountain. The theming in there is just incredible. I took lots of pictures. The sign hanging during the cue was one of my favorites (I also took a pic of it), “You can’t run away from your troubles, Ain’t no place that far”.
I knew that we needed to sit in the back of a log to minimize getting wet so we asked the CM for that and had no trouble getting our request. There’s so much to take in on that ride and I really wanted a ride photo from it. Kylie wasn’t thrilled about the big drop at the end, but she liked it well enough to go again later. Our picture didn’t turn out good so we vowed to plan it better and have Kylie sit up right before the drop or something next time so we could see her too.
We decided to go to Pirates of the Caribbean (POTC) next. After a short wait, we were on our ship. I loved all the pop-up Jack Sparrows in this ride! Then as we left, we went to ride the Jungle Cruise. With all the stationary animals, I was able to get a lot of good pictures during this ride.
We had trouble finding our stroller as we exited and as I sent DH to find it, I saw a Photopass photographer having a kid hold a sword up outside POTC and taking pics of it. Most people kept walking by because I’m sure they didn’t know what he was doing. But I did…..I had read about the “magic” shots where they later add something to your picture and I knew this must be the one where they add Capt. Hook in. So I rushed right up and asked if he could take our picture. He placed Kylie with the sword just right and had me stand behind her and act surprised/scared . Pal Mickey was also in this picture. It turned out really cute. DH returned about that time and was wondering why on earth Kylie was holding that sword up with me looking scared behind her, LOL! I explained the various “magic” shots you can get and that this was one of them.
By now we were hungry and went to try out Pecos Bill’s that was famous for their “fixins’” bar. Once we figured out that you could line up on both sides of the register we got right along fine. We loaded up our “fixins” and gave Kylie a pile of mushrooms, which ended up being the bulk of her meal, and headed out to find a table. Now I start to understand the heated debates about saving tables that take place on the discussion boards. We could have eaten our food and been done in the time that it took for someone to sit there guarding tables to wait for their party to join them . This was very aggravating to us wondering around looking for anyplace to sit, carrying our loaded down trays of food. Finally we stalked out a table that looked like they were finished and we waited for them to clear out so we could sit down. Okay, all is well again. The food was fair, but the carrot cake was the best of that meal.

funny how she knew they were teens that mean 4 years can read people prety good even though she hasn't grabs that they were just doing for the fun or maybe she did. Yes she is a brave one. My little cousin (who is also 4) would of just rather sit on my lap and ride what I could ride lol.
