Are We There Yeti? **Updated 9/12** - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The countdown is very creative I would have to say. Each day he takes a Mickey off I think he must put another sticker on it.

As for the updates I just didn't want you to be bored so help to help bide the time I through in a few updats. J/K.
For some reason I thought you were going to be there a few more days than us. I have had so much fun making the bookmarks I just might find time to whip out a couple of more. Just for you!
For some reason instead of my checklist getting smaller some days it is back to its original starting point. How can that be? You may not want to keep that close of tab on me.

I am hoping with them being laminated that it won't be to cumbersome for the CM's. My DH did a good job laminating them for me. Thanks honey!

Thanks Maria. I can't take credit for the designer but my designer did a great job I do have to say. I only made one minor change by writing Challenge at the top instead of Marathon.

Thank you. I had some help from other individuals who are very talented themselves.

They have been the greatest. You would think my DH who is running with me would be my motivator. But nope I have to found some great ladies to help cheer me on. Thanks Ladies! Glad you like the calendar and bookmarks.

I would have liked to be there on my birthday but unfortunately we come back the day before! We could only do the 6 days there because of my traveling partner's schedule. She cannot take that much time off work. but to be honest last time i only had four full days there!!!! this time we have 6!!!!! so i can't complain*L* but we are flying out at 245pm on tues the 30th....
I know what you mean about the checklist...just when i think i'm getting to done i forget that i i have one more thing to do*L*
Exactly a week from today I will be lying in the hotel bed trying to sleep. But we all know that isn't going to be an easy feat. Who can sleep when they know in less than 12 hours they will be in WDW?
The last few days I have been trying to get myself organized and start to prepare to pack. I have crossed several things off my list. Mail hold is placed, Photopass CD ordered, got Disney Dollars for DS, printed off my registration for Expedition Everest and the final race instructions. I got my haircut yesterday so I won't look to scraggly for the pictures just probably any race pictures we have. I went to Target and got the snack items except I forgot DH granola bars but if I don't make it back he said he would make do. I made a few more book marks and want to make a few more. So I will need to make one more trip to Kinko's before we leave. I guess if I can squeeze in another trip to Kinko's I can squeeze in another trip to get DH granola bars too.
I went to make our t shirts and realized we needed ink in the printer. So sent DH to do that. Then forgot to click off mirror image when I printed the sheets. Didn't even think about it till I realized it when I was ironing on to my second shirt. So I reprinted them out double checking that I took off the mirror image(since we are dark colored shirt) and tonight went and bought 2 more shirts. Oh well now I have 2 new night shirts out of the project.
After reading I think in DawnDenise mousefest trip report I learned about the ParkSleepFly program. I am very excited about this program because it means we get to sleep in another whole hour and we don't have to have someone drive us to the airport or pay for airport parking. We will be staying at the Wyndham hotel near DFW.
Training for the 5K has been going well for us. My DH made me a Playlist for me to run to during the race. Not sure what he plans on listening to. We have received a few sample clues for our scavenger part of the race. I have gotten 2 of the 3. So hopefully we will be okay on this one. The obstacle course might be a challenge if it requires any sort of upper body strength.
I think I am done with all the odds and ends for now. Still trying to get the Peter Pan dagger that they show goes with the costume. I have seen it online but I am to cheap to pay for the S/H for a $9 toy. I keep hoping it will show up in the Disney Store but they aren't even sure if they are going to get it. I have made a few stops there to keep checking.
I still need to get together with my friend who is going to turtle sit for us. Plus my DH needs to clean the tank before our trip. He is dragging his feet about doing that. But I think that covers us for the odds and ends.
I work M-Th next week. Friday I am going to have DH take DS to daycare that morning for me since I have my last meeting with the personal trainer at 0630. Then I have a massage, manicure and pedicure scheduled at 9am. Then DH won a free lunch for two that he set up for us at 1130. Then I will go home finish all the last minute packing before I pick DS up from daycare at 2:30. Hopefully DH will get out of work by 4 so we can be at the Wyndham by 5 and miss some of the rush hour traffic.
I guess that is about all I know. We are waiting to see what kind of weather Hurrican Ike brings us sometime early morning and through the rest of the weekend.
