The Light at the end of the tunnel to the Caribbean Beat Trip Report Sept 18 to Sept 29 - **Updated 3/31** COMPLETE!! - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We decided to sleep in a bit before we went to EPCOT today. By the time we were ready & headed to the parks it was about 10:00am. We went through security & for some reason this always seems to feel like you are under integration. We were on our way to Soaring & trying to figure out were we needed to go to send our family a postcard from figment after we b/c we went sure that it was with Figment or not. A nice cast member asks if he could help so no problem. After a 15 min conversation, he was extremely nice but every time we go to walk away he would start to talk about something else. We did find out where he likes to eat for Anniversaries, Birthdays, & Special Events. Off to Soaring for us we walk up & got a fast pass for it, headed to living with land boat ride this was a first for us & we enjoyed it. We had a little while so we decided to head over to Figment. We tried to send postcards to our families turned out it didn't work. We had our picture taken with castle background to bring home. On our way to Soaring we saw Figment, got a picture with him,
took some pictures of fountains, then headed to Soaring. We love this ride it is one of our favorites. So we headed towards Nemo & Friends to catch the new Clamboats. It was cute don't know if I would do it again. We were excited for Turtle Talk & haven't been there for two years. First we couldn't tell where it was located my brother had to ask if we were in the right place. Second, I think it was much better the first time, there was better interaction with the kid then there was this time. Third, I know it seems like I am picky but I just want to point out what I noticed, it didn't seem as long. On to something else, decided to hit Club Cool I am a Coca Cola Collector so this always a stop. We wanted to go into Mouse Gears & my dad went to check on FP for Test Track (which was not good times so we passed that up), Mission Space was only 20 min wait. He came back to tell us & finish off our shopping having it sent back to our room (best perk that Disney could have).
We got in line for Mission Space pretty much just walk through queue area to the next available. We watched the lovely film about our position then waited. All the sudden our backdoor open & we were told to follow them to another line. So we got to watch the film yet again. We were figuring that it was a protein spill. By this time we decided that we should head over to the World Showcase. The plan was for everyone to get lunch where they wanted to & meet a picnic table so that we could all eat together. My brother & I wanted Mexican. My parents wanted American food well that wasn't going to work. So we started in Mexico, rode the boat ride, & looked around a little bit. We were all starting to get cranky from not having anything to eat & being tired. My mom & I were so tried that we didn't even care to look around in shops for stuff. I think it was this day was everything seemed to catch up. All the walking the last couple of days were starting to catch up along with being out late the night before. It was after 1am before we had got back to our hotel (which when we our on vacation we call home) so we were just exhausted. We headed to Germany to have some their famous pretzel. We got the last 4 & they had been sitting for awhile but we were so hungry we didn't care. We sat a picnic table behind the pretzel cart eat out pretzel & had a bottle of water. This is when I met Pam aka (pamcarey); she came up to us while we were sitting there & like I said before I am extremely shy. Thank god my mom was there b/c she took over. If anyone decides to come up to me please don't think that I am rude b/c I don't talk a lot I am just shy. After that we took some of pictures before traveling around the world. We were so tried from MNSSHP the night before & all the walk that we didn't even feel like looking around in the shops I know what a shocker with shopalcholics like us. At Morocco my mom & I got Hemp Tattoos which was cool. They didn't last very long but I think that was b/c we got them too early in the week. We continue around the world. We did make a stop at France so that I could get some pastries. I had got a bought a Chocolate Croissant for breakfast the next morning. It was all so good. We headed towards Canada for our ADR at Le Cellier. The sky was once again getting dark so we decided to check-in 15 mins early & sit inside just incase it decided to rain. We were seated shortly after our ADR & had a wonderful meal. This is one of our favorites & still is. My mom is a huge steak lover so this is right up her alley & my dad loves the chocolate cake. So we all got it to go so that he could have it for breakfast the next couple of mornings. While we were waiting for our bill we saw these people coming in dripping wet or no we are going to get wet again. We walk outside to very light mist & the ground soaking wet. Shortly after it had completely stopped we walk over towards the future entrance trying to find a spot to watch Illuminations. The rain had really cleared it out & they found a spot on the bridge. I walked up towards Mexico for a Margarita & noticed it was almost empty up there. So I went back & got my mom to see what she thought. We ended up standing in front of the Margarita stand to watch Illuminations it had a better view from there. After that we walk over to Mouse Gears to browse while we waited for the lines to the busses to die down & headed back to the CBR.
Coming up next: Another relaxing day & we didn't meet the dream team but we did have a magical moment.

Sounds like a great day, even though things were starting to catch up with you! the photos...especially this one...it looks like you and your brother are very close!
I wanted to thank everyone who has read my trip report. It gives me the courage to continue to write on my report. On a personal note though- the restaurant I work for was sold before for we went on vacation. Okay, so here is the confusing part the new owner's live about a hour away. They have been in once since they bought it they were nice but really didn't even talk to us. A week later I come into work to find that they have placed a auction sign for Dec 6th. Currently, the old owner is renting the restaurant from the new owners. He had told us that it was in his name until the end of Feb. When this sign went up he was mad. So I am no sure what is going to happen to my job. I have been applying to other location but haven't heard anything. I keep hoping that the people who buy it will continue to let me boss rent it. It just awful time right before the holidays. Another restaurant down the street had their property sold and closed their doors on Tues night. Part of the problem with ours is that it also a golf course, so there is lots of acres with the sale. I hope that someone would like to fix up the restaurant & run it. I am afraid someone might want to buy it for condo's. Pixie dust please for something good to happen for me one way or the other. I will keep you posted.
Today we were thinking about going to MK all day since we got rained out on Wednesday. When we got up we decided that we would just hang out at the hotel that morning. My dad & brother wanted to rent the sea raycers. My mom thought about those too, and then we thought that we would rent a surrey bike instead. We decided that we would walk around, I showed my mom some of the quiet spots of Caribbean Cay, and we took pictures of my dad & Shayne on the sea raycers.
Shayne taking off
My dad zoom around
My mom took some pictures of the scenery.
We then went into the OPR to look around I was making a mental note of all the things that I wanted to buy at the World of Disney. We are on the AAA package so we have a discount card that could be used there. So most of my souvenirs came from there. When we came outside to find a table I saw my dad & brother playing some pool down by the marina. It was hot today so we decided that we would eat inside OPR for lunch. After that we went to our room to rest, change & get ready for dinner at Kona Cafe. We wanted to go a little bit early so that we could check out this hotel b/c we had thought about staying there with the bounceback program. We left the hotel about 4:15 to MK so that we could catch the monorail. We were planning on doing EMH at the MK that evening. We arrived at the Poly we had about 25 mins before our ADR time so we checked out the lobby, walked around inside, & checked out the food court. We looked around the BouTIKI. We went up to check in for at Kona & we waited about 20 mins or so before we were seated.
We had a wonderful dinner the food was great. After we went down to check out the grounds & different buildings. I got a map of the resort & we walked around. We were down by the quiet pool when my mom needed to use the restroom so she told us to continue to look around. So we looked at some of the buildings & walked around the theme pool. My dad was using the video camera to capture some of the scenery. We started to heading back & I was waiting for my dad because he was still video taping. I saw my mom exercising her lungs & talking to an older couple who just check-in who had never been to WDW. We were standing there waiting for my dad to make his way up when all of a sudden this lady comes up & ask us if we wanted to go on a Wishes cruise. We had about 10 mins to get there. We were all excited we found my dad on the way to the boat. The older couple & my family were on our way to the Wishes. What happened was someone booked the cruise & didn't show up for it. On the way we were offered snacks & I just had dinner a Kona but I did take a bottle of water. We watch Wishes it did not have the music piped in but the boat next to us did so we could still hear it. My dad was wondering about looking into this for next year it was something that he wanted to do. So there was one thing off our list for next year. I was so happy I could not stop smiling. We did give the lady a nice tip when we got back. So we didn't have the dream team but we did have a magical moment for sure. After we got back to POLY we caught the monorail & went to MK for the last hour & half of extra hours. My mom wanted to get the donald duck hat for my brother that was at home. We rode Small World & walked thru some stores. It was a perfect day for everyone.
UP Next: Riding water roller coaster & some night life.
