Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I just read your entire TR so far and am really enjoying it Tina! Jalen looked so handsome in his white shirt and tie for dinner. The bike path looks beautiful over at the FW - I might consider doing that one of these trips. You two seem to be having a magical time together - can't wait for more. Great report, Tina! Love the pictures and your new sig picture. We had such fun at The Great Movie Ride and it was wonderful meeting y'all. Sorry we had to miss the Illumination meet, but Carly wasn't feeling well and we were all worn out.

Re: Special mom/son vacation in the World - May 29-June 3 ~ update 6/15

Friday June 2

We actually got up early again and made it to MGM early entry. It was really cool upon entering - there were Star Wars characters on the roofs of the buildings. People were stopping and watching and taking pictures and they were yelling 'Keep moving. Let's go' It was pretty neat.

We entered and went right down to ToT. The wait was posted at 13 minutes, so we got in line and it went pretty quickly as there were no fastpass people entering at that time. We got on and our car was moving along the track to the drop area when all of a sudden Jalen started crying and holding on to me saying he was scared Last year we rode this several times and he even declared it is favorite ride! Of course, after we were done dropping, he said he liked it. But when I asked if he wanted to go on again, he said no.

Oh, well. Over to Rock n' Roller Coaster where the wait was posted as 20 minuetes. That was pretty accurate, too. A LOT of FP people came through during the time were in the standby line. But it still went pretty quickly. By then it was about 9:15 and I figured we should go get the boat to Beach Club as we were meeting Elaine (Bert & Sully) and her dh for breakfast at Cape May Buffet. We just missed the boat (again) but got to BC about 10:05. We were seated pretty quickly. I liked this breakfast a lot. Great characters, yummy food. Again, Krispy Kreme doughnuts Jalen finally got a chance to show Goofy the picture he had made of the two of them together.

After breakfast, we headed to Epcot via pathway.

We saw Jiminy Cricket and I was really excited b/c this was a new one for us.

We went to Future World and the 3 of them got FP's for Test Track. TT is one of only 2 rides I won't do again at Disney (Mission: Space being the other one as I have clausterphobia). So it was nice Jalen had someone to take him on it, as he had never been before.

We had to wait for their time to come up, so we wandered over to the Living Seas to see if we could see Turtle Talk with Crush. Again, the line was ridiuclously long, so we went and looked at the fish for a bit. We then went to Character Connection. This is a pretty neat set-up. I liked it a lot. Chip and Dale were just coming out from a break so Jalen got some 1-on-2 time with them. Those chipmunks always have to mess around with Jalen's hat

After that, we wandered around the art that was there for the Flower & Garden festivals. Stamps made out of flowers:

We then took a quick stop at Club Cool. I so wish I could have gotten a picture of Jalen when I made him try Beverley. He almost hurled, I think Of course, I was cracking up. Nice mom

The 3 of them went and rode Test Track which Jalen now says is his favorite WDW ride (which probably means he'll be scared of it next trip )

It was getting really really hot. We wandered around World Showcase and it was just darn hot.

Jalen at Mexico:

and Norway:

and China:

We got some ice cream to cool down, then walked to the boat to MGM. Elaine and her dh stayed at MGM while Jalen and I took the boat back to WL.

Our towel elephant upon arriving back in our room:

We were planning on changing and heading to DD for dinner at Earl of Sandwich. As we were waiting and waiting and waiting for the bus to DD (we waited over 1/2 hr) a huge thunderstorm rolled in. We finally decided we didn't want to walk around DD in the rain, so we headed back into the hotel and checked for a cancellation at Whispering Canyon Cafe. There weren't any, and she said the standby time was about an hour. So we got a pager and then headed up to our room. I packed a bit and about 35 minutes later our pager went off. We booked it back downstairs and were seated in the main area (last time we were way over in a corner) We had a super waitress who was so so so funny. She threw the straws at Jalen - I think he ended up with like 9. Then he used them all to drink his Sprite. Our waitress then came back with a teapot with 4 straws stuck together sticking out of it b/c she wanted to slow him down on his drinking It was hilarious. One guy was made to run around the lobby on the stick horse, and he went and got in the lobby elevator and disappeared! The waitress said she'd never seen that happen before. It was pretty funny. Lots of other fun antics, but I won't give everything away. Jalen got the dirt and worms for dessert.

We went back up to our room, finished the last minute packing and watched the silly Pistons throw away the last game to the Miami Heat. BOO!

The storm trooper on the roof is great!

I swear, we were in the same lines. We saw Jiminy as we entered Epcot that day, and then I took dd to character connection for the same characters.

Sounds like a fun day. Haven't tried our ds on any of the real thrill rides yet; interesting to hear your guy running hot and cold on the same ones. OTOH, my dd (3) who cried through every second of Buzz Lightyear is now dying to give it another try!

Thanks for the update, it was fun.
